Randy Starks, DT Maryland http://umterps.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/starks_randy00.html
David Pollack, DE Georgia http://georgiadogs.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/pollack_david00.html
Bo Schobel, DE TCU http://gofrogs.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/schobel_bo00.html
Marcus Tubbs, DT Texas http://www.mackbrown-texasfootball.com/pages/bios03/tubbs_marcus.html
I'll come up with some of my own during the season as I am joining the staff. Meanwhile here are some players you should watch. Not a coincidence that they're all d-lineman.
Just thought I'd add my personal favorite... http://hurricanesports.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/taylor_sean00.html

I like the fact that you are going DL. We have to go DT or DE next year in the first round.

Conventionly yes but I have a feeling that Sean Taylor kid is gonna be better then the any saftey that came out in the past 3 seasons. Plus, a guy like Schobel and maybe even Starks can drop.

You caught me. I didn't look at the link on your favorite. I took for granted that he was another DL. With all of the DL that Miami has sent to the pros recently I just assumed.
This kid definately has the size. Is he a big hitter? Man, at 6'3" and 220 pounds, he'd be a beast at safety.

He's basically a faster more agile version of Roy Williams. After the season ends there will be some debating if the guy's from planet earth, since he's already been projected as a top 20 pick as junior and hasn't really shown his full potential. YIKES

I predict Pollack will go in the top 10, so I hope we dont get him!
Who will be available between 25 and 32? That's where we will be drafting from...

Except Pollack, all of the d-linemen on there should be available, with Starks being my personal favorite.

what about if washington were able to trade down for a pick? i think will smith might look good in a redskin uniform. but since DT seems to be the biggest need right now, david pollack would be a great choice.

Hi RedskinRyan. Welcome to hR. Hope you will hang around and talk with us....
I don't really know a lot about any of these guys. I'll learn more once the season gets underway.

Ever since '94 I have watched the draft with a draft for need mentality. I was as happy as anyone when the Skins drafted Shuler and if the rest of you are honest, I think you will say that you were too at the time.
But this year I think I bought into the best player available philosophy. Therefore, I was not upset when Doss was bypassed (an area of need, at the time anyway) and Jacobs was taken. You have to stay true to your board.
Anyway, the reason I am lecturing everyone is that we can project the D Line to be an area of need next year, but there are a lot of variables and if a better player is there with more value who is not a D lineman, he should be taken or the pick should be traded.
Thoughts anyone??? Draft for need or best available?

Taylor sounds like a total monster I'd love to see him and Bowen in the same defensive backfield.
But to answer Robert's question I think that we have to go with need.
DT's like
Darnell Dockett FSU: FSU's alltime leader in tackles for loss
http://seminoles.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/dockett_darnell00.html
Tommie Harris OK (JR.): Decent size 6'3 294 and he runs a 4.8 (according to SI's college preview from last year)
http://www.houstonprofootball.com/draft/prospects/tharris.html
Marcus Tubbs TX: I don't know to much about him other than what's in BigCountry's link
Vince Wilfork Miami (JR): He's HUGE 6'2 345 and the "Canes have produced some great NFL linemen
http://hurricanesports.ocsn.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/wilfork_vince00.html
that's all I can think of right now.

We'd have to really suck to get Harris or Wilfork. Dockett is more of a 2nd or 3rd round sleeper, but he could skyrocket depending on what type of season he has. If he plays up to potential his game is similar to Corey Simon, and our QB's know how good Corey Simon is.

Just thought I'd look back and see when the Sean Taylor bandwaggon really started. (I know the UM fans on the board knew about him before I did)

Starks looks like a possible bust. I've been reading that he is no where near what Kris Jenkins was. Tubbs will make a nice pro for someone.

Starks a bust? I think not! And what exactly do you mean by "nowhere near where Kris Jenkins was"?

Starks seems as though he will need a few years to get comfortable.. He should have stayed in school... I have a feeling he is going to fall until the late second.

When I posted this before the last college season started, I thought Pollack would be a lock to enter the draft, the rest had pretty good season and should go in the first 2 rounds. Funny cause I've heard all I can take about Sean Taylor and I posted one of the first threads about him last summer.

Read what one prospect says. Stark's stock has been falling this off-season.

The Taylor debate is getting old I wish the draft would just happen so we could start talking about a guy that is on the roster.

I remember this thread, I really wanted to get a shot at Pollack this year. I think the fact that David Green stayed in school had an influence on Pollacks decision. They have been friends for a long time and are roommates in college. Georgia has a really good shot this year. If we get a shot at Pollack next year, that would mean we have a terrible season. Right now I think Pollack will go in the top ten in '05.
He's a beast oops, sorry Kenny. :cussing:

Matt Bowen is terrible i really don't think he should be back there over ohalete. Ifeanyi makes a trip back to strong safety and we take taylor however possible. That's our best situation. By the way check out my Thread(The Ultimate Trade), it details a couple of devious trades to create a beast '04 squad.
