Kansas City may have won the game 28-21 over the Redskins after a sensational ankle-breaking, 60-yard touchdown catch and run by the electric Priest Holmes, but I came away impressed by the Redskins offense. Clinton Portis played very well, totaling 128 combined yards. Mark Brunell played great, throwing for 331 yards, and Santana Moss was breathtaking, amassing 173 receiving yards. Moss' 78-yard catch and run on a touchdown was a gorgeous athletic play. I was dead wrong on the Moss-for-Laveranues Coles deal. Moss has been a perfect fit for the Redskins, reborn, speedy, and healthy in D.C.

How can anyone really not walk away the past three weeks being impressed with the offensive production? Same goes for the Moss/Coles trade. To us they are all givens, but to the media, for them to come around, proves even more, this offense is powerful. We have to block and protect better and hang on to the ball.

I honestly believe this team has the chance to be something special. I thought that at the beginning of the year, but there was always the unknown of what we would get out of the QB position. So many Skins fans owe Mark Brunell some serious apologies that it isn't funny. The key now is to not believe the hype and attack each game. there is not a team on the schedule that is out of our class. We can hang with just about any of them, but you have to go out and do it. It won't be easy by any stretch of the imagination.

I think if we can collect a few more wins, especially in the coming weeks against the Giants and Philly, we'll REALLY start getting the recognition we deserve. This offense is one of the tops in the league, and can be even MORE potent, but we keep giving the ball away. A few more wins, and wins in the division, and people will REALLY open their eyes.

And with each week that passes, it gets better. I enjoy watching an O with big play ability that can grind it out if it needs to.

To all the pundits out there who said:

He's too out of touch...
The players are different these days...
The game has passed him by...
Portis will never be effective in this offense...
Brunell is washed up....

Yada, yada, yada...shut your PIE HOLES!!! Sit back and take notes and don't ever, ever doubt a Coaching Legend again. Now jump on the bandwagon!!

Once again...the Redskins earn more respect from the media after losses than they do after wins.

Wierd, huh?

I have never been less disheartened after two losses. That being said, a better team would have won one of those two. I will be disappointed with anything less than the playoffs.

I wish our fanbase would stop seeking Media validation. Respect comes with Wins. Win the division, they have to respect you. Win in the Playoffs they have to respect you. Beat Philly who has run away with our division this entire Century and theh have to respect us.

This whole "They don't respect us" song and dance is getting tired. What are we 4 year olds who need attention? Should I send some of you people a sippy cup? Need a Blanky?

I was thinking the same thing. 3-0 no respect 3-2 alot of respect. Me personally I would rather be 5-0 with no respect. We really need a win this Sunday in a bad way.

we just need to do two things and then we will be unstoppable.

1. force turnovers
2. get clinton and betts into the endzone often

i feel realy good about this team because it appears that we are improving every game.

Our offense is probably one of the most potent in the NFL. Even if our defense continues to "bend but not break" we can win every single game we play IF OUR OFFENSE STOPS TURNING OVER THE BALL.

Last week, we could have conceivably gotten 35 points on offense if we just hadnt turned the ball over. 35 is enough to beat most teams, and even if our defense doesnt improve in creating turnovers, I have no doubt that there is not a team in the NFL that can score 35 on them. Kansas city basically benefited from injuries with our defensive backs. If Springs and Harris can get healthy, no one is gonig to score 28 on us again this year. I would put money on it.

technically, the defense only gave up 21 points.

If the defense can begin to consistently put pressure on the QB and force TO's, I believe this team will not only make the playoffs but have a serious chance to some damage in the playoffs. With Brunell to Moss being arguably the leagues best QB to WR combo in the league so far the opposing teams D has to respect our offense, so if our D shapes up which I believe it will we could do something special this year.

This team may be "something special" once Shawn Springs gets back and, if some enormous amount of luck befalls us, Greggy and LaVar kiss and make up. I'd say the increased amount of blitzing plus LaVar's pure athleticism would drastically increase the amount of turnovers we generate, which is the only thing we're missing now.

