My all-time favorite is Robert Schimmell. My wife and I have seen him several times at the DC Improv, and he gets better every time. He can be dirty...and he can be emotional (he is a cancer survivor)...but nonetheless, he commands an audience like I have never seen before...
I HIGHLY recommend seeing him, if you have the chance.

Dane Cook is on top of his game right now. He's by far my favorite. His stand up is better than Chappelle's.

I saw him in August in Virginia Beach and got to shake his hand after the show. His timing is impeccable. He finished his act with an emotional presentation on his bout with cancer and it was enlightening. My wife and I went out on a double date and when the night was through our mid sections hurt from laughing so hard.
It's pretty hard to narrow it down to one Comedian, but if I had to go with Robert I'd be comfortable with that.

I've also met and shook his hand after a show. (He signed his HBO DVD for me) He is a class act...and he really brings a reality to cancer to the many who are effected by cancer in one way or another.
If anyone is interested in seeing him, I recommend bringing along some old comedy CDs/Tapes. He collects them and donates them to cancer clinics, so people going through Kemo can enjoy a laugh through a troubling time.
Dont' get me wrong folks. Schimmell may be a proponent for cancer awareness...but he is as rauncy as they come.
Go to his show!

Lewis Black is my favorite. The Dave Chapelle show was hillarious the first 50 times I saw each skit, but unforunately we won't be getting any new ones.

Dane Cook, Dave Chappelle, and Dave Attell is really, really good. Attell has stand up down to a freaking science.
But my favorite of all time, even though his career was cut really short, was Mitch Hedberg. Dude was original, the delivery on his lines was great, and basically everything he said was just funny.
RIP Mitch.

Maybe this is the thread to do it, but there probably one comedian I absolutely despise.... Chris Rock. I'm all for race humor (as long as it isn't malicious), but that seems to be his entire stick. I wouldn't go see him unless I was paid to do so.

My most hated "comic" (if you can call her that) is Lisa Lampanelli. It pains me to hear her voice. I lose IQ points from hearing her try to be funny.
If you've seen her do ANYTHING on Comedy Central, then you'll know.

That's weird Smoak, I was just about to post the same thing. I saw his stand up the other day and, whil I did laught at some things, I found his performance extremely racist. It was really quite sickening.

My favorite is this one joke he does about the football coin toss. He talks about what if major history events started with a coin toss. HILLARIOUS. I've heard it a thousand times and it still makes me laugh every time. As a matter of fact, I think I'm going to listen to that right now.

Pryor, Chappelle, Murphy, Seinfeld, Carlin, Brewer, Cosby, Lawrence, Carrey, and so many guys that I have seen over the years on one night stands whose names escape me. Like anyone remember the show Boston Common? The guy from that show who is on another sitcom that I can't think of the name right now does some really funny stand-up.

Jim Brewer had one of the single funniest stand up specials I've ever seen. He related drinking to socializing and talked about how drinking beer is hanging out with a few close buddies... the alcohol comparisons continue to the point where he says "and THEN tequila shows up". Hysterical!!

Hysterical!! Yeah, that was my favorite. I was rolling after I heard that the first time. Also the part in that one where he talks about messing with the cops because he always looks stoned is great.

Martin Lawrence or Dave Chapelle. I have watched episodes of Chapelle and standup of Lawrence that left me in tears I was crying so much. These guys are amazingly hilarious. Check out Chapelle's "Real World" if you haven't seen it. It is one of the funniest 1/2 hours you can find.

On Chapelle's first standup special when he was talking about being afraid to call the cops if someone broke into his house because they would mistakenly think he was the robber was hillarious. (cops speaking)" I've seen it a thousand times Johnson. ****** broke in here and put pictures of himself all through the house..... Now sprinkle some crack on him and lets go."

Bill Hicks: "A lot of Christians wear crosses around their necks. You think when Jesus comes back, he ever wants to see a ******* cross? Kind of like going up to Jackie Onassis with a rifle pendant on, you know."
