...falling asleep on Saturday nights?
I know this is kind of a weird post, but I can't get to sleep the night before redskins games. Since the Saturday night before opener I've had trouble falling asleep, and now with the way our team is playing it just gets harder. I try staying up late, so as to get really tired and fall fast asleep, but when I get into bed I just think about the game the next day. I'm a very anxious person BTW. Man, I've had some rough Saturday nights this last month. Anybody else have this problem? Any advice?

there's an herb called Valerian root that will knock you out with no harmful side effects. take 4 of them after hundreds of pushups and several beers. how's that for weird?

I say Tequila, but make sure you have eaten first.
I guess it's just waiting all week for the game and stuff. Plus, like I said, the season is so short that you really live or die for every second of real football.

Sorry I have never had the saturday night problem. Mine is the Sunday night after a loss problem, I lay there fuming about what they did wrong or what they could have done to win, etc. and I can't seem to get it out of my head. Then when I do finally get to sleep the first thing that pops in my mind when I wake up the next morning, yep and it stays there for a few hours at least. A football hangover....lol....I have had alot of sleepless nights in the past 10 years or so but thankfully I haven't lost any sleep, well since last year....woo hoo 3-0!!!!

you watch the game first...pushups during commercials, beers throughout...then knock yourself out.
what time zone are you in?

An hour a head of the states. (Oh, that reminds me, does anyone know when you guys are gonna be doing the time change over there? It's imortant to me because I'll be getting to games 2 hours later instead of just 1).
My problem is the night before the game, redwolf.

Me too, even though it was a 1:00 game, I didn't sleep this past sunday night too much. Definitley only got about 3 good hours after the Dallas win.

I am there too. I need to stop doing 8 balls before going to bed.
ok, seriously, I am there too. I keep running the other team through my head as if I were playing. Saturday night, I get the jitters like Joe is going to call me and tell me that I am playing.
Man, I love being 3 -0

Go out on Sat. night and have several drinks, enjoy yourself.
Then after a great night out you realize you have the game tomorrow.
It's like Christmas every Sun.

I have much more trouble sleeping after any loss or a big win. I do a good job of staying calm and focused until kickoff.

Drink a couple of beers before going to sleep, you will end up passing out! Or with almost every guy. Its easy to fall asleep after sex! :D

Sat night beer works well, but the real problem I have is Sun before the game- I have to plan all sorts of things to do to keep self busy. This week (late game) my wife will be very happy as I will work like a demon around the house and yard so I dont get too excited....of course, that means I will have had a bunch of beer already before the game starts, so I will be quite a bit louder :)
Bottom line is wife will be happy and leave me alone for the game

Before the first game, me and my two best friends (obviously both Redskins fans) stayed up drinking and talked all night about how cool it would be if Gibbs started Brunell to "surprise" everybody in football, and were incredibly drunk at the point Ramsey went out, at which point I believe I jumped on hR and said some regrettably mean things about Ramsey. I also didn't really remember much of the game until I saw it again the next day. So basically don't go that rout. A couple fingers of some good scotch will do you good the night before, and if you don't drink, just head to one of those Uruguayan pharmacies and I'm sure you can find something that'll knock you right out.

LOL, thanks.
I don't like getting too drunk for games for the same reason: I only remember bits and pieces the next day. But I always end up drinking A LOT of beer before and during the game.
My girlfriend recently bought me a BIG BEER MUG similar to this one:

So now I take great pleasure in my pregame drinking.

lol hundreds of push ups and several beers and THEN valerian root? because the beer/push up combo wouldn't do it alone?
for me it would be 10 pushups.. 3-4 beers, goodnight!

tylenol pm and good distracting book or movie has been doing it for me, but i've been struggling with the same problem. plus i am WIDE awake around 8:30 and if you knew me well, you'd know what an aberration that is.

I always have trouble sleeping but besides that I usually get up between 6:30 and 7:30 on Sundays and get ready. I like to get that Skins gear on as soon as possible.

I usally find myself waking up even earlier then I would. If I wake up at 5 am to use the restroom its all over im up all day. However if I make it to 9am when the dogs wake me up so they can go. then i consider that sleeping in cause once im up on game day I usally get goosebumps and couldnt go to sleep if I downed a bag of Valium. Is it healthy to love the Skins this much.

well i should clarify on the pushups. not all at once. do 60, then 40, then 20 a few times. or if you like to do 10, do 10 about 20 times over a few hours.

We do. In fact, we're doing it this Sunday (one hour ahead) for Spring. So I'll be watching the skins game at 6:15. And when you guys do your hour change, I'll be watching the early games at 4 and the afternoon games at 7:15. :( This really sucks, especially for Sunday and Monday night games.
