He needs 143 yds to gain 5,000 in his career in 50 games. Only Eric Dickerson, Jim Brown, Earl Campbell and Terrell Davis have done that. Pretty impressive, do u guys think he can get that? I dont know, his shin injury seems like it is slowing him down a bit.

Sorry if this was already posted, i couldnt find it

Yes, he can do it and I hope he does. Portis just needs to see the endzone a couple times. That will really help his confidence along with our entire red zone's confidence. This would be the game he could hit 150+ when all is considered.

Portis says he's not into the personal stats but he has to have personal goals that can be attributed to stats. Since Gibbs likes him so much, I can see him trying to get it for him. I do agree though, the shin injury could pose challenges for him in attaining this record.

He was talking before the season began about how he was looking forward to averaging 9 ypc this season to get his career average back up to 5.5.

I agree his shin seems to banged up to have a really big day. Plus if its a blowout, like everyone is predicting, he might not even play all that much. Hopefully he can put together some bug runs in the first half.

I'd rather him get a touchdown or two rushing so we can get that monkey off our backs and get some confidence running the ball near the goal line.

if portis can have a really dominant day, with him getting yds and tds, and our defense shutting down the 49ers offensively, i think our team, as a whole, will look as good as it has been in a while.

i think he can do it. he would have had a lot more yards against the Chiefs if we had not fumbled and fallen behind. he had some nice carries early in that game. if he's healthy and we dont turn the ball over and we dont fall behind and abandon the run game, he could get it.

As far as individual stats go, I'm just hoping Moss can break Rices yards in a season record this year.

That would be insanely sweet. The chances of him and Brunell staying healthy together completely for the whole are slim, but you never know. I think they will both have to remain healthy the entire year for a chance at that though.

I hope he gets 243 and 9 TD's, but I'll be happy with a dominate win.

What's the record and how many yards does Moss have so far?

the record is 1,848 (i believe) and moss has like 631 yds i think (this is coming from the top of my head). hes on pace for over 2,000 yards, but lets be realistic, defenses will soon be able to cover him better in upcoming weeks. he should still have a trememdous season

I like his chances on two reasons.

SF's Dline is is not small (corrected earlier statement), poses more of a problem for QB's than RB's, as they are capable of amassing sacks, but the run they don't necessarily contain. They rely on smaller LB's too, but we have an HBack instead of 3rd WR, to accommodate a TE, with the HB's ability to motion, instead of a 2 time shifting or set FB. Points of attack are given more emphasis, and Portis will run with more authority. The key is to have the Tackles move their man with more thrust to eliminate backside pursuit, as well the TE/H-Back's to get the right angle and advantage.

The OLine is designed in three phases for packages. The first package will lead the second, since the scripted plays will see where SF has its designs on blitzing, stopping the run.

I believe we will run more in the last three qtrs of the game.

I hope he does it. My fantasy teams could use it, plus that's some pretty elite company to be in. Eric Dickerson, Jim Brown, Earl Campbell and Terrell Davis are all HOFers or 2000 yard rushers.

I really don't care much for individual stats, but I'd like to see him get it. All I really care about is the "W".

I hope he gets it, but not because I care about the individual stats. If he gets it, it's a pretty indicator that the skins dominated the line and therefore the game. So I view the rushing success as a natural outcome of a comfortable W.

I would to see Portis get it then MAYBE some people can stop calling him a "Scheme-back" and look at him as a truly great RB.

On a side note, has anyone else seen that Clinton Portis Hungry Man commerial? I just saw it on espn and its pretty funny.

To summarize, Basically he's grocery shopping and his carts full of hungry man dinners. Theres no room in the back of Warren Sapps Hummer to fit them all in because of these huge speakers, so Portis takes the speakers out and puts the dinners in. When they drive off, the speakers are dragging and Portis is smirking.

Not the greatest commercial in the world, but its nice to see someone other than McNabb on TV.

Sonny asked him if he was upset about not getting the record and Portis had no idea what so ever that he even had the opportunity. I was shocked that he didnt know and he even told Sonny that he should have told him about it.

He would have gotten the recorded if he played in the 4th quarter. He's young there are other records he will make.

I've always thought records are for indivuduals, but wins and championships are for teams. Good job CP and get ready for next week!
