Is there no press conference today. Gibbs normally does a Monday press conference. What's going on with that?

I'm sure they are still conducting their Emergency Special Teams practice following yesterday's performance. Should be over by 10:00 PM ;)

Just heard on AM 980 Joe Gibbs called a team meeting today. Not sure if he'll do the press conference later or not.

LOL, Danny is being replaced.

I am so curious how this pans out. I don't think it will until the end of the season, but I wonder if gibbs will let him go or not. I know how loyal gibbs is to his coaches so we will see.

Maybe they had a plane weather delay or something and just didn't get in until way late.

I want to hear what GW has to say about the defensive performance. I think everyone deserves to hear more about what is in fact going on with LaVar.

This would be great news!!!

At any rate, I've been waiting all day to see the press conference. I was hoping Gibbs would say something to the effect of " We are sending some film to the NFL Officiating board to find out how we got royally screwed on the 2 point play (safety).

That's the last thing I want another of.

I'd be shocked if Gibbs made a coaching move in the middle of the season. Not his style at all.

True. Special teams haven't been "Gibbslike" in his 2nd tenure. He is very aware how valuable the unit is to a football team. Although argued before, I do feel Smith is a bit on the hot seat this year. This unit is underachieveing. Novak has to kickoff further for starters. I realize Smith can't kick, but we have to resolve this to achieve the success we desire.

- He said one thing is that we were all together
- Could have one with offense, defense, and special teams.
- He said their focus is how improve and not make the mistakes we made yesterday.
- Talked about Brunell and being sharp in the bad weather and how it gives him confidence going down the road in sloppy games
- Said they didn't want to throw it that much but the game dictated it. Another reason was that Clinton got kicked in the shin
in the game and said he had to go in (locker room) I believe. That's why he wasn't used as much yesterday.
- Clinton played through it anyway but it was really swollen during the course of the game. He talked about how Clinton was going after people.
- Springs did re-injure the shin but no update on his status at this moment.
- Bram bought up only having two CB's and see said he hopes to get Walt back and that everybody pray we get he and Shawn back this week.
- Talked about how concerned they are with the lack of turnovers. Mentioned we set a NFL record with 6 games winning by 3 or less.
- The Lavar Arrington Issue, Gibbs said it's tough and he's not starting. He missed last year and most of the offseason. They like the
players playing now. They would like him playing more than he is but with the packages and what they plan, it doesn't allow it.
- He was asked about the conversation and said it was friendly and that they talked about a lot of things. He said he didn't know the media
was there and they caught him as he was saying to Lavar - "You can help this team" and it was related to special teams. He said he
acknowledges it's difficult for the fans to understand.

He said they don't want to be throwing on goal line situations but they haven't been getting it done. He said they want to lean on Portis in those situations. He said they are very upset not to be pounding it in.

Good stuff. I like the comments about Lavar and how Gibbs is always concerned about pleasing the fans as well. Not all coaches are like that. The CP shin incident does somewhat explain the propensity of passing yesterday. We need to be ready to go on special teams Sunday. We need to see good improvement there and punch the ball in the endzone consistently. Those two things will really help us turn the corner.

He talked about our running scheme and how they always want to hand off as opposed to tossing it (rskinsfan10 and I don't like hearing this). They like to hand off and go wide then give the same look but cut back.

I personally think that mis-direction toss works great and it should remain in the playbook.

Dear Coach Williams.
Sunday the Redskins gave us all we could handle. Thank you for not playing LaVar. It could have caused us to lose. Is this a new strategy to not play your best defender? We are extremely grateful as we barely escaped with a win.
Sincerely,
Denver

I would like to see Gibbs spread it out and then hand it off to Portis. I still think his playcalling is a little predictable.

I watched the archived telecast on Redskins.Com.

Was it me, or did Gibbs accidently call Mark Brunell; "Scott"?

He was talking about how well Brunell plays in the rain, and at the end of his sentence, and I thought he called him SCOTT!

Didn't one of the announcers during the Bears game call him Scott too? Wierd...

Maybe it's his bizzarro twin, the opposite Brunell of the one that was here last year...;)

Maybe it's his nickname or something. Gibbs might be talking about running it in goal line situations to throw off the kansas city defense...

I've been screaming for this all season. As I recall we ran it once in the Denver game and it netted like 10 yards. KCs D is undisciplined, overly agressive, pursues well to the ball, but doesn't stay home and over commits. If we don't run at least 5 misdirection tosses I'm gonna be pissed!!!
Plus, I want to see several boots and a couple reverses.

Yeah but Samuels only fell because he tripped over the scared DB that just fell down in front of him.

i didnt really wanna make a new thread on this, but i think our plays are too predictable. me and my uncle were saying exactly what play was gonna happen, whos gonna go in motion, and who will be the first option before they snapped the ball. maybe its because ive seen almost every play this year and last year, but i think if i know the plays, the other team could know them too
