I was talking with a friend about the NFL and the skins and we got to discussing who the biggest rivals are for teams. I was wondering how you all would rank the skins top 5 hated teams?

Top 5 for me:
1. Cowboys
1a. Eagles
3. Ravens
4. Giants
5. Broncos

This one is easy for me...

1. Eagles (I hate the Eagles the most, b/c I grew up in Eagles' Country)
2. Dallas (Obvious Reasons)
3. Giants (NFC East)
4. Jets (Thanks to all of the "movement" of players between the teams over the last 3 seaons.)
5. Broncos (Thanks to the continual discussion of the merits of the Champ/Pick for Portis trade)

I was just thinking about how the Iggles are technically to Gibbs 2.0 what Dallass was to the George Allen and Gibbs 1.0 Redskins. However, Dallass will always be tops on my crumb list.

1) Dallass
2) Iggles
3) Gints
4) Rats
5) Broncows/Rayduhs (tie)

I don't understand the Bronco hatred? Other than a trade that was very mutually beneficial, and one of our greatest Superbowl victories what intereaction have we every had with Denver? We, as an organization, have absolutely NO reason to hate them. They aren't even close to a rival.

Dallas
Philly
Giants(though I really don't really hate the Giants with the same passion as the Girls or Eagles though.)
Ravens
Chicago? Seems we play them every year and they are a pretty big conference rival.

I just hate them because I hate Mike Shanahan. Whenever the national media addresses him, it's like they're just ripping paragraphs out of Genesis and replacing any reference to "the Lord" with "Mike Shanahan".

Ok...I've never seen any of that. I like Shanahan, I just can't look at him because I'm afraid his head will pop and start bleeding all over the place. I seriously don't think that altitude is healthy for him, I've never seen a face that red in my entire life.

Eagles

I can deal with the cowboys and can handle arguments from thier fans. I can't deal with a philly fan telling me anything. I tell them this "Win a Superbowl then you come talk to me". Then they go away.Everyone in the east got one but them. they can't tell me anything.

The Broncos rivalry is fairly new...and it was created by the Portis/Bailey trade. Yes...I also believe it was mutually beneficial to both teams...but the Broncos faithful do not. You can only argue so long before it turns into a rivalry.

I guess so. I've never had this arguement with a Bronco's fan. We pretty much just agreed that the extra second rounder the Skins threw in was unneccesary. To me you need FRANCHISE related reasons for a rivalry to exist between teams. Proximity of teams/Interdivision play/Gut wrenching games/Franchise personell made statements.

Fans on the otherside of the country telling you that you got robbed in a trade just means they have annoying fans. It doesn't make it a rivalry to me....but I guess I can understand an elevated desire to beat them.

i hate them because they swindled us in that trade by demanding an additional 2nd rounder...and then jacked a extra third from us this past year with the cambell trade....

overall i wouldn't call them a major rival but i still hate their smug coach...

1. Cowboys - One of greatest rivalries in ALL sports, We've played in a bunch of huge games against these guys, ALOT of history
2. Eagles - Division foe, rivalry really propelled by the fans, eagles fanbase vastly consists of a**holes, + the eagles have owned the division lately
3. Giants - again a bunch of HUGE games with these guys, rivalry hasn't been as intense w/ the mediocrity of our clubs.
4. Ravens - Beltway rivalry, fan base mentality more similar to eagles than most cities.
5. 49ers - Bunch of big match-ups during the 80s. Alot of bad blood developed between the 2 teams. This matchup typifies the east coast vs. west coast style of football.

I don't see how anyone can mention Broncos as a rivalry? We've played what, 1 meaningful contest in the history of the 2 clubs. And it wasn't even close.

Dallas, New York and Philly for me in that order. The list looks something like this:

1. Dallas

2. New York
3. Philly

MoeRedskins
10-05-2005, 01:13 PM
1. Cowboys - I can understand the Eagles arguement cause I hate them too, but the boys are still #1 in my book.
2. Eagles - from their fans, to their stadium, to the rip off song they play, everything about this team is very easy to loathe.
3. Ravens - A team straight outta the longest yard, sans the QB. Every Ravens fan was a skins fan whether they will admit it or not.
4. Giants - Hate the Tuna, Respect yet hate LT, and I don't want Eli to be successful in any way.
5. Patriots - #5 I think is all personal perference, so who ever you don't like in the NFL makes the list. I am just sick of the Northeast hogging all of the sports titles around here. Plus, I don't respect a team that is #2 in area fandom when they are that successful. If given the choice between the Sox and Pats, I think a lot of New Englanders would take the Sox. JMO, not a scienfictic poll or nothing. But, that is another reason the Giants suck too.

