I'm not sure how many of you think you can affect the way the Redskins play, but I have a few quirks that I have to do every game.
I have a redskins helmet that place on top of my BIG TV and point it in the direction the Redskins are driving.
Also, if the Skins are playing well, I won't flip the channel on commercials, not even to check out the other game. But if they're losing, then I might flip the channels between plays.
Anyone else have weird routines that help the Skins WIN?

I love these kind threads. We've discussed this numerious times but its still fun to see other peoples rituals. Plus, I can show my wife that I'm not the only one to do this. She laughs at me constantly.
1st off, I can't watch it with someone else. I have to be a lone. Its not safe for the other person if we're losing.
2nd, I have to hold the remote control a certain way. If the Skins aren't playing well, I have to hold it another way until we begin playing better.
3rd, I have to find a shirt that brings us luck. I'll start off with my retro jersey of Green. If we lose that week, I'll find another Jersey or t-shirt until we start winning.
4th, I can't move. Once we are moving the ball on offense i'll stay that way until we either score or punt. If we score, I stay that way on defense too.
And one I started last year.......I have to drink at least one beer per quarter. And on top of that, I can only go to the bathroom in between quarters. I feel like If I'm in pain then we'll play better. lol
I know I'm weird. But you asked. lol

OK...I am as bad as the rest of you.
and this is no joke
First off, I go to church sunday morning. No kidding, when I didn't go, they lost, so I make it a point to go every sunday.
Second, I DO NOT sit through the announcements at church, I leave (my wife and I bring seperate vehicles for this purpose).
I rush home and get naked (completely) have to erase all the bad vibes off my body. Then I put on ALL SKINS stuff. Skins boxers, skins shorts, skins t-shirt, then jersey (in that order). Depending on what happened last game will be if I choose another jersey (I have 6 to choose from) and ifI wear a hat or not (I have 4 hats to choose from). NO SOCKS AND NO SHOES. We won three super bowls with that one!
I have to take out my redskins party helmet but can't put any chips or dip in it. (remember the Dallas loss when we were killing them? My friends put chips in dip in there, and that will never happen again!!!!)
I take out my old redskins twin comforter and lay it on the floor for my dog to lay on and be a fan too. I have to sit in my recliner, not the sofa, or the other matching recliner. (this may not sound like much...but I yelled at my father in law when he sat in my recliner during the game when I got up to get a drink.)
Also...NO ALCOHOLIC beverages during the game. None before the game if it's and early game either. (I'm not a big drinker so this doesn't matter too much...just matters when friends are over)
depending on the previous week is what or if I'll use the grill. I usually use it every week. If we have a piss poor performance, then the next week I'll cook inside, or order out. If we do well, the propain levels get low quick! :D
You asked...and I think that's about it...it will come back to me like riding a bike when the season starts...I've been this anal for about 10 years.
(oh yeah, and with each TD my wife and I do air high 5's from across the room.)

You guys had some great rituals! I'll share mine.
First off, the morning starts off with me putting on my Skin's jersey. (I get a new one every year...so this year I got a Ramsey White Jersey) I then convince my wife to put on her Bruce Smith jersey. She has agreed to wear it on game days...but she gets to take it off if she is going out of the house. (She is a VERY good sport)
If the Skins are playing a 1:00 game, I start the day in front of the living room TV. The TV is tuned to the ESPN coverage, until FOX (my favorite) coverage comes on. I MUST sit on the far right side of the couch, so that I'm right up against the arm of the couch. (If not, the other team may score!) I then grab my football and put in on the other side of me. I usually have a few beers lined up in fridge ready for consumption. Once the introductions start, I then crack some brews. Like Mike...I tend to have at LEAST one beer per quarter. (depends on the game, of course)
If the Skins are playing a 4:00 game, I start the day in my basement bar, and watch both the NFC and AFC games. Brews start getting cracked open whenever...Once the Skins game starts...I retreat to the living room couch. (See above)
During game time, I stand up and wave my fingers in the air for all punt/kickoffs and field goals. I usually tell the Skins player recieving the kickoff/punt to "Take it to the house!". (They usually don't.
During the game, if I see Ramsey cock back for a deep ball, I usually scream out. "Top Shelf!". If I don't, it will be dropped.
During the game, if there is a HUGE tackle given by a Skins player I usually scream "Sit Down". If I don't, it won't happen again.
There is a whole bunch of other crap I do...but its been so long I can't remember...Call me crazy...call me wierd...But being a die-hard fan is all about this stuff!

DAMN IT!
I've been wondering what why we haven't been good at pr and kr. IT'S YOU!
Alright...time to tweek this, I want a good special teams this year. I've tried everythign to get us out of this funk and nothing works. So it's clearly your fault. How about sit there and do nothing...or take a swig as they are catching the ball. To keep you quiet!

