Did anyone see PTI today, when talking about the Chragers he said they had an easy W next week against the Redskins. How quickly the media turns on us.

I hate when we get written off by everyone, because it seems that the team listens and starts loosing.
It hurts to know that we have been figured out.

the skins went from turn around team of the year to pathetic. We deserve all the negativity we get right now. It isn't so much that we aren't winning games, we aren't winning games we should be winning. On top of that we are all banged up. Wilbon would be a homer if he said the skins were going to win. The odds are again stacked heavily against us and we have lost every tough game except dallas this year. I don't think it is over yet, but we deserve a ribbing.

Can't blame him. No allegiance.
We can't concede anything.... do or die, backs against the wall and every other cliche like that is what the Redskins are at this point.
We can still do it.

I deleted my post above, since it didn't have enough teeth, merits and was more of a bandwagon rant. Samuels was criticized by me, when in fact he has played some games hurt, even when it was advisable to not play. I digress this time from being too silly with it. However, I will say we need to have the D and O line not just show the coaches they're trying but go out there and take over games every week, not just play to the level of the team they're playing.

So what's wrong with Wilbon saying the Chargers will win easily? They are the favorites, and frankly we haven't been playing all that well lately. I happen to agree with him, our defense isn't playing as well as last year, and defenses are figuring out how to stop us (double santana). We're better than last year, but we're still a mediocre team.
Note: My rooting interests aren't changing, I'm just not a blind fan.

Agree with on the rooting interest and it is true when you play like we did in the past two weeks, you come home empty handid from the store.

You know what..all of CBS had us winning the division or taking second. 2 said the gints and the boys aren't going to keep it up... that was before the game of course, but one loss doesn't change that. Who cares what Wilbon thinks...I watch PTI just to be annoyed when I'm bored... Let's just worry about the team and not what other people think. Remember what happened at the beginning of the season when we were written of as a nobody team....we beat the Bears who are *shudder* one of the best teams in the nfc...came back BIG on the cowboys to win... and beat the now 8-2 seahawks. We started 3-0 on some very tough teams and are one of only 2 teams to beat the sehawks and one of only 3 teams to beat the boys and bears...lets look forward and let the media freaks say whatever they want...

i'd say the only team that beat us soundly was the Giants. other than that, we've beaten ourselves in a lot of close games, but we dont seem to be any closer to correcting those flaws. Tendencies and weaknesses have been exposed, and it seems that instead of improving, the team is getting worse.

Actually I prefer when the media writes us off. It seems that is when we play our best. It's only when the media jumps on the bwagon that we start believing our own hype then the Giants come in and smack us around. I prefer to be the underdog anyway.

Wilbon is sadly correct, look we had trouble with tampa bay and oakland. So what tells the media that we can win this? Unless our defense picks it up i see no change. Except for new jerseys in the dline next season.

Considering how the Skins have struggled since getting nothing but love from the press, and they started well after being picked to win 4 games or less before the season, I hope that this will be an impetetus for the Skins. This team seems to play well with a chip on its shoulder.

Well when you lose 5 of your last 7 you aren't going to have many positive things written/said in the media. Especially when we drop a home game to the Raiders, w/ our offense looking as inept as it did. The reporters are going to look at the record, not how close the games have been.

Starting out 3-0 and going 2-5 the last seven games, with winnable games in those 7 games, well, why is it so hard to figure some people would lose faith? The team has done nothing to instill faith. They have a turnover ratio of -12, can not apply pressure to a QB, are depleted at WR with injuries, and the WRs left, except for Moss, can not gain an ounce of separation. You have to take the burgnady and gold glasses of us Die Hard fans off and view from anotuside perspective and see what casual fans or critics see, to realize, this team has done nothing to show why they shoudl have faith. Just another perspective...

Ahhhh, media-shmedia.......Personally, it doesn't bother me as to what they say or think, as they have no sway over my allegiance. I've been a loyal fan since I was a li'l snot-nosed kid in the early 70's. Hehehe, heck, I remember crying when they'd lose a game to the "Cowdungs",etc. As I've gotten older(and older!) I've gotten to be more realistic and objective when watching my favorite teams. And realistically, I've felt since pre-season that we are still just short of being a play-off caliber team. Certainly we're a lot better than last year, but we're still a few key positions away from being contenders-DE, TE, WR. If we(theFO) address these needs this coming off-season, then next year could indeed be our year to make a legitimate run for another title.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, to heck with what the media says or thinks! Just keep things in perspective nd always keep the faith!!:bounceit:

