Redskins trade LaVar Arrington for late first round pick (20-32)
Redskins trade Patrick Ramsey for a 3rd round choice
1. Manny Lawson, DE NC State (With the way Williams rotates his lineman Lawson would be the one thing that's missing)
2. Kelly Jennings, CB Miami Fl (Springs and Harris are very close to 30 and over 30 respectivly and a second young building block to the secondary is needed. Jennings might be a little light but is very fast and a ballhawk)
3. Maurice Stovall, WR Notre Dame
3. Brandon Hoyte, LB Notre Dame (You're gonna say it's a reach but Hoyte is a football player in its purest form and a perfect MLB for this defense. He's not the fastest or strongest but he's a smart player, gets to the ball and never misses)
5. Broderick Bunkley, DT Florida State (In time will give us some pass rush in the DT rotation as opposed to all the run stuffers we have. Another benefit of the rotation system)
6. Tim Massaqui, TE Michigan
7. Jason Boyd, WR UTEP

I approve. Addresses most of our needs. With the drafting of Hoyte as a MLB are you assuming that Marshall returns to the Weakside linebacker? I also think we are a little thin on the Oline with Brown retiring and I think we will replace at least one of Raymer or Friedman. Could use some picks there or fill them through cheap free agents. If your scenario comes to fruition and our QB play keeps up this prime the Skins for areal run at the SuperBowl.
Good stuff!!

what about all of our compensatory picks?

You are right I think Marshall could be a real asett outside and the trades are basically a best case scenario.
Like I said before, if we draft well in the next 2 drafts and Campbell is half of what Gibbs' expects, we will have one of the strongest teams in the league by Gibbs' second to last and last years.

I wish I was smart enough to be able to predict those in October.

I don't know if we will get any comp picks. Basically Smoot & Pierce have to get a ticket to Hawaii. We signed Patten, Raymer etc. so that would seem to negate any FA impact for comp picks (not sure though).

I do not think the re-signing your own counts. It would really be Rabach, Patten, Holdman, etc.
I do not expect to get more than maybe one compensatory pick.

FWIW, we should have two 6th round picks, the one we have and the one from Carolina for Gardner.

I like the picks. I dont see taking 2 WR in a single draft tho. But i wouldnt mind it.

I think this draft is awesome, but I don't see us getting those extra picks... Especially for LaVar.

I think coming up with a draft a quarter of the way through the season is silly. You have no idea who we will resign, cut, and sign via FA to address our needs and what rookies emerge in the combine as a hot pick.

Then I strongly suggest you don't do it.

What about elvis dumervil outta Louisville? HE IS A BEAST. A freakin MANCHILD. He is undersized at 6'1 255 and not that fast but he knows how to rush the passer. We could get him in the 3-5 round area. Let me drop a statline on you. In 5 games he has 15 SACKS AND 7 FORCED FUMBLES I dont care how small or slow he is if you know how to play you know how to play and this kid plays like an animal everydown.

If the Skins don't get a first round pick somehow I'd look at him around the 3rd round if his stock doesn't rise. I think it really plays to our advantege that we don't need an every down defensive end like most teams do.

It may be silly, but its still fun to do and actually look at, IMO.

Will we have enough cap space to take the cap hit trading Lavar will create?

I think we will draft a corner but i doubt he'll be light. Williams likes bigger CB who can help stop the run look at Rogers and Springs i think we'll draft a CB of that type Big and fast instead of small and quick. I think we'll address the D alot earlier in this years draft mainly the DL, CB, and maybe a young Safety. Memba we have Keasey, and McCunne as young developing TE, White(imagine White lining up where Sellers or Kolz does) and Broughton developing. I think well draft a TE(mid round) WR and some Oline depth late.

Big and fast CB's usualy go in the 1st round. In the the later rounds you have one or the other and in today's NFL I'd rather have a fast CB, especially if he's gonna start out playing nickel and dime. You also forgot the other rule of thumb, draft CB's from the U and Ohio State! Ok that's not an exact science but it's pretty amazing how many good ones have come out of those two schools.

If we trade Lavar..that would put us in total cap hell....We're not gonna trade Lavar.

Good scenario, but we won't get a third for Ramsey and we can't trade Lavar if we want to sign any of our draft picks at all.

The only way we draft one is if were getting a Big and Fast one. Cause Williams has said numerous times how much he liked those kind of guys cause they're more versatile. Lol I agree with you about the U and Ohio State CB's, Springs and Taylor come to mind.

not necessarily...Akh can give the numbers better than i can, but with the new collective bargaining agreement and the TV deal, the cap will go up a lot...potentially enough to completely offset that cap hit we would take if we traded Arrington.

Between Trotter and Coles, the Skins will get back 16 million in dead cap space. Yes, some of that will be used by contracts jumping in value, but the new TV deal goes into effect after the 2005 season, and according to the CBA, the cap must rise proportionaly to the rise of TV money. So, its expected, that the cap will rise 15-30 million. The Skins can trade lavar without being in cap hell and the following year, the Skins would get back 12-16 million in cap space.

Wait a minute, TV deal? You mean NBC showing pro football again means we get ten million dollars more in cap space?
Awesome.

I have a feeling that Dumervil will be a 3-4 LBer in the NFL.

I pray to god we don't trade lavar...i don't see how a late 1st equals good value for him. He's still one of the 2 or 3 best outside lb's in the league.

He is no longer considered in the top ten because he hasn't played last year and now this year he can't beat out Holdman.
A late first is fair compensation and would allow us to upgrade our DL.

Campbell plus 2007's first round draft pick for LEINART!
Oh man, I wish. As long as he doesn't go anywhere in the NFC East, which he almost definitly won't, I'll be getting his jersey.