I just remembered some more stuff...
If the Skins are losing in the middle of the 3rd quarter, I'll take my jersey off and throw it in a pile in front of the TV. (Punishment to the jersey for jinxing the game. :D ) If they come back and win..I'll put the jersey on again for the rest of the day...if they lose, the jersey won't be worn again till next week. If the Skins REALLY lose bad, I'll wear a different jersey next week. (Probably a Champ or Smoot jersey)
Like JSarno..I usually put my Redskins Blanket on the OTHER side of the couch for my Black Lab to lay on. This year...she is getting a Redskins bandana. I hope that is the last piece of the puzzle in getting us a winning season!
JSarno reminded me about HATS! Hats are very important on game day. I put on my Black Redskins Retro hat first thing in the morning. If they are losing..I'll pitch the hat at the TV and go without. If I REALLY need a rally for my Skins, I'll put on my Blue Wizards hat to mix things up. I'm starting to think that the ABE POLLEN Curse is rubbing off onmy skins, so I may retire that hat/ritual.

Hearing all this makes me think of one thing--I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL... Welcome to RFK Stadium on the banks of the Potomac (I'm a little old school)... Today, your Washington Redskins face the Dallas Cowboys... I'm Frank Herzog and with me is Sonny Jurgenson and Sam Huff...
I can't wait for the season to start... I'm wondering... do I need to get a dog, a mattress and a redskins blanket?

lmao! it so good to be around other crazed fans! i have a few things that i do.....
every game, im decked out with my vintage redskins practice shirt, a shirt i have had since i was 11...plus my DG or champ bailey jersey and redskins bandana. i have my yellow redskins we are #1 foam finger that i take with me where ever i watch the game. oh, and my redskins pin too. i have a beach towel that i like to lay on my bed, whether i lay on it or not. i have this redskins troll doll that i think belonged to jim lachey's son (my dad got it for me, i need to ask him!). any way, the troll doll has his own personal "GO SKINS" flag that i made like 6 years ago. the doll ALWAYS has to watch the game, whether im in the room or not. thats just a few from me.....
one of my brothers has a few weird things that he does. he hangs his redskins blanket up in his apartment before every game......if we score and hes sitting in a certain position, he wont move until we score again or do something bad in the game. also, he cant miss the kickoff to a game or else he thinks we will lose so he always carries his watchman with him.......

NO PROBLEM! I'll do whatever it takes for the Skins to win. If that means chugging a beer before each tackle I'll do it. SACRIFICE BODY FOR TEAM!!! :lol1:
So help me, if our special teams suck first game out, I'm pointing my finger in your direction...and you will be banned!!!!!!

ok i guess it's my turn,
First off i wake up in the morning and immediately put on the jersey (even before the skivvies, have to have my priorities straight) then the skivvies and then one of a few different redskins shorts. ( not to be graphic but, if it is an important game i skip the skivvies and go straight to the shorts, to feel closer to the team). then i grab one of my skins hats and sit down on the right side of the couch and start watching all the pregame shows. I tend to start yelling obsenities if during the pregame someone picks whoever we are playing. NO one disses my skins. Right before kick off i run to the bathroom and take my final break because i only go during half time and the end of the game excluding overtime of course or if i just cant wait anylonger. which i tend to feel bad if something negative happens. if by halftime we are losing in a bad way, i will change the jersey first, if by the third quarter it's off with the old hat and on with another one. I am notorious for slinging my hat and or jersey at the screen if we get screwed on a call. Hell my wife usually leaves at the beginiing of the game and takes the kids if they want to go. My oldest now wants to stay:D Also if we start doing bad in the first quarter, i will turn off the sound and turn on the radio and listen to sammy, sonny and frank. other than that i'm quite normal hehehehe. ohh and IF the skins loose i tend to be in a foul mood for the rest of the day so my wife just leaves me alone. Hell i even converted her to being a skins fan from being a cowpatties fan because in her words " He is a Dick if the skins loose so i root for them to win so he wont be a Dick"

Mike , I also have to be alone. My wife and daughter go to her moms on Sundays. I have all 3 TVs on and if they start to screw up ,I go to another room and watch and when get to the third TV and something bad happens I turn off 2 of them and go to the bedroom and watch.
Speaking of bathroom breaks. A few years ago I was at hogfest vs TB. My friend and I were pretty much drunk when we got to go in the stadium, well by half time we both were ready to explode but we knew the restrooms would be full, well Dan went in the begining of the third quarter and due to the beer we drankhe kinda got confused and could not find our seats. I saw him and yelled but it was useless, finally the guy next to me tapped the guy besides him and so through 1 and a half sections of fans someone told him where his seat was. Well after all his trouble I decided I could hold it till the end of the game. This is the game we were leading 17-7 with like 3 minutes left in the game adn TB came back to tie it up and Dieon ran the punt back to set up the winning FG. Well he ran to the end zone where I was sitting and everyone stood up and cheered but me. I had to go so bad I could not stand and cheer. I did finally make it to the restroom but I had sobered up and felt really ill :D :D

