It seems like the right side of our defense is pretty weak. Teams have ran successfully to that side. Where is Phillips Daniels and what can GW do about it?

They are running right over Phillip Daniels and Warrick Holdman. We are sorely mssing a big run stuffing DT in the middle of our defense.

Not much we can do about while LaVar is still learning how to play weak-side in a position oriented defense. I think teams have realized that all they have to do is run at Warrick Holdman.
Our pass defense is still good, I mean we didn't give up any fantastic pass plays. Khary Campbell should be released. Walt Harris should spend the next couple offseasons doing nothing but weightlifting.
Chris Samuels, if he is ok, needs to learn how to step backwards. You would figure that someone in the NFL would understand how to prevent a speed rush, but he obviously hasn't figured it out.
Someone clearly stole our playbook, we need to find that before next week.
And for the love of god do not post anything from antonio pierce around here. He's gonna be like the damn Chesshire cat grinning and stuff.

Yeah....kinda my thoughts as well................that I would like to shoot Samuels right in that cro-magnon skull of his............Samuels was getting beat in the KC game by some no namer & AGAIN SAMUELS was getting beaten-.............Can you say REGRESSION????

Time to revise your mock drafts Conrad. If we happen to get a 3rd rounder for Ramsey we still should draft for defense on 2 of the 3 picks. Either a DE, DT or ILB should be drafted. God I'm depressed.

First of all, I am happy.
Yea, that pretty much sums it up.
Other then that though, the Giants defense showed up today. It surprised me even. I didn't know we could cause that much problems. But I think the biggest thing was turnovers. The skins killed themselves. If you give anyone that good of feild position, they are going to score.
I'm looking foward to the next matchup in Dec. I just don't want to look to far ahead. The Giants still have a long road ahead of them.

I wouldn't go as far to say the Giants defense showed up. The Skins, when they weren't turning the ball over on our side of the field were dropping balls left and right. Four straight turnovers will cost you a game against anyone.

The G-Men dominated the Redskins today, on both sides of the ball. The Giants seemed to have 7 players in coverage and 7 rushing the QB on every play.

My thoughts are that this seems to be a one-time thing. I highly doubt that we would see that much of a drop off in one week. Everybody played terribley, and Gibbs should, and probably will, rip them a new one all week long. Let's put this debacle behind us, we got Philly next week.

Right: you give a team 4 straight turnovers and plenty of dropped passes, and you will lose in the NFL, no matter who you are playing. The Giants were playing on a emotional high, but they aren't as good as this game showed. So, were you happy or sad about the game, since it is unclear who you are really a fan of, the Giants or Redskins?

To me, it seems like our D is receiving blocks rather than taking them on and allowing people to get their hands on them. Esp. on the runs to the outside. We seem to be anticipating rather than reacting. And the arm tackles are KILLING me!!
On O today we just stunk it up. Remided me of last year really...lots of dropped balls, penalty's and turnovers when we seem to get something going. Everyone seemed lackadasicle (SP?). No sense of urgency. Playcalling also seemed to get very conservative as the game went on. Didnt like that either.
Plus I think a lot of people arent 100%.
Overall: Giants wanted it more

Guys, why didn't we run the ball more with portis / betts?
i know we didn't have that many plays, but if in the early going weren't throwing so much and ran those stretch plays and counter-treys we could have gotten a few first downs because the giants were only rushing 4 DOWN LINEMAN AND DROP 7 IN COVERAGE.
again i understand that we didn't have any plays, and early on we were behind by alot, but if succesfully are pickin' up first downs with the run game then they have to come up to stop it. allowing our offense to do what it does with Moss - Brunell.
Finally, So many drop passes!!!!
Anybody else hopping we can pick up Vernon Davis from Maryland in the draft.
Patten needs to hold on better, Royal ^, moss (can't talk shit, everybody has a sour day).

What else can I say other tan I owe you an apology. The giants played the perfect game, and the skins played the worse possible game, and you guys beat us every single way you can beat us. And in addition to that, we beat ourselves every way we could. Hats off to you, and I stand corrected.
That being said, next week is going to be VERY interesting. I can't see Gibbs and co. taking this lightly. In addition to that it'll be interesting to see what the giants have left in the tank. They played such an emotional game that I think if they're not careful, next week could be a major letdown for them. As far a we go, next week is going to be a bad week to have sensitive ears at Redskins Park. If we're for real at all, we need to play next week like we have something to prove (whivh we most certianly do) and soundly beat the crap out of the eagles.....