1. Dallass- no explanation needed, I hate everything about their existence.
2. Philthy- obnoxious fans and the dirty teams they had in the 80's made me hate them.
3. NJ Giants- division foe, '86 championship game, manbreasts, Simms, LT..'nuff said
4. Ratbirds- possibly the dumbest fans in all of sports and Brian Billick.
5. Squeelers- too many of their fans in this area, I hate almost everything about them except for Cowher.

This is EASY:

#1-Cow-pukes. I hate everything Texas and Cow-puke related.
#2-Eagles-Talk about the most "over-hyped" team in a long time (next the stupid Pats)!!!
#3-Giants-Whats not to hate???
#4-Broncos-No real reason to hate 'em..........Maybe I just don't like their jersey colors......?
#5-Raiders/49ers/Patriots-insert team here.

Dallas - without a doubt
Philly - can't stand them.
Giants -
Broncos - How I would love for Moss to burn Champ in this game, and to win.
Jets - Just to rub it into their fans faces

Meatsnack
10-05-2005, 02:26 PM
Dallas - They can't be dead enough. Many of them are already zombies, which is why you have to burn the bodies after you kill them.

Philly - the City of Brotherly Love...like the Menendez brothers. I hope for it to be destroyed by objects from space.

New Jersey - You have to have been to the Jersey swamp to really appreciate how loathsome they are, like scars from venereal disease lesions.

Oakland - I hate anything Norv related with the white-hot passion of a thousand suns. I hated them pre-Norv due to the '83 superbowl.

Miami - The 72' bowl loss and the never ending drivel of the perfect season. How I hate them. Throw a dolphin on the barby.

San Fran - Living so close to them I can only ask, how can you not hate these supercillious bastards? My hatred for Barry Bonds spills over the sport boundary and makes me hate them even more. Death to them.

Baltimore - You are the 70's cowboys, hon, a collection of parolees and felons loosely organized into a football team. I would wish death upon you but then you would be free of reliving your prison "adventures" as someone's "bunkie".

All the other NFL teams for daring to think about beating the Redskins, their rightful lords and masters.

Probably because they are fresh on everyone's mind.

For me it is as follows:

The big two:
dallass - I absolutely despise them
Iggles - If I didn't live in Iggle territory, I probably wouldn't care. The fans are the reason why I hate the Iggles.

The rest:
Gints - Only because they are a division rival and I am still angry about the year they beat us three times in a season.
Ratbirds - Again the fans make this one worse than what it really is.
SF - This goes back to the 80's and early 90's. The rivalry has definitely lost some of its luster, but still a lot historical animosity between the two.
Tampa - This is more recent, but growing for me... I despise losing to the Yuccaneers.

Agreed the top 4 are easy. But, the 5th shouldn't be personal. The post wasn't who do "you" hate the most it was "what is the Redskins biggest rivalry". To me that means a team that the Redskins have played a bunch of tough hard fought and most importantly meaningful games against and have developed some bad blood towards.

You're right, I as well as everyone put our own list of hated teams. Most rivalries don't exist anymore, other than divisional but I guess you would have to throw in the Cardinals, since we used to play them twice a year and had some ugly games with them.

My five most hated teams:

1. Cowpokes - Obvious
1a. Eagles - I hate Philadelphia (the city) and their fans.
1b1. Giants - They think that because they have Antonio Pierce and that Manning guy that they are better than us. Will NEVER be successful with Tom Coughlin at the helm.
1b2. Ratbirds - Billick plus I live and work in the Annapolis area. Raven country. Most clueless fans in the NFL. Cheapens the Lombardi trophy that they have a ring.
1c. Whoever we play next. When I'm sitting in my seat at FedEx for home games or in front of a TV for away games, I HATE our opponent. They have the nerve to think that they are better than us. NOT!

