View Full Version : Venting-- Disrespected Ramsey
truant

I've gotta get this out... sorry, in advance, for the rant
I'm so tired of Ramsey getting no respect. I can deal with going to parties and having fans call him out--- that's fun (kinda) :)
BUT-- any member of the press totally ignores him when they talk about Quarterback classes. There is an article on ESPN about how QB's should sit for a year. They talk about Harrington and Carr, but no mention of Ramsey. Pat had the best win/loss ratio, touchdown/int ratio and QB rating than Harrington and Carr. They don't treat Ram as a first round QB in last years' class.
I know the flip side is let Ramsey earn it on the field. And I think he will, but it's vexing to see how he's ignored-- and yet once Pat turns it on this year John Clayton will be spit-washing his boots.
This will be all water under the bridge come week 1 when Pat really "earns" his stripes, but I want to remember how little love he gets now compared to when they start mentioning him regularly with Harrington and Carr.

no need to apologize truant, i've felt the same way for awhile. its like people completely forget that Ram was a 1st round pick as well and it bothers me. i think he had a better year then both carr and harrington but i think that he doesnt and didnt receive as much attention i because he was drafted late and wasnt hyped up before the draft. i dont care anymore though. he doesnt need anymore pressure on him to succeed. he gets enough of that from redskins fans. i just hope and pray that he throws for 3500+ yds, 25 TDs, 10-15 INTS and leads up to a winning record so that we all can say......HA! WE TOLD YOU SO!

I actually think that it's great. let them continue to disrespect him. We as fans and Ramsey himself can have it both ways. No one expects him to do anything worthwhile, see he can relax a little and play his game (I know that's easier said then done however). Maybe teams will not take him seriously until it's too late. Also, after he goes out and proves the cynics wrong, we can all sit back with cigars and Heinekens in hand enjoying the last laugh. At least that's my newfound approach.

Good points rskinsfan. But, I can also see where truant is coming from. Its just like the OL thread someone started earlier. The journalist has the Cowgirls OL rated above the Skins.
We'll let the season talk for us. Ramsey and OL will have the final laugh.

That was my thoughts exactly Kenny, let Ramsey sneak up on everyone. He will get his due when he hoists the trophy over his head this year :D

Don't get me wrong. I agree with everything that truant said. It's just that I've decided to take a new approach in regards to the haters.

That's the way I feel. We can't help how people feel about the Skins and our players. Pat will have to prove everything on the field which is what he will do.

Non-Skins fans have been "misinterpreting" his rookie year stats. They only see the TD and INT columns...and see that he had more INTs than TDs. HOWEVER, us Skins fans know that two of those interceptions came off Hail Mary passes. Ramsey was on the bench prior to throwing those passes, and was simply pulled into the game b/c of his big arm.
An interception on a Hail Mary usually gives more fault to the receivers than the guy throwing the bomb.

He had 9 Td's and 8 int, but yes some were on hail marys which shouldn't count. At least non skins fans can look at the Philly game, 213 yrds, 3 td's, no int's, i forgot the completion %

I dont agree with disrespect, but as afr as giving respect, I can see Ramsey not garnishign respect in total. To me, you ahve to earn and deserve respect. He can do that this season. But, he he has not doen it yet. he needs to play a full season and deliver the goods.

I agree, Ramsey to be honest has not done anything to be rated yet...I will capatalize the word YET! :)

I agree with these posts.
I think for us Fans, Ramsey is someone to get behind, we haven't had a QB in some time that was truly talented and likeable I think he is already garnering support and loyalty by the fans and his teammates. Which (hopefully) translates into the OL wanting to protect him, I believe they will step up.
Let the rest of the league and media disregard him, he can surprise them on game day!

I agree with the comments regarding less pressure coming from less attention. There are so many writers and commentators out there that we can't get too rattled over our guy getting excluded from acknowledgement in some article. Actually, I think most of the 'experts' out there are far more skeptical of Spurrier's offense making a big splash in the NFL and might think that the ole ball coach might be the first line of defense against Ram having success. I don't think that but I bet alot do.
Its a given that there will always be haters. Oh well. All the sweeter it will be when this ship is righted.

i completely agree tex, but harrington and carr havent done anything yet either. but people still talk about them like they are going to be future HOFers. i think thats the point that truant was trying to make.

Well thats what comes with them being picked soo high. it does not always work out as we have seen soo many times and had to endure ourselves (Shuler). I have a good feeling about Ramsey though. He looks to be the real deal.
