found this kind of interesting as how they are downplaying how important L. Coles was for them. I know this should probably be in the nfl forum but i figured because it had to do with Coles it would fit in here. sorry no link but here is the snippit:

Jets: It takes three wides to replace one Coles

The News
The Jets are using training camp to further adjust to life without No. 1 receiver Laveranues Coles. The current starters are Curtis Conway and Wayne Chrebet, with Santana Moss as the third receiver. "I think we have the ability to have three people who we can rotate around and find out who is hot," offensive coordinator Paul Hackett told the Newark Star-Ledger. "Let's find out who is doing the things that they do best. That's really what this training camp is about -- who is going to fit into what role between the three guys. This isn't about replacing Laveranues Coles."
Our View
Is he kidding? Of course it's about replacing Coles, who never had fewer than 60 receiving yards after Chad Pennington took over. While we still have faith in Pennington, it's tough to get jazzed about any of his receivers. As Pennington said in the offseason, all three are probably going to catch 50 passes. That's like saying three running backs are going to rush for 600-700 yards. Oh goody.

Do you expect the Jets to dwell on the fact that he's gone? He did a good job for us here but now he's gone and that page has been turned. I like their attitudes regarding this matter, when we lost keyshawn it seemd to linger for a few years but I think this time the team has put it behind(at least publicly) quicker.

Yeah, they have to get over it. It'll be in the back of their minds though.

Well it will be tough to avoid the questions about all the ex-Jets/current 'Skins b/c of the week 1 Prime Time matchup but hopefully it's put to rest after that game is over.

Yeah, the media is going to ride us about those signings from the start of training camp to that first game. Everybody has their angle for that game now.

we go from thw washington gatorskins to the washington jetskins. i really hope that it will die down after week one but we know it wont because we are the skins. btw, if santana moss is supposed to be the guy to basically take over for coles, why isnt he starting ahead of the new guy in TC?

the only thing that pisses me off is when did the media ever joke or makes jokes about the Eagles, calling htem the Washington Eagles of Philly Redskins after they signed away Mitchell, Thrash, Barber, and Kalu?

Coles wasn't supposed to start in 2001 when he broke out, he earned that job in camp(although there was less competition than there is now). Moss still probably won't start but it's been reported that the Jets top 3 WRs(Moss, Conway & Chrebet) will get equal time so there truly isn't a #1, I don't know if that will work but I'm very confident that Santana will break out this year(provided he's healthy of course).

Moss is injured prone..I hope he gets on track with you guys. I think Pennington will miss Coles more then anyone. I don't think it will be that big of a deal losing Coles. I think Morton was a bigger loss. Taking it for a TD is nice but getting the ball at the 35 or 40 is what wins games. You guys last year where at the top of the league in regards to field postition. If you get it at the 35 or 40, you have a short field to work with. If you only gain 1 first down. You still have the chance to pin your oppenent deep in his terrtitory. Special Teams is so important and I think Morton was a big part of them last year.

i am an avid jets fan and didn't miss one second of jets football last season, no matter how many people gave up on them midseason. TexSkin, morton is not even close to being or biggest loss. you make it like he was the only reason for that field position. It was all westhoff's schemes... it's kind of hard not to have great field position when morton had such huge holes to run through. i am not bashing mortons ability, because he is an excellent KR... but with westhoff's system it will not be that hard to find someone to fill in. Coles is easily the one that will be missed the most. He was our passing game at the end of the season.... he made all of the huge catches and opened up the field, if he was not on the team last year... the jets would not have made the playoffs. coles will be a great WR for the skins... but do you actually think ramsey and him can develop the same chemisty as penny had with him? thats not something you practice. we will all just have to wait until the 4th.

KenKiller: I think it was a combo of Westhoff's schems and Chad's ability, they will miss him and I said in another post I was most upset about losing Chad but we'll still have a good KR game just not quite as good.

Actually down the stretch it was Chrebet & Moss making huge catches as well not just Coels and Coles(along w/ Chrebet) didn't show up for the Oak playoff game. Coles was horrible as he dropped passes, committed penalties and stood around and watched an INT he could easily have broken up, by the way that INT changed the game as it was 10-10 very late in the 3rd and they went on to lose 30-10.

Moss is an enormous talent, but a tiny guy. If he can stay healthy this year it'll be a big boost. Pairing Coles and Moss would have been great for the Jets, but now they've got to move on. I like Moss [when healthy] and I like Chrebet, who isn't the player he was but still has plenty of gas in the tank. I don't think much of Conway, though, who is very injury-prone and spends more time bitching than catching balls. I've never liked him. Actually, I was hoping a team I loathe like the Cowboys would wind up with him, instead of a time I sort of like, such as the Jets.

kenkiller9 welcome aboard btw..as far as Morton you might be right, we will just have to wait for the season to play out on that. Did they adequetly replace Thomas btw? Good lineman are extremly important as we have had to find out the hard way the past few years.

I think it'll take some time but yes, the chemistry can be developed between Ram and Coles.

...texskin ...we brought in tom nutten from the rams to replace thomas ... he is also being battled by a young kid we had backing up last year ...jonathon goodwin
...they both seem to be doing a fair job in camp ...
...i think rg is also the least important ol position...unless you have a left handed qb ... jets fans i don't believe are too worried about this switch...

With the emergence of the DT position, how can you say that any OL position is least important? Other then the tackle that is assigned to protecting the QB's blindside, I'd say that all the other OLinemen are of similar importance. Trust me when I say that Skins fans know this to be a fact.

People always want to bring up "chemistry" when talking about the Redskins. Does anyone remember that we signed these guys back in February? Thats 5 months of working out together already and I'm not even counting preseason. Now, if we had signed these guys after the June 1st cuts, then yes, I'd be a little more worried.

They have had enough time to practice together to know one another....
