yes, i will admit that as a tar heel fan i probably shouldn't be starting this thread, but it just baffles my mind what's going on with Duke. this team looks like they're primed to see an early exit in the tourney this year. they're a 2 man team and it appears, at least early this season, that you can shut down one of their 2 studs and run with them. memphis took them to the limit and Drexel played them tight for crying out loud. At the moment, Indiana has the lead on them and Duke hasn't scored a field goal in over 4 minutes. this looks like yet another argument for doing away with preseason polls.

Give it time. They will fall. Duke is not as dominant as the pollsters think ad they probably realize that now. I'm not a big fan of preseason polls either. It's pure guessing.

Im not a big fan of college ball until March Madness so I dont know a whole lot about individual players but who is that guy on duke with a billboard for a forehead. Seriously that guy should rent out space on that thing to advertise for Ron Artests record label.

Duke is young and will mature during the season. Even last night you could see Paulus growing up some. Show me any team that can't be stopped by shutting down their two best players.

dook will run the table on a down year in the ACC. Not trying to bash by no means. Those are my true feelings. I thought they would be further along than they are. I'm surprised their freshman aren't playing better.

The best team so far this year has been UCONN. Even if they did have a hard time shaking ARMY. lol

Does anyone notice that duke always has at least one guy with an abnormal head? Battier, Williams, Capel, Coach K, the list goes on lol.

Duke certainly doesn't look as impressive as suggested in the preseason, and when is jj going to graduate? He seems like he has been there for a decade now.

All of this has been said completely without bias :)

dook will run the table on a down year in the ACC. Maybe but alot of teams are getting better in the ACC like FSU and Clemson. They certainly won't go undefeated but will probably win the Acc title (BOOOOO!!)

Duke isn't doing that great now but its still really early in the season. They are relying heavily on young players like Paulus and McRoberts. I'm not a big Duke fan but I do think they will be strong for the rest of the year. Those young guys are only going to get better.

Sure they will fall but they will be tough to beat this year when fully healty. With three returning seniors two of them starters and 2 of the nations top players.Nelson looked like he was going to have a good year until he got hurt. And five highly touted freshman. What isn't pre-season number one about that?

Duke hasn't looked quite as good as I thought as well, but as already stated it is very early and by midseason I will be surprised if they aren't very dominant. Just too much talent and experience with Redick/Williams. They really are playing those freshmen way more than I figured they would, but evidently Coach K feels they are the best ones for the job. They can enjoy this year and UNC shall dominate again come next season.

shut down both, of course, but a national championship caliber team has to be able to survive if you shut down one of them. this team doesn't look like it can survive against the big guys if they don't have redick AND williams both performing at their best.

Disagree Shaggy. dook has more elder players than they do youth. And its at the positions that are needed. Guard and PF/C. Plus they have a couple of guys back from last years team who may not have started, but got plenty of playing time last season.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think Duke will be rolling come midseason.

I can't remember the last time the heels dominated Duke, maybe you meant because the won the championship.I think the freshman will step up and Redick and The Landlord will take care of the rest.Losing Nelson hurts though.

Speaking of abnormal appearances. Coincidence that Coach K looks like Quagmire?? Coincidence? I think not!
