Most Disappointing Team
Baltimore Ravens – This has to be one of the biggest offensive choke-jobs in the last 10 years.Really? I didn't think there was that high expectations to begin with. How high do you dare dream with Boller at the helm.

Really? I didn't think there was that high expectations to begin with. How high do you dare dream with Boller at the helm.

I have never seen an organization and a fan base more delusional than that of the Baltimore Ravens. I remember when Boller had a decent outing in a SCRIMMAGE game this past summer - Billick had this smug look on his face like someone had already punched his ticket to the Super Bowl. I think they are so spoiled by the defense they have traditionally had there that they never temper their expectations.

That being said, the gig is up, and the fan base has started to wake up and turn on Billick and Boller. I don't expect Billick to be coaching there next season. If you take away his 2000 Super Bowl, he would be right up there with Norv Turner when it comes to highly-touted assistants who failed as Head Coach. Let's not forget, Billick was billed an "offensive genius" when he came to the Ravens from Minnesota. If you consider that Mike Nolan and Marvin Lewis's defenses have carried the team for the last 6 years, what exactly has Billick DONE since he has been there?

I love what Moss has done, and Smoot has been horrible in the Vikings D all year.I totally agree with that assessment.

Smoot worked in this defense. Makes you wander is Smooty is a system player?

I would still take my boy Smoot back and let him take Harris's spot at nickelback....

I told alot of my friends when Smoot left he was a system player. Also did you all see that he is out for 4-6 weeks now.Smoot would have been smart just to take a little less money and play for the SKINS.Now he is bye bye and Rogers will soon take his spot and in fine with that.

Smoot was one of my favorites. I kinda feel bad for him a little.
Moss is be given the chance to shine and back up his motto

I agree, Smoot was always one of my favorites. I can't think of one right now, but their has to be a worse offseason move than Smoot. How about the Vikes trading Moss for Napoleon Harris?????? Everybody said how Moss was destroying that teams chemistry and all his off field troubles, but they have more problems without him than they did with him.

Yes i agree with alot of you about smoot he was one of my Favorites.I think he just hurt himself because he is a system corner back.I dont really the only one i want back is Pierce.

I think my list goes like this...
Best off season addition - S. Moss.
Most Improved Player - M. Brunell
Best Coach - J. Gibbs
How are these 3 not locks.

The problem with tyhe Vikings (IMO) is that their coaching staff is ruining some decent players. A lot of talented guys had really bad seasons and Tice should be fired.

Since the vi-queens are under new management, they will have a new coach next year.

You on top of things man, again, of course. That rating of Smooty is sad, but oh well, little did he know Minnesota had NO idea how to USE him, which is the key, not the amount of money. Example, GW has LaVar, who's done this and that, and once did too free lancing, but under GW, he's back at a near Pro Bowl level, yet without a lot of things that slowed his stellar game down.

I also agree with the surprise job Nolan did following Marvin Lewis's actual fantastic job he did, second only to the 85 Bears and a streak with the intensity of the '77 Steelers! Billick has yet to show that MYSTICAL offense, when he does, I am sure ALL the fans will have canses and Medicare.

I liked Smoot as a Redskins too but he made his decision and now he has to live with. What I wonder is, how did he think that it was a good decision? The Vikings were in the middle of being sold, have questionable talent, and are coached by Mike Tice, not to mention that you have to live in Minnesota. He had to see that the Skins were on the way up, far better talent, a Hall of Fame head coach and Greg Williams as a defensive coach. Makes me wonder what he was thinking.

I was never realy impressed with Fred Smoot. I've seen him get burnt on several occassions, too many to be a favorite of mine. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt though because atleast he could make a tackle (Walt Harris).

The thing about Smoot is he can't cover #1 receivers or tall receivers. He gives a huge cushion too.

As far as Billick goes, I really hope the Ravens don't come calling for Gregg Williams when BB gets the can.

Smoot was made better because he played next to Chump and Shawn Springs. I liked the guys fire but he left us for just a couple $100k more than what the Redskins were offering.

How many in hR and the media said the Redskins & Gibbs were absolute fools and village idiots for:

1. Trading Moss for Coles [Moss now tracking double Coles production]
2. Letting Smoot go [see article]
3. Playing Brunell as the starter [almost 100 QB rating]

The only guy I wish we had kept was Pierce.

I don't see that happening this year since (if things continue to go the way they have gone) this will be Brian Billick's first losing season with the Ravens.

I liked Smoot, too. But I did think he was surrounded by way better talent than he was. He plays with heart, but was vastly over rated as a "Top Tier" CB. Now Rogers on the other hand IS a Top Tier CB, and will eventually be better than Smoot ever could hope to be.

That being said, I wish he had re-signed here, but just like Pierce, he made a decision and has to live with it.

As Far a missing Pierce, Marshall leads the team in tackles, and is playing great week in and week out for a fraction of the money. I like Pierce, but I like Washington and Arrington a WHOLE lot better, Pierce doesn't deserve more money than them....

Especially with the lack of depth at DB, Smoot would have been ideal for us. Oh well, no use crying over spilt milk. Give Rodgers another year, he'll get better and eventually be one of the top CBs in the game.

With the amount of teams that will need new head coaches next season and the job GW has done for us these past 2 seasons I really doubt GW will still be here next season. I expect(hope) Greg Blache to be our DC next season if it is not GW. With that said I obviously hope that GW will be here next season but I just dont see that happening.

I hate to admit it, but its reality that GW will leave for greener pastures, or for atleast a head coaching job. Hopefully not next year though. If he can give us one more year, we will be something fierce next season.

I don't believe this. He said in an interview that he loves where he is. His kids love the area, and his wife is happy here. He said that coaching with Joe Gibbs is like a dream come true, and that playing with people you like is more important than having the bigger job. He also said he's not really worried about ever being a head coach again. He said he's done that already, and it wasn't as fun as what he's doing now.

I just don't see him leaving. To be honest, I don't see him becoming a head coach again until Gibbs retires.

Smoot and his collarbone or shoulder. Every season. I wrote about this last year - because he has a totallly weak tackling style. He sacrifices his shoulder joint and collar bone because of it. Every...dang... time.
