I really cared more that Ortiz didn't win. I would have voted for Rivera myself.

I agree with you on Rivera. Between Arod and Ortiz I probably would have chosen Ortiz because if you remove then from their respective teams I think Boston is in a lot more trouble without Ortiz than the Yankees would have been without ARod. I thought Rivera was in serious trouble when the season started, but he put together a phenomenal year and especially with the struggles of the starting staff, was the glue that held the Yanks together.

Count me in the camp that ARod should have gotten the nod because of his being an everyday player. If his stats were much better then ARod's, then I think you could make a case to make him MVP. The defensive aspect, a much improved ARod at 3rd base IMO, put him over the top, and rightfully so.

Ortiz was a trendy choice but ARod deserved it. He needs to figure out how to get it going in the postseason though. Papi has him beat badly in that category.

Wow. Nice article about the MVP race between Papi and A-Rod. Congratz to A-Rod though, but I still think Papi is overall more valuable to his team.

If given the chance, the writers will pick a Yankee over a Red Sox every time. Even when it's the wrong choice, like this year.

We all know the MVP has never been about defense.

Defense wins championships, except in A-Rod's case I guess.....