Ok guys you, I am finally gonna tell this story (been saving it as embarrsed).
My sunday ritual consist of getting up in the morning and making sure the wife is gone before the Skins play. You see ever since we started living together in our college years, she has been a curse to the Skins. It all started back in 94 the year after Gibbs retired. The first time she watched a SKins game with me we lost Rypien for the season and the season was down the tubes. Ever since then I noticed everytime she watched a Skins game with me the Skins would lose. The Dallas game where Davis fumbled, yup she was here. :)...... I get in a bad mood when the Skins lose so we came to an agreement. I let her go shopping and buy whatever the heck she wants. She don't watch the Skins with me. She does not care for Football anyway. ;)
She was also with me when the Skins annouced the the singing of Deion....Oh the pain! :banghead:

Parking lot by 9am
Buzzed and stuffed by 10am
Marching around stadium by 11:30am
Talking to fans and on the field stopping my man Harry from starting fights with the opposing teams players by 12:20pm
Pre-game show by 12:35pm
Hollering and cussing between 1:05-3:45 pm, with a dance in the endzone squeezed in there somewhere.
Percussion show by 4:05pm
Walking out of stadium, usually talking to a player about the day's game about 5:00pm
Eating like a pig and having my buzz turn into full fledged intoxication between 5:15 and 7:45pm
Exit stadium grounds around 8:00pm
Same routine, like Groundhog Day. This counts for hail2skins too, so no need for him to post on this thread.:D

Yeah, what Kenny said.
As for away games, I watch alone as well but I'm on the left side of the sofa. :smash: I'll have to try the right side this year. The radio is on Sam and the boys and the TV volume is turned down. I usually don't watch field goals and mute the radio as well because if I watch and listen to it, they'll miss it. It's being recorded so I can always go back and watch. If we lose, I'm sour until at least Wednesday and people know it.

I don't believe in Luck or superstitions.
....Well, except during football season.
I have no special clothing, but my flag must be flying outside.
In fact the Orioles must come down here shortly, training camp is about to start...
Anyway, during commercials I fly around the house cleaning, to release tension, 'cause I don't drink, so to that end, I must watch the TV on the main floor of the house.
If I'm stuck in the car I gotta have Sonny, Sam and Frank on, people on 270 probably think I'm nuts...
I must be able to scream and yell at the Refs at my desired vocal level with no dirty looks from Hubbo.
That's about it.

Geesh, many of you are wierd. I am not as bad as half of you.
My typical Sunday, wake up, do whaetver, abotu 11 i start reviewing all my picks and FF crap. Abotu 12, pre-games come on. Watch them till abotu 12:45, then it gets serious. The Redskisn cap goes on, the Champ jersey, and only the Champ jersey, head down stairs, grab the first beer, and alwasy sit at the right end of the coch, far right, druing offense. Usually at some point i begin grasping a pillow like i was hugging it. My wife gets pissed because it gets all defromed from anger. Defensive wise, never sit. Get up, and there is a walking apce between the sofa and coffee table. That is where I pace, back and forth, back and forth, just as if I were on a sideline.

Reveille blows early here - sometimes 0600 hrs.
Rise and shine and get that 1st cup of coffee to get going....
Plan every Sunday to have all my chores and jobs, inside or out, done by 1100 hrs.
Then I begin the breakfast ritual (I cook breakfast on Sunday) - eggs and bacon and pancakes and whatever else the wife and our kids want!
(I only allow myself eggs once a week!)
Always OJ with breakfast - sit right in front of the TV and start the pre-game shows!
As it gets close to game time - out comes the "HOG" - a doll dressed in Redskins gear that has the head of a snarling boar.
Also, setup the Redskins throw - the "Three Point Stance" -, which is always on my chair all year long!
Also out comes "John Riggins" another 'Skins Doll that I keep on the chair. And the - T-shirt or sweatshirt - depending on the time of the year and how the weather is. And then the "hat" - most recently the Redskins hat that has the Pentagon logo on the side!
Let the game begin - and depending on whether we are on offense or defense decides where the doll's sit - left or right hand arms of the chair. All of this is accompanied by the appropriate amount of hooting and hollering. And best of all, my wife is right there with me - SHE IS THE BEST BUDDY I CAN HAVE WITH ME FOR THE GAME!:) :)

NamVet, I'm a little jelious about your wife sharing the love of the Redskins with you. My wife likes them but she can do without watching. Sometimes I wish she was more into it. But, then other times I'm glad she isn't. She continuously wants to talk with me....lol