Did anyone see PTI today, when talking about the Chragers he said they had an easy W next week against the Redskins. How quickly the media turns on us.
Uhhh, theyre a strong 6-4, and we are a weak 5-5. They have won 6 of their last 8, beating teams like Kansas City, Oakland, and the Giants, teams that have all beaten the Redskins. By comparison, Yes, the skins are 5-5, but the Skins have only won 2 of their last 7, and 1 of those teams has about the talent level of my high school football team. The Redskins are falling apart at the seams, and we have several key players out for the game. The Raiders beat us at home last week, and the Chargers are a MUCH better team than the raiders. We have more injuries this week than we did last week. Our team didn't play with heart last week in the final quarters, and there is no reason to think they will this week. And if last week was any indication, "fans" are going to be booing our beloved team alot this week.
I would LOVE for the redskins to win this game. But, realistically, it ain't gonna happen. I would compare it to the Tampa Bay/49ers game a few weeks ago or the Greenbay/Atlanta game last week. There was NO WAY ON EARTH the 49ers and Packers would have, could have, or should have, won those game. Somehow they did. But it defied logic. It's the same with this game. The Chargers are an infinately better team at this point in the season. They "SHOULD" beat the Skins easily. Their fate will be sealed the moment the fans start booing.

Wilbon likes to slurp up to whoever is the hot team. We're not, and the Chargers are. Plus, everyone loved how the Chargers last year were supposed to suck, and won the division. The Brees story was a tissue-grabber for many, and everyone in the media wants to continue riding that bandwagon.
The Chargers could be playing the '72 Dolphins this week, and Wilbon would still kiss their a-double s. I wouldn't put too much stock into anything he says.

Shane88, I agree with your post 100% and it voices my thoughts. Next year will rock.
Look at the progress on the team for this year. Better players, more cohesiveness, exposed weakspots (which can be addressed), eliminated the penalty lack of discipline.
OK, terrible turnover ratio. Don't know what to say about that.
Injuries at WR and our d-line anchor (who, if memory serves me, had some injury issues last year, too?). That is hard to deal with - look at NE.
One thing that is progressively bugging me is the playcalling. I do question in a lot of these losses why the ground game has been so easily thrust aside. And I've yet to hear Gibbs give a good answer for that. This is the first time I can say I have some reservations about what is going on there. And the first time I've felt a little confused by his explanation (which, this time, there really wasn't much of one). So that bothers me.
But next year should be a great year. All the same, there is still much that needs to be done this year.

We just lost at home to the Raiders. My friends aren't even making fun of me, because they feel sorry for me. It's very understandable why someone might lose faith. The only reason that I think we have a chance this week is because the NFL is absolutely insane and San Diego isn't a big market so the NFL won't pull strings for them to get into the playoffs. Did I say that? No, I didn't.

I agree. We're not playing good football right now. We started out 3-0, and now we're 5-5. That's not playing good football. No pass rush and turnovers is making it extremely tough to win football games. We're close every game, but getting some turnovers would increase our record dramatically.

I used to like Wilbon, or at least not DISLIKE him. But the past year or so he's really gotten on my nerves. I wish it wasn't so shallow, but the reasons are purely superficial.
I hate the way he squints up half his face and talks out of the side of his mouth and I hate the sound of his voice(the way he emphasizes his words is what it really is). Don't know why or when it happened, but I can't stand to listen to him anymore. I can't even stand to read him because I can hear his voice and see his face in my head.
P.S. Hate it when he tells Tony that some one is "Your boy." Again, its not content that bothers me, its all the WAY he says it. Makes me shiver.

when exactly did Wilbon have faith in the Redskins? I TiVo PTI everyday and I don`t ever remember him having any faith in us and when reading the transcript from the Chat house he sure showed us no love. Who cares anyway....we know who the real fans are and thats us. No one in the media is a true fan of us except for our old QB Joe Theismann. I personally don`t care who in the media is showing us love I just want our Skins to show us some love and get in these playoffs!!

or Tom Jackson? he talks out the side of his mouth. i still like the way Wilbon and Kornhieser are able to argue and yell at each other while still keeping a smile. Wilbon's roots are in Chicago and i dont think he's ever really been a big fan of the Redskins. that makes him more objective IMO. i cant blame a guy like that, with his background, for losing faith. he probably never really had faith to begin with.

This is what happens when you have a couple injuries and your QB gets banged up.
It isn't rocket science to figure out how to double-team Santana. I'm just dumbfounded as to why other teams haven't done it.
The skins messed up this past Sunday when they didn't run Portis/Betts in the 2nd half. I thought Gibbs had learned this lesson last year. There was no reason to go to the air that much, especially when they were winning the game at the time.
I could care less what Wilbon says.
I can't post yet, but did anybody listen to the game last week on the radio? Sam sounded like he was lost almost the entire game. Sonny would make a point about something and 10 mins later Sam would say the same thing and wonder why Sonny was ragging on him...

Now that is odd, a homer in D. C. with not only his favorite team in Chicago, but he's from there, doing commentary on the Redskins? Oh my
