View Full Version : With a little help from our friends...

With the Redskins sitting at 7-6 and going into a playoff competition with Dallas, we still need some help to get into the playoffs. There are five teams competing for 2 spots, not including if we are able to catch the NY Giants for the division lead. Here is how I see it:

Chicago is sitting at 9-4 and leading the NFC North with a one game lead over Minnesota. They play Atlanta at home this Sunday, and for it to help, they need to lose the game. From there, they play at Green Bay (win), and at Minnesota(need to lose to help). If things go right, that would put them at 10-6 and out of the playoffs with a tie with us.

Carolina is at 9-4 with games at N.O., home versus Dallas, and at Atlanta. They should easily win against N.O., but they need to lose to Dallas, and win against Atlanta to help us. They will get into the playoffs with a 11-5 record, taking the 5th spot (wildcard).

Atlanta is playing Chicago in Chicago and they need to pull the upset, so Minnesota can take over the division lead. In the next two weeks after Chicago, they play TB and Carolina. If they lose both of those games, they will end the season at a 9-7 record and out of the playoffs.

Minnesota could be one of our biggest friends through out this if they can keep there streak going. They need to win out to take the division lead, and they play home for Pittsburg, at Baltimore, and home for Chicago. All are winnable games.

The wild card in this whole thing is the Giants. If we could catch up them, we would beat them in a tie because of division play. The Giants have 2 loses in the division, whereas we only have 1. They play home for KC (cross your fingers for this lose), us at our house( a lose for them), and at Oakland (should be a win for them unless a miracle happens)

What does everyone think about how this should round out?

The only thing that needs to happen. Giants lose to either KC or Oakland and we win out = we win division title.

Personally, I'd rather see Minnesota lose and Atlanta lose, that seems a bit easier than hoping Minnesota runs the table.

I agree. We win out, Atlanta loses & Minny loses, and we're in.

Or:

We win out, and the Giants lose one game, and we're in.

That's the simplest, most easy way for it to happen, and with the schedule that Atlanta and Minny have, it's very possible they lose AT LEAST one more game each. With the Giants having to play the playoff-desperate Chiefs, a loss this weekend is certainly not out of the question.

I love to hear that. Forget wildcards, lets just win the division. Whos with me?

If you want to look at it that way, the only friend we need is KC, but they weren't successful last week in being our friend. So, I don't know how dependable they will be. Remember, they are playing in NY, where the Giants are pretty good this season. I am crossing my fingers, but I am also looking outside the box on this.

I don't Minnesota is going to lose 2 out of 3 games. They have Baltimore, who is terrible, and Chicago at home. The Bears showed their weakness last game, and the Vikings have a descent defense.

So does that mean this is the official lose thread? :)

The official lose thread for our competition, lol. I want the Skins to go undefeated the rest of the way, and our competition to lose there spot. It will happen.

Either way, we need these teams to win:
Patriots (Bucs)
Chiefs (@Giants)
Saints (Panthers)
Steelers (@Minnesota)

and of course...
Redskins (Cowboys)

The Falcons-Bears game is a tricky one, but I think is more probable the Bears end up winning their division, so we should probably also root for them.

we need to beat dallas before we talk about this stuff. we are gonna need to excersize some demons(i never used that cliche before, did i use it right?) to win this game, cuz this looks like a real tough one

Isn't our job as fans to figure out ways for our beloved team to get into the playoffs to keep the hope? It is the job of the players to play, and our jobs to route for them and come up ways to make it.

I'm not even going to think about the scenarios that could happen because all of this is a waste of time if we lose to Dallas. Let's beat Dallas first, then worry about the Giants. Once we beat them and all we have is Philly left, I can start taking a peek @ some playoff scenarios.

I guess I am one of only a few that is interested in our chances of getting into the playoffs. I personally think it is one of most exciting things, and fun to talk about.

We'll all be watching the scores. Don't pretend like you won't! I see the Steelers taking care of the Vikings this weekend. So, what we want to see happen first is the Redskins win. A KC victory is a bonus, but I'm not pinning any hopes there. BUT, if KC does lose and if that doesn't bump the skins up another level nothing will. So if the first scenario plays out we move on to the Giants and then watch the Falcons. IMO there is absolutely no way they win out. They're playing all their games against teams fighting to get into or stay in the playoffs. I don't see it happening. Let's take care of our business as the 12th man and enjoy the out of town scores. Vikings AND Falcons could both lose on Sunday! We then hold our destiny completely ourselves.

BTW here's the schedule: Giants - Sat. 5pm, Vikings - Sun. 1pm, Falcons - Sun 8:30pm

I had all the teams that could help us in my sig last week and not a single one of them won their game. Being Dallass week, the only thing I care about is the Skins beating the snot out of the Cowsissies. A lot will be clearer after this week and I will definitely be interested in going through all the scenarios.

I also don't think Minnesota will beat Pittsburgh this week and I doubt they beat Chicago. And when did we ever have any friends?

Has anyone seen the latest injury reports? redskins only CB not listed with an injury of some kind is Ade Jimoh. Dallas only has one injury ON THEIR ENTIRE ROSTER and he is probable (some lame average player).

I highly doubt Minnesota can beat Pittsburg.

But there are some LB's in the IR if i'm not mistaken. Nguyen is one of them.

True...On a side note, LB Antonio Pierce is listed as doubtful against the Chiefs. That is HUGE, seeing as we need NY Giants to lose one more game in addition to a lose vs. WAS....
