“Do you believe in miracles? YES!” Those were ABC-TV announcer Al Michael‘s last words into the microphoneas time finally expired on the USA vs. USSR medal round match-up at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic games.Ok this is a feel good thread about the redskins.Let me be the frst to say after Sunday's game i really wanted to just quit i told my wife after 30 + years without missing a game i am finished with the skins !! Then i got a thought. If you truly beleive in the redskins & miracles please post why the skins will make the playoffs. My reason is Joe Gibbs .“Do you believe in miracles? YES!” It will happen !!:)

we do not have an advantage if we are 2 games out of the division lead, no matter where our wins and losses came from. we can have division wins and conference wins, but if we have a worse record, as we do now, it is what it is in the end. no one is going to put us in the playoffs because we had more wins in the division or the conference, if our overall record is worse.

They have more than talent and clearly have to see that being at the bottom is worse than taking care of all the basics in a game. How to hold the ball, switch it properly and TIMELY to the correct hand, how to COMMUNICATE in EVERY situation, Helping your guys out on the field, clearing the mind of misgivings and moving on, and when they do, they win. Its that simple. When we ignore the refs and play our game we will be unstoppable. This TEAM WILL do this, because if they don't, they will have all writen their tickets for next season if they don't, no matter who it is!
Like a wild dog in a corner and with JG and GW on point for the stretch you just have to believe that you shouldn't want to follow anyone else with the schedule at hand.

Well, it only takes one hand to count the number of posts before this positivity thread went south.
I believe in miracles, we had one on Monday night back in September, don't know if we have any more this year though. I think one per year is more than enough though. What we need is no more screw ups, for lack of a better word. We have only been beaten once this year, the rest of the time we have beaten ourselves. I know it is starting to sound like a broken record but all we have to do is stop turning the ball over and force a couple on the other teams and we can win at least 75% of the time.

I believe that for some reason known only to powers greater than ourselves, the way things are coming at us, are lining us up to STILL control our destiny!
We already know that JG is brilliant and there is no way he gave away the secrets to any team of how he will approach them the next time in all three remaining division games. They have NO clue! As far as St. Lous, Ariz, San Diego go, the muscle of the team is what do they want to accomplish? Just to look good? That doesn't always equate to a win. They need nothing more or less than to win. No matter how it looks, get it done. Talk to their cocky players and let them know, just because you made a good play, you sitll have to KEEP making them over and over until the game's last gun sounds or just go somewhere else for a job and stop playing football.
So tired meaningless celebrations for chaning a tire or screwing a light buld, big deal! make a tackle, get and do it again, tackle, not just hit! wrap them up and offense stop wilting just because a guy makes a good play against you. Jeez, its not sandlot, don't you want to win?!

I do NOT believe in this group of Redskins at this point. That doesn't mean I've given up on them, but based on what they've shown me the last few weeks, I'm not about to delude myself into thinking that they're somehow about to make a 6-0 run.
They need to SHOW ME something. I'll be watching and cheering as always, but I seriously question this team's focus, drive, determination, killer instinct, you name it. Quite frankly, they have let the fans and themselves down once again, and I'm sick of it. Losing a horrendously played game to Norv Turner was the last straw. I'm tired of pie in the sky wishing based on nothing that exists in reality.
It's time for them to prove something to US, as fans, it's time for them to play with some passion and reckless abandon and play like they're as sick and tired as we are of settling for mediocrity at best year after friggin' year.
They can give the same tired speeches week after week about how they have to do this and they have to do that. It means nothing. I'm waiting to see what they ACTUALLY DO ON THE FIELD on Sunday. I don't even care about the playoffs right now, and neither should they. I just want to see a team on the field that is willing to do whatever it takes to win a game and not beat themselves with their own stupidity.
Shut up and show me. That's my motto once again for this week. I do believe they have the talent. I question their heart as a team. If anyone can help them find it, I guess it's Joe Gibbs. We'll see.

I know we can make the play-offs. What we did the last couple of weeks doesn't mean we have to go out there and do it again. Many stranger things have happened. We could turn it around any week and are not mathmatically eliminated from anything and until then I will not lose hope.

The way I see it is this.... we have 5 wins, we have a great chance of beating:
Cardinals - I respect them, but they are still the Cardinals
Rams - They'll probably be without Bulger, that has to help someway
Cowboys - We beat them in Dallas, now they are coming to town
Giants - Another game at home... Sorry, but I cant believe they are 36-0 better than us
Eagles - Last game of the season, probably meaningless to them and without Mcnabb/TO/Shepperd
Chargers - Not very likely, but at least we play them at Fedex
We can find a way to win 10 games, and that will very likely give us the division. I know that if we keep playing like we did last Sunday, we wont win anything, but if this teams plays like I know it can (and has proved ocassionally) we don't need a miracle. You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one :) and I'll keep hoping until the end.

I don't believe in miracles in the NFL. I believe in molding a team through hard work and patience and players playing together for a few years and building up team chemistry. I believe in character guys who leave everything on the field for the symbol on their helmet. I also believe we're on that path, but not just yet.

Lets see how we play Sunday. We got one of the best team in the league coming into our house and we need to give them a good beating. Should we lose, we'll have gone 0-5 against the AFC West.
I have no comment on miracles. I believe in the team and more importantly, Joe Gibbs, but we still need to improve a few areas before considering ourselves contenders.