The Redskins would be 5-0 if they could just do something about the turnover ratio. Woulda coulda shoulda. They've got 11 chances to get the turnover ratio evened out. If they do, we're rooting for a team that will not only make the playoffs, but win at least one game in the playoffs. If they don't even out the turnover ratio, they'll have nobody to blame but themselves.

I agree with absolutley with everything except that you limit us to 1 playoff win. There is no team in the NFC that I would say is that much better than us based on how we are playing and that isn't being a homer. We aren't as deep at some positions so we need to stay healthy, but who really scares you? The problem is our division is tough with no teams you can sleep on, but to be the best you have to beat tyhe best.

I'm worried I'll feel that at the end of the season I'll feel we were the third or fourth best team and still be on the outside looking in. We have to solve the turnover problem or kiss the playoffs good bye.

I agree, but how many years have we been left saying "if only... then we would have made the playoffs". They need to get it done and take as a challenge/mission.

No arm left in brunell,
Gibbs can't adjust
he won the superbowl because there was no cap,
The D was lucky last year
portis is just another denver product
the o-line is one of the worst in the league (though it is only OK until dockery gets his head straight)
lastly..redskins will forever be the deadskins...

wow, how do they still have there jobs???

Sorry. I scored low in reading comprehension.

The problem is getting this turnover thing solved is a big "if". I could see us being in the NFC Championship game and I could see us losing this weekend...

You just never know until they show consistent positive turnover ratio.

Once the season ends more than just myself will be walking around with that knowing little smile. It's contageous. All you have to do is watch a game or two and you suddenly can't help yourself.

While this week won't be the breakout game, it'll be the primer. The D will be back to all around dominant, Lavar will finally get it and be back big for the Philly game and our O will figure out the redzone.

Life is good. The press is just finally figuring that out.

You just never know until they show consistent positive turnover ratio.I'll be very annoyed if the Redskins lose at home to a sad-sack outfit like the 49ers. The Redskins probably can't make the playoffs unless they change the turnover ratio. Considering the utter lack of pass rush, they probably cannot create many turnovers, so they'll have to focus on reducing the problem on offense.

Thankfully most of our turnovers have happened either 1) with Ramsey at the helm or 2) on the road against really good teams. I haven't seen anything that sticks out as a reoccuring problem. If the defense can just get 1.5 per game we'll be golden (I think). Hopefully once Springs is back, it'll allow GW more flexability to blitz. And while I do not question any decision this staff makes, I want LA to play. Even in a part time role I think the benefit he can bring (big plays and turnover) outweighs any concerns about being out of position.

Spence

Springs helps enormously, that's true. Not only because his ability to cover gives Williams more freedom to blitz, but also because Springs is a talented blitzer himself. I'm puzzled by the Lavar situation. The coaching staff is telling us that Lavar is so bad he can't get on the field. He's no better than the 6th linebacker on the team. Pretty stunning. I don't see how it can be true.

I agree but we are -8 right now in the turnover ratio. We have a lot of work to do to get that evened out. The way I see it, we have already made enough mistakes for the year, we need to be on the positive of the turnover ratio for the rest of the season.

Yeah, I don't care about the -8 because those games are done. What I want the team to do is focus on being at 0 or better every single game here on out. If we end the season at -1, It'll mean we imporoved and should be a good team.

The offense is a work in progress. As I said many times before, the offense will be as improved this season as our defense was last season.
Right now the offensive line is still learning to work together as a unit. Plus Jansen is still not operating at 100%.
The QB needs to develop his timing with all the receivers. As the season goes on Patten, Thrash, Cooley and Jacobs will have more and more of an
impact. [Yes too all of those that have given up hope I said Jacobs, barring any further injury he WILL have an impact for us this year.]
The backs need to get healthy.
When all these things come together our offense should be firing on all cylinders. Right now I'd estimate that they're operating at about 70% capacity.

What you say is VERY true. Although, if Gibbs has anything to do about it [and luckily for us he does] we will be on the plus side of this ratio within the next few weeks.
