The Washington Redskins will offer veteran defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson a chance to recoup his lost income through incentive clauses if Wilkinson agrees to the pay cut the team wants him to accept, NFL sources said yesterday.

Wilkinson's status remained unclear while the Redskins picked up the pace of contract negotiations with their three draft choices. The team was close to completing a deal with its seventh-round selection, quarterback Gibran Hamdan, and was making progress toward signing second-round wide receiver Taylor Jacobs and third-round guard Derrick Dockery by the end of the week, sources said. The club is scheduled to report to training camp on Sunday at Redskins Park........

I like the idea of incentives. Maybe he'll accept that.

Hopefully he will, as without him we don't have crap at tackle

I'm all for it, but why would he agree to any of this? I guess he's in danger of being cut, but he certainly knows the Skins situation at DT and he holds all the cards. I say keep him unless another DT get's released.

Anyone know who's available right now? Nobody that I'm aware of ... I read that Chicago was thinking about releasing their DT (ted washington - is that right?).

Hell he probably wont go for incentives unless they are easy to obtain. He knows he wont reach most of them. If I sound down on Big Daddy its because he was supposed to bring dominance to our DL and has done nothing but collect a paycheck since hes been here imo.

i think that wilkinson HAS to at least consider this approach because i hope he realizes that his mediocre career stats arent going to make him 3.5 million a year any where else.
