View Full Version : Royal getting torched!

Over the last couple of weeks Robert Royal's play has been poor. He has whiffed and given sacks multiple times. He's not much of a receiver, and he's simply overwhelmed physically on most plays. We need a TE before we gain any consistency on offense.
Any thought to lining up Molinaro and just max protect most of the time. Or maybe Rock? He would at least try to hit somebody.

Rock? That'd be like lining up a gnat in front of a semi, lol. I get your point though. Royal can't catch and he can't block and whether or not his family was at ground zero for Katrina, we have to upgrade this position. It's sad too, because he's got all the physical tools.

Oh, I'm sure that Doc will spare no due thrashing of a guy who plays his old position in this offense.

Heath (grumble grumble) Miller.
Seriously TE play has been poor as hell, and with Sellers hurt it is going to get worse. If we are not looking at a big free agent signing or a drafting a TE with our top pick next year (or at least 2nd pick as top pick may be DE) then I would be surprised as hell.

In Tampa, I think the play where Royal gave up was one where fans were blowing whistles. He hasn't played well and the position needs to be addressed.

royal-koslowski doesnt seem strong. You know what i would like to see. If we pick up a good te 3rd round of the draft or 2nd we could have hback plus Te that would save let loose santana a bit.

Robert Johnson is a beast, he showed up when he needed to, but apparently youve gotta play on the team for 10 straight weeks to get some PT around that coaching staff. Carlos Rogers and Johnson should be starting. Royal is our worst starter, unless you count Jacobs.

I agree. Royal has been a disaster. Johnson should be given a chance.

point taken. sometimes (in any job), at some point you take some lumps to get some experience and build some character, but you get no experience unless you take your lumps. when the old guys are still taking their lumps anyway (missed blocks, dropped passes, fumbles, etc.), you might as well see what the younger guy can do.

Royal struggling really isn't a shock. Going into the past offseason we all said we needed to upgrade at TE and many thought we should have drafted a guy or atleast brought in a FA to compete with Royal. We did neither and now we are paying the price for it.

Royal is one of those guys we have starting who would probably not even make another team's roster if he was released.