OK, wait - did you feel that way after the second Eagles game last year? But I agree that his ability to protect the football stinks. Like, no sense of urgency when he has it for protection.
Why did we get rid of Groom to sign Frost?
I attribute it to some hallucenogenic effect. What other reason? Frost kicks like a lame high school punter.
Our offensive line is inconsistent.
I've been groaning for weeks now that they are seriously underperforming, that it would come to greatly haunt this team. It's gotten little comment. Maybe barely winning, barely losing, and that the SF thing kept fans here somewhat disinterested. And now, after the SF sideshow - which is clearly what it was because SF isn't NFL caliber - they are back to their porous, half-hearted blocking. And clearly this show ain't over yet. Sack Attack - that should be our O-line's nickname. Huge talents, huge underperformance. I have always absolutely loved Gibbs and still do; Bugel is the one I must question at this point. Not saying it is all his fault, but I don't give him the auto credit as I do Gibbs. It is not like he is saddled with poor talent or mega injuries to his line.
And I continue to be unimpressed by our inconsistent running backs. Big names and contracts - who cares? Show consistent stats and ability to come through against the big teams. There was once Riggo, there was once Byner (I guess Riggs for a bit), and then there have been some 'other people'. No one has made an outstanding name for themselves anywhere near those guys as long-time, clutch producers for this team. When it happens, then I will change my tune.
We must stop the run better.
Run protection in the large plays every game shows a key, consistent weakness. I am not sure it will change unless it is identified. I have no clue what it is. But it ain't a 'fluke', folks.
Sure this game was an abberration but it did point out somethings we need to work on.
This game was no more an abberration than the Dallas game where we got kicked around all game long and then won it miraculously in the last few minutes. The 'boys let down and lost. Today the Skins never showed up and got violated. Fandom must accept it as it is and move on.
Is all this harsh? Nothing like what the coaches will dish out, folks. You get nowhere by glossing over reality.
Next week will show you what this team is really about!

Come on guys honestly. We all said the same thing before the game. If we turn the ball over we can't win. Now you might say ok Greek but we got killed. Yes we did but I never thought our receivers can't hold on to the ball.
Patten looked like Coles out there and Royal looked 10 times worse than 50/50. For me one play made the difference and no it wasn't the first long run by Tiki.
It was the drop by Patten on the 3 and long on a nice throw by Brunell. You have got to catch those. we have won 4 games because we didn't drop those passes. You catch that one then who knows. maybe we get a couple of more 1sts, get the running game going etc etc.
Honestly to you believe the Giants are 36 points better than us? BS. We played terrible just like they played terrible when they played SD, just like Philly played terrible today when Denver made them their b!tch.
time to suck it up and get our head out of cloud nine. Its time to get ready for the Eagles and they look very beatable...unless we play like we played today.
Note to Gregg Williams. I love you man but if you still think Holdman is the answer at weak side LB over lavar you are senile.

Well I do agree with a lot you said but one thing.
You still think SF is not NFL caliber? if you do you may want to ask a second opinion...you know like TB's.
In the NFL anyone can get killed at any given Sunday. Look what happend to the Eagles (same weather conditions BTW). We barely lost to Denver and the Eagles get owned. SF wins, etc. WE HAD A BAD GAME. Hell man a certain eventual Superbowl winner lost to a certain team and that certain team in the end had a record if 1-15. In the NFL if you are not ready to play hard you get owned like the Giants did today. They had the motivation, the history (at their place) and the desire, so we lost big. Now its time for them to play us at FedEx.

As far as our starting D-line goes (excluding Griffen) they are nonexistent.... I recorded the second half of the game and watched P.Daniels exclusively and he HAS NO EXPLOSION OFF THE SNAP AT ALL, and half the time he is a second and a half late off the snap!!!

In general I agree with you. Our D line (except Griffen) has been a weakness all season - no pass rush, and now has trouble stopping the run (though injuries and limited practice time may be affecting this - Griffen only was in for 2 plays this game). Our O-line at least has talent, but has been underperforming.
One new point I haven't seen discussed - any concerns with knowledge of our system and signals being known by Pierce and Hasselbeck? I think that could have significantly helped the Giants (although nothing would have changed the result as bad as the Skins played).

This one was almost beyond my ability to cope and leaves me with NO confidence that I have a clue about the game of football. Still, I would find a permanent place on the pine for Holdman and Daniels or ship them out and try to face the fact that our defense is going downhill fast. In fact, the D more or less sucks: Williams' x's and o's have been devined and now we need some studs on the DL not to be great, but competitive.
Trade Samuels for a DE, now. Figure the money later. Put Arrington in every package. What the hell, put him on offense too, in place of Samuels.
I have no other real idea what to do on offense. I hope to God Brunell's arm is not shot already and I never see again the type of play calling I saw today. I would also like to understand why we can't really run the ball, and would like to have a productive receiver to go with Cooley and Moss. Most of all, I would like to know why we have been so generous to our opponents the last three games. Are we a particularly stupid team? What's going on?