I'm finally recovered enough from last week's atrocity to post.
I do believe in miracles but, I don't think we need a miracle. We've got the pieces to be a contender. Now all we need to do is have all the pieces play simultaneously at full efficiency with focus and passion.
We've put ourselves in this predicament. Now like a wounded animal with our backs against the wall we have only 2 options: come out fighting for our lives or rollover and die. This Sunday I'll be there giving it my all helping our team fight for our lives. I know everyone of you will be there with me [in spirit, if not physically]!

great thread-
NO I don't believe this team will make the playoffs, the offense right now is struggling big time and with apparently only 1 major threat at WR (Moss).
a QB who (without talking smacking about him) is not playing well at this junction either.
Our defense isn't stopping people when they should be (with a lead) and our all of a sudden defensive match-up problems (LB on WR's the last 2 weeks)
Also, this is a rough road the rest of the way with our schedule (the only game I'm giving us to win for sure is the Cards game) the others are up in the air as far as I'm concerned.
So in closing again I say no I don't.

It takes players and breaks to pull off a miracle. We do not have the players and the players we have keep giving up the ball on turnovers. Dallas and New York may both lose this week. They are dogs to Denver and Seattle.
The Skins have within their grasp the oppertunity to be one gameback and a chance to play NY and Dallas to pull even, but they will probably choke, turn over the ball, and play uninspired ball as they have been doing.
I am hopig they turn it around and finish strong like they did last season. Go Skins!!!

Listening to all the interviews of Gibbs and the players, my mind turns to the Red Socks of last year, when they were down by three games in the world series they just kept saying "We need to win the next game, period.". I believe our skins are in that same mindset, you win or its over. We have the talent and we have the team mentality. We have only been beaten once this year, by the Giants. The only game we were on the positive side of the turnover ratio, we won 52-17, over a 49ers team that beat a hard Tampa Bay team the very next week. I know three things, we can make the playoffs, I will take the Jake Plumer Tuck Rule Miracle to the grave with me, and if we sweep the Cowboys, I dont care what else happens.

The miracle would be the Skins getting a fair share of luck. They have a chance because they were unlucky to lose to KC, Denver, Oakland, and TB. With better/correct calls by the refs and some reasonable luck, they would have won all those games. The only game they weren't competitive in was the Giants game. They easily could be 9-1 (and why 5-5 is so discouraging). I recognize the team has problems and weaknesses, namely at WR, tight end, D line, kick returning, and punting. However, at this time of year most teams have multiple issues like these. What we need is better luck and some backups/replacements stepping up.

I agree with that assement, we have had very few lucky breaks this year. I think were about due for some turnovers or favorable calls from the zebras.
Miracles can happen, but this team must make me believe that they can happen (again).

Talking about needing to chill out... Check your blood pressure, man.
I'd like to believe in miracles, but where does it come from? I am afraid the injury decimation revealed a team that had some great strength at the starter position but little depth. Depth is one of the last things that is added to a contending team. Hence, 2006 should be a banner year. This is still a good, progressive year.

Nice try, but if anyone read all your rants on saying WE, they'd know why I posted what I did and why I said that to you. Don't try to make it look like you were being so nice about it either. So you PICKED my post to finally throw a positive spin on yourself. Been here long enough when a pick is being set. You are a joke!

My blood pressure is fine and my mind is clear. I have no beef with no one here, but YOU.

Yeah, like fans can relate to that pressure. "We..." - lol
Cut them slack; the 'we' folk have no idea what pressures the players face to perform. I know you identify yourself strongly with the Redskins, but show some respect. It ain't ever 'we'.
This is YOUR BLOOD PRESSURE on Redskins fans saying We as meaning fans and Skins together, yet your POLICING of the phrase is that we have NO right to equate ourselves with the players? HUH??? So why are YOU here?

They should make the playoffs because I think that the guys that have been here for a while and have been use to losing really want to win. I think LaVar and Jon really want to win. I think even Ramsey really wants to win.

So true and I think LaVar's last comments will be sinking in, each game more and more.

I'm just confused on the identity of this team. They flip flop everyweek, and fail to be consistant on anything. The only thing we are consistant in is turning the ball over. Miracles, we don't need some superficial reassurance and just pray something good will happen. If we just play ball, stop turning the ball over....then we can probaly roll against any team in the league. But until we stop beating ourselves, then we will be just another team int he middle of the pack.

I started this thread over a month ago. Before we started the winning streak. So i ask the question again “Do you believe in miracles? YES!”

Same here hogs86, with my "Win out, who's on board?" thread!
And your reason is exactly why we are still believing;)

I believe that anything and everything can happen. Hard work and determination by our Redskins can certainly help us pull off a miraculous 5 in a row on Sunday. PLEASE, PLEASE!!! No turnovers. Straight up we can win, but lets no beat ourselves.

I have believed since they were 5-6, and I will not stop.
BTW, what is up with all the "T- word" talk. We haven't lost the battle since we got on this roll. Against the Giants, it cost us 7 points, but when Marshall made the INT, it lead to 7 also. We have broken even in the last 2 games, and that what should be expected. Everything else is bonus.

I agree. We were at -13 in turnovers after the Oakland loss. We are currently at -4 for the year. That's +9 over the last 5 games. We seemed to have turned that stat around.

Good summary of the 2005 season
The Redskins have gone from good to bad to great. They started off the season with three straight wins. Then they went on to lose six of their next eight before finally putting it all together and winning their last four, all against NFC opponents. Now they are in the position that every player loves to hear -- win and you're in! Can you believe that? If they win their last game of the season against Philadelphia, then they're in the playoffs. The defense looks good. It gets after the quarterback and forces turnovers. Mark Brunell and Santana Moss are clicking, and Clinton Portis is running well. They do all the things you need to do to win games.

This is truely a great year to be a Skins fan. Even if we don't make it, can you be that dissappointed after having losing seasons for so long, and finally having a good team to cheer for. I hope this lasts for a very long time.
