View Full Version : Embaressing

That game in every facet of the game was embaressing. The Skins simply got beat up and thrown around all over the field.

I am hoping that this performance is not indictive of our actual ability.

pretty much.

Our offense looked worse than at any point last year. Our defense looked as bad as our offense and we got owned. Lets hope its motivation for Philly. Undefeated in OUR house.

Embarrasing is spelling embarrassing wrong :(

no, but seriously though that was horrendous to watch. That turnover at the beginning of the 3rd quarter was like a shot through the heart. I certainly hope our guys find some motivation for next week, and I really, really hope some of our guys are ok. Those injuries are gonna kill us.

What kills me is that everyone except the Redskins knew this was a big game. Nobody showed up, defense or offense. Tiki Barber outgained our entire team on offense. Unbelievable to say the least.

The Giants exposed our run defense and I am sure that everyone will run at us the same way until we stop it. The same running plays over and over again and we could not figure out a way to stop it.

It did seem that they were running right at Holdman, but Lavar just like the rest of the defense made the Giants look like world beaters. If Holdman is going to overrun plays and not play his gaps then Lavar should be on the field on every play from this moment on. I rather have Lavar on the field making those mistakes then Holdman becuase atleast Lavar can make a huge play everynow and then. Holdman hasnt made any plays all year.

It was killing me too see lavar with his helmet off and holdman getting gashed play after play...i would like to see how many times they ran left as opposed to right, i bet it was something like 20 to 7 or so. i agree with your point about arrington, i don't know what coach williams is trying to prove anymore

Let's see now, when running/screen passing to the left we have:

Tatum Bell touchdown
Priest Holmes Touchdown
Frank Gore Touchdown
Tiki Barber 50+ Yard x2

I think the opposing offenses are catching on to the weakness of our weak side. Ironic, huh?

everyone is to blame, and i am going to avoid the boards b/c that was awful. i've never felt so embarrassed and let down by a gibbs coached team... EVER!

Catching on? Caught on is more like it.

The thing that kills me is that our defense is built on stopping the run and we have had problems doing such this season. I thought that the denver game was a fluke but this has been going on each week since with the defense giving up HUUUGGGE plays.

Honestly, I just hope our confidence is alright. We have seen firsthand how much a little self esteem does to your play. In the end i think that Gibbs will get the guys goin and we'll be back next week. I seriously doubt that the players start thinking "uh oh, here comes last year again"

i don't think i felt this depressed after playoff loses under gibbs 1.0. the team completely quit out there and i'd be ok if he cut every single stinking one of them.

ok, i need to go watch a movie b/c i am hurting after that game.

Complete embarrassment. Can't blame the refs, the giants, the fans, the moon... No, you can just blame the weaklings who showed up this week at the meadowlands. Just a complete thrashing. I mean was there even a Redskin highlight today?

Dropped balls, piss poor blocking, fumbl-itis, poor running, missed tackles, no heart... etc etc

I saw a lot of hand shakes and pats on our side. Next time someone kicks my a$$ like that I'll be sure to thank him or her. Pfffffffft

Not that any difference in the game happens because of him but watch him let go of Jacobs.

Did you see Walt Harris? Oh my God that guy looked like he was playing tackle football for the first time. He wanted no part of anything involving contact. I'm so steamed over him, Royal, and Betts. 3 losers i'm sick of. Patten and Taylor Jacobs are on deck, they better start doing something or I'll run their names off any civilized Redskin's message board too.

Very uninspired play by the Skins. Maddox, I mean Brunnell, was terrible again. The frustrated quarterback in "Napoleon Dynamite" had better form.

Put the Kid in, or draw a seat number from the stands, for better QB'ing.

We need a field commander behind the center. I think that would provide a spark for the entire team.

Brunell was playing very good football and now he has one very very very bad game and you would bench him. If not for him we could be 2-5.

What are you talking about? What do you mean "terrible again"? He had one bad play, the pick. He had NINE DROPPED BALLS, some of which would've been clutch third down conversions. He had NO TIME thanks to a pathetic performance by Samuels and (more understandably) the ancient Ray Brown. People were simply not getting open, no running game, no blocking, and you are blaming Brunell? Unbelievable.

Brunell did not look comfortable at all but its hard to when no one will block, catch or run. Is it me or did it seem like the RB's were trying to run over their own linemen instead of between or around them.

Some fans defend Brunie as if the Skins had lost by a single point on Sunday.
No offense was generated and some still give the QB a free pass. Huh?

I was in Boston when Bledsoe was the QB, and I defended him each week and blamed other players for the losses. Along comes the injury to Bledsoe and Brady's sudden appearance (I didn't even know his name!). The rest is history. Pats fans were actually in "season over" mode when Brady took to the field that fateful day.

Lesson: Don't waste time on a QB who lacks leadership skills and appears confused and flat-footed in the pocket. The stain is felt throughout the team.

Anybody else see Ray Brown get in on that first snap and just get completely destroyed? Being a Skins fan who doesn't like Ray Brown after last season, I laughed so much at him just toppling over. It's performances like that that we need to get off our offensive line.

brinell did his job the best he could. we had no run game and when he did have time players dropped balls. if ur ready to hang up brunell after one game go ahead. thats on you. right now he has our best chance at winning. i blame every one though. including gibbs. first play from offense was a pass. that told me it would be a long day. i was hurt today as a skins fan. never felt so let down in my life. a loss is one thing but what i saw today disgusted me

It was a dreadful day, no question, and was sickening to watch.

Still, I'm sure all of us have seen even dominant teams have inexplicably bad days, and even horrid days like ours was. Who among us though really believes today's sad performance was/is indicative of what our squad is really all about?

As shameful a defeat as today's was, I think we should regard it as an aberrant performance by a team that is growing, learning, and maturing.

In other words, let's keep things in perspective and not panic.

Redskin Scott -

I wish I could agree with you. I really want to. Maybe it would help me out of a darker place than I have been in a long time. But this was Philly/Pittsburgh or Patriots/Dolphins. It was a game where we didn't even show up against a division opponent for FIRST FLIPPING PLACE ALL ALONE! Losing I can handle, but to a man they were about as bad as any Redskin team in the history book. I can't imagine it'll get better this week with the Iggles coming to town. I can only hope and pray that they'll get healthy and be angry... but I just don't know.

I think the depression felt by the fans so deeply springs from the hunger we all have to have a team we can FINALLY be proud of, a team we can feel confident in, etc., etc. It's been SO LONG since we have seen or felt that. And it seems like whenever the Redskins inspire some sort of feeling that, "Wow, things are finally changing," they immediately let us down.

But like Smoak and others said, I don't EVER remember a worse let down from a Joe Gibbs-coached team, and that bothers me deeply. I went to bed thinking I'd feel better and more positive this morning, but it's just the opposite. I'm actually MORE upset, more angry, because I can't believe this team could let themselves, Gibbs and the fans down the way they did yesterday. It was total humiliation.

I just wish I had a chance to visit Redskins park today and let the players know what I think of their performance. Gibbs should bring in a bus-load of us depressed fans and force the players to sit and endure our obscenity-laced rants, because I question their heart, their pride and their very manhood after what I saw yesterday. I consider myself somewhat of a Redskins historian when it comes to game history, and I can tell you this with no hesitation - rarely has the burgundy and gold been disgraced that deeply.