Good plan, lets go with a 40 year old at LT and it would be hard to trade Samuels since the trade deadline passed two weeks ago. And I know you're pining away for Ramsey, that ain't going happen.

I give Giants all the credit in that game because they truely beat us. Yes you can argue the injuries and fumbles but c'mon they terrorized us on both sides of that ball. It was so painful to watch I was numb by the end of the game. This was not a Bronco's or K.C. game where we beat ourselves.
As everyone's been stating our Defense looks to have a BIG weakness. Besides the obvious of Holdman being worthless does anyone wonder is not having Smoot is part of the problem too? I remember him being a big asset in stopping the outside run.
The O-line game grade "E". When you can't stop a 4 man pass rush how can you call yourself lineman? What can Brunell do with 2 seconds to throw the ball and 7 men in coverage? Brunells arm is not shot, his protection is!!!

Because of TV i don't know but I did see Brunell look to the left side of the field scanning recievers then turn his head to the right side. He was constantly looking for an open guy but the giants constantly had 7 men in coverage because 4 got the job done pass rushing. Doesn't that make more sense to you then Brunell suddenly struggling to find an open receiver 95% of the game while he had no problem doing it in the last 4 games?

Well, Samuels was hurt for a lot of the game, did you notice Ray Brown getting owned at Left Tackle?
No argument here about our D-Line, THEY SUCK!!! I guess GW is not a genius, we need a pass rushing DE worse than the Tuna needs a bra, worse than Jerry Jones needs a mask, worse than Andy Reid needs a stomach staple and last but not least, worse than Tom Coughlin needs to uncross his eyes and relax.

I'm not even worried about getting a pass rusher anymore, I just want to be able to stop the run again!!! Last year when my friends compained about needing a pass rusher I said, "Oh well, as long as we can continue to stop the run I can live without it" but now it seems we lost that. If teams can run on us consistantly we are doomed.

It seems like the right side of our defense is pretty weak. Teams have ran successfully to that side. Where is Phillips Daniels and what can GW do about it?
I've never seen such a debacle on one side of the field till today. Holy $h!T!! I just don't get how you can let the flood gates open up like that and not adjust.
Attention Gregg Williams, wake up and get a G$% %a^n #$%%ing DE before I F567ing KICK your F%^$ing a$$ w/ your stupid %^$@ing Defensive Back blitz 'packages.' Defensive lineman win games in the NFC East, not blitzing 190 lb fraile cornerbacks, those guys are for C-O-V-E-R-A-G-E!! If you don't F$%^ing believe me look at what the 31st ranked defensive line did to our #2 offense.

Wow, man, calm down. The game is over, it's done. No use freaking out over it.

No it's so stupid. Get a DE and stop using gimmicks that won't hold up through the test of time. Everybody in here come draft time wll forget this ever happened, want a 'sexy' no need pick. Did you see the left side of our D line today? I've been on these message boards long enough to know these things are forgotten by April.
Get a DE.:)

I see alot of people saying we need a run stuffing DT but how many yards total this season have we given up when teams ran on us down the middle? My guess would be about 3/4 less then on the edges seeing as the Giants barely even tried to run down the middle. The play of Salava'a and Griffin has been one of the only reasons this defense is half decent. Right now I'd say they're defensive MVPs and you can't expect them to cover for a middle linebacker who looks lost and defensive ends who couldn't outrun detective Ironside.

Samuels didn't have a good game, but he had little to do with the fumbling, dropped passes and inability to stop the outside run. Thats what killed the Skins today. Not defending him, but credit where credit is due.
Samuels didnt have a good game 2 weeks ago against the Cheifs when that NO_NAMER owned him all game long, hell, Samuels hasnt had a good season in two years yet we still make him the highest paid redskin in the history of the franchise.......WHY!
..
When the Rams played the Colts a few weeks back Pace (an elite tackle) SHUT FREENEY DOWN for the whole game.. The day that Samuels has to block Freeney I gaurentee you Brunell and Buges will consider retirement and Samuels probably makes more money than Pace and Freeney combined!!! (exageration , but close!)
I just have a problem with him getting paid like the ELITE Tackles (ogden, Roaf, Pace) when he is a avereage tackle....
Have you ever seen him pancake someone? I have every game this season Tivo'ed so far and he has been far from dominate in ANY game this season.

Well I do agree with a lot you said but one thing.
You still think SF is not NFL caliber? if you do you may want to ask a second opinion...you know like TB's.
Well, you got a seriously good point there. I guess this lesson is, you don't grade a team via one game, whether loss or win.

its unfailr to judge the skins after the performance of the SF and NY game. Judge them at the end of the season. you'll have more proof to back your theory.