ScarletFire

1) Dallas- As everyone has said, this is obvious. (To boot, both my bros are friggin' Dallas fans.)
2) Giants- Parcells, Simms, LT, etc. still echo in this match-up. This rivalry will heat up again with Eli, Pierce, etc. Tons of big (read: really important, ie playoffs/playoff implications) games thru the years.
3) Philly- Division foe. Not as high as the Giants becuase there have been less big games thru the years.
4) Baltimore-Neighbors.
5) Cardinals- Old division foe.

As I was reading this thread, I too though it became who folks hated the most versus who the rivalry is. I was glad to see someone else remembered the Cardinals before I added them. I don't get how Denver was so high on so many folks' list. (Maybe because they're next on the schedule?) I live in the Denver area and there's never talk of a Redskins/Broncos rivalry. If anything, you'd think it would start here since that beating they took in Super Bowl XXII. Right now, they do want the Redskins to have a terrible season so they can get a higher draft pick out of the JC trade.

(Side note: The Timmy Smith thing coming out right before this game is way too coincidental. It's brought back a lot of horrible memories for the Broncos fans, each of which brings a smile to my face. It's crazy he landed in Denver after the NFL. Maybe he thought he could continue to be successful in/against Denver after flopping everywhere else.)

1. Dallas - always has been and always will be. No argument - this is just the word. One of the biggest rivalries in sports - anywhere.

2. Eagles - division rival - lots of bad blood due to fans and hard-hitting games

3. Giants - division rival - lots of bad blood - lessened of late since both teams have been mediocre. Heating up again.

4. Baltimore - Just cause they're close. Just because of the huge influx of fans from the other team.

Anything after these 4 really are down to fan preference - not team dynamics or psych.

2. Eagles (I detest Owens, the League's premier effete, crybaby primadonna)

3. Giants (Tom Coughlin is an egocentric thug and Eli Manning an overindulged, spoiled brat)

Here I am beating the dead horse that is the same list as most people: 1. Dallas. I live in the heart of the city, and I hear *SPENSORED* every day I wear anything redskins, and even days I don't about my team, but there is nothing like Dallas week for me. My blood is boiling by the time the game comes around and I could get on the field and be a play maker. THIS is the biggest rivalry for the skins, and it will continue to be, we've got 7 seasons of payback due to them. 2. Philly. Just once... please... I don't wanna hear "You guys were tough, but we beat you in the end" or "I didn't think we were gonna pull that off" I want to be the one running up and down broad and olney yelling at the top of my lungs and being the victorious one! (And I will wear something redskins EVERY SINGLE DAY for that week! Plus, I'd win two bets... :D) 3. Giants. You have to put the division rivals up at the top of the list. The games played against them are the ones that matter the most. THOSE are the ones that will determine your position and ultimately if you get into the playoffs or not. 4. The Ravens... Ewww I don't really have a 5th. but the ones above pretty much sum it up.

I loathe the Denver Broncos. Most of that has to do with the fact that I live in the middle of Broncoland and constantly here about the "Messiah" Jake Plummer and the "greatest coach of all time" Mike Shanahan. You ever seen Shanahan on the sidelines and his head is smoking from screaming so much that his face turns that beat red? I like to think he's thinking "C'mon Lucifer, you promised me 3 superbowls, not 2!" Add the Bailey for Portis trade, and yeah I hate them, but nowhere near as much as Dallas. Oh, and I love the Raiders, always liked Norv's offense, rooted for Gannon and Tim Brown a coupla years back, and really love it when they stomp out the Broncos in Denver.

Growing up #2 and #3 would be reversed but, the eagles are better right now. Also the 49ers were so good in the 80's they took some of our spot light away from us. Vikes always a tough game no matter what, it's always close

1. Cowboys
2. Eagles
3. Giants (I still have flashbacks of LT beating Jacoby around the edge and Joe Morris running circles around our D)
4. Ravens
5. Due to recent acquisitions either Jets or Broncos.

But don't we always seem to beat the vikings? When was the last time they beat us? Probably in Norv's era, but that shouldn't count. :D

Call me old fashioned but to me it is and always will be:

Cowboys
Giants
Eagles

Everyone else is a tie...but I have to say Denver, NY Jets, and Oakland are real dillholes and I would love to pummel them as well.
