Dave, you're just as good at making fun of righties as you are at making fun of lefties. Not sure if you're happy to read that, but just thought I'd point it out.

Oh god.
If anything points out the cronyism and inability to hire and recruit qualified cabinet and sub cabinet positions it is the case of Mike Brown. I know I am a partisan Democrat but I have friends that are Republicans. Capable friends. Friends whoi I may disagree with on policy but never question their innate intelligence and ability.
If Bush would have just appointed good qualified people to run his administration his presidency had the making of a succesful modern two-term presidency ala Bill Clinton, Reagan, Eisenhower. But the lack of ability and in some cases empathy is not only making it a joke, it is stalling any progress the GOP could have made. The 2006 elections are right around the corner and people are very very scared to run with the President.
Mike Brown is one of those reasons.

His business will boom. States will go to him for advice and know to do the opposite. Brilliant business plan.

Much like Matt Millen draft advice in the NFL.

Political considerations aside I really have to wonder how any human being can be so deluded as to publicly act in this manner. Let's listen to the man:
If I can help people focus on preparedness, how to be better prepared in their homes and better prepared in their businesses — because that goes straight to the bottom line — then I hope I can help the country in some way,” Brown told the Rocky Mountain News for its Thursday editions.
No irony is apparent to the man in charge of reacting to the worst natural disaster in our history. He could have helped the country a lot more just a few months ago (but of course without lining his pockets in fees).
Brown said officials need to “take inventory” of what’s going on in a disaster to be able to answer questions to avoid appearing unaware of how serious a situation is.
This would be exactly what he did NOT do as head of FEMA. How do the words leave his mouth?
“Hurricane Katrina showed how bad disasters can be, and there’s an incredible need for individuals and businesses to understand how important preparedness is,” he said.
I had forgotten about all those great disasters, those delightful ones, you know the cute, funny ones we all reminisce about around the campfire.
Brown said companies already have expressed interested in his consulting business, Michael D. Brown LLC. He plans to run it from the Boulder area, where he lived before joining the Bush administration in 2001.
I want to be on the board of directors of those companies when the proposal to hire this guy comes up. Really, the film of that discussion could make millions as an absurdist comedy.
“I’m doing a lot of good work with some great clients,” Brown said. “My wife, children and my grandchild still love me. My parents are still proud of me.”
Just how pathetic do you want to sound, anyway? What are you 12? Your parents are still proud? Oh yeah here is a CEO I want to follow into a crisis situation. You know the more this guy stays in the limelight, the worse it will be for the Bush administration and Republicans in general, so.....
Does anyone have his number? My shell corporation really has a need here!
