WHAT!!!? I know the realistically UNC should not be in top 10, but doesn't the reigning champ open up at the top or no?
Either way, Coach K is a fraud and Dook is going down. Now I actually have to root against the Olympic basketball team as well...

Not really, there is a reason this is the preseason rankings and not what were the rankings at the end of last season. Now if UNC had a couple players returning from last year I would agree with you.

Don't get me wrong, I don't think they should take all the teams and rank them from last year... I just thought the reiging champs got more love even if they lost some players. I guess when you lose as many as we did thought that won't fly.

Duck Fook.
The medoits have there nose's so far up Coach K's butt I am surprised that they don't demand the NCAA give Dook the trophie before the games are even played.

First of all, I don't like preseason rankings. Way to much speculation to mean anything. You need to give it a couple of games before people can vote. I don't think Duke will be there long, so I'm not worried. UK takes its customary 8-10 range in a preseason poll. The d00k lovin in the polls shouldn't be new to anyone.

Not only are we (UNC) not in the top ten, which we shouldn't be, we aren't even in the top 25 lol. I hope these guys are wrong, but I can wait a year to see the recruiting class we have coming in for 06-07.

You aren't kidding. And now that K is coaching the US Olympic team, I'll be rooting against us... or at least not watching.

That's nice. You guys will not cheer for an AMERICAN team because you're such haters. That's some damn fine patriotism you all have. Maybe if K gets some frickin Heels on his team it will make you American again. :banghead:

I cheered against the Americans in the last Olympics b/c of the selfish boring style of play. If USA basketball returns to fundamentals and plays inspired ball then I'll get behind them and just dislike the coach. But in all honesty, I don't see it happenening. Foreign players paly a better fundamental game than American kids.
I haven't rooted for USA basketball for a few years and they are NOT putting a product on the floor worth our cheers. They don't care.
For me, this is NOT a situation like being a Skins fan. These players are an embarrassment to our ccountry, and half of them (like Kobe) are too good to even bother playing for our country.

You don't think its likely that the players go back to playing an inspired and fundamental brand of basketball with Coach K? Isn't that the reason they hired him in the first place, to bring the team oriented style of play that he is famous for and to make over the roster with team players?
I know a lot of people hate K's guts but the guy will probably end up saving USA Basketball.

No. HE coaches teams well when the 3-pointer is 50% of the game, much like international basketball. Take, for example, Lithuania. They had that one guy who could shoot 3's and that was all they needed. He put up 40 on the US, and they won in the early rounds. I watch some int'l basketball, but there isn't too much passion surrounding the games, especially from the US side of it.
As for the college bball talk, watch out for GW. They only lost TJ Thompson from last year's team which won the A-10, and the BB&T easily over UMD and MSU. GW plays very entertainign basketball and watch JR Pinnock, as he could be a big surprise.

So K isn't known for stressing team basketball and the fundamentals on his teams, only draining three pointers? The rep I've known K to have is of coaching a very team oriented style of play that USA Basketball has been severely lacking. I doubt they hired the guy just to coach players to shoot 3's the whole time.

Holy cow? The National Runner Up doesn't even make the top ten preseason? Illinois must have been all Deron Williams and Luther Head.

Couldn't agree more ............ first poll should not come out till the first week of the new year or conference play starts.

Ah, yeah, that's what they hired Larry Brown to do as well. Problem is when only ONE bonafied SUPERSTAR (Iverson) is willing to play. It's not the coaching. L Brown is the greatest coach ever, it the failure of the best players wanting to play.

Fill two teams with exactly the same players, no advantage in talent, and Larry's team would crush K.

I think it's a pretty good system, especially the playoffs. The right team will be there in the end.I get the same feeling from duke this year as I did from Carolina last year. They're going to be hard to beat.
