As of right now (the falcons lost) we are in the playoffs.
still two games to go to keep that spot. GO Skins
isn't it great to be 2 games away from the end of the season and realize that everything is in OUR hands?

We hold the last spot right now, but we have to concentrate on the Giants. I would love to see another performance like tonight on Christmas Eve.

we need a great effort these last two weeks....especially since our KEY PULLING BLOCKER is gone. DAMN RANDY, worst possiable time, this is a huge hit to our running game that was turning the corner into a dominate run team!!

Me too. Hopefully our guys aren't too banged up this week and I pray that Ray Brown can step up for Randy Thomas...

As long as we continue to fight hard I think we'll be alright. The key is that I feel we're finally beginning to forge our identity on offense. We're a run team first and will pass the ball 2nd. Earlier in the year we were trying to find ourselves but I think we finally have it. HTTR!

Yup, and that's all we've wanted all year. We just wanted to be in control of our position in the playoffs through OUR play on the field. The Bears and the Steelers put us in that position, and now we need to just play Redskin football, and we'll be just fine.

I believe we can clinch the wildcard spot next weekend if
Skins beat Giants
Panthers beat Cowboys (In Carolina)
Bucs beat Falcons (in Tampa)
and
Baltimore beats Minnesota (In Baltimore)(a game that is on Christmas day)
I know its long odds but...wouldnt' that be a hell of a christmas present?

I'd try and verify this, but all I know is that if we can win our next two games, we've clinched the Wild Card. For once, we don't have to pay attention to the scenarios. Just handle our business and we'll be paying in Week 18.

what is there to verify? the Redskins are in 6th place now, if the Vikings, Cowboys and Falcons all lose next week and the Redskins win, it's over. We're in.

We simply must take care of business. If we win out we are in the Playoffs. that is all we should concentrate on. We have all the tie breakers we need, we simply need the wins. If the team is not confident now, it never will be.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe there is a possibility that we can clinch a playoff birth in week 16.
When the 'skins beat the Giants, we will need the following to happen:
the girls lose at Carolina
the falcons lose at Tampa
the vikings lose at Baltimore
If this happens, the Redskins would be one game up on all three of these wild card contenders with one game to go. We would have the tie breaker over all three based on conference record and the season sweep over the girls, so even if we were to lose at Philly in week 17 and one of those other teams won in week 17, we would still get in.

I don't begrudge you to enjoy the Skins any way you see fit...
I just don't agree. We didn't get back into the playoffs by saying "win out". We got back in by beating the Rams. Then beating AZ. Then beating dallass...
Well know we need everyone to keep the focus and bring even more energy into beating the stinking gnts.
Oh and the Iggles will be no pushover either. They haven't quit once this year and have publicly said they do not want to go 0-6 in the division.
Both game are going to be nightmares!

Tampa, NY, Carolina, Atl, Minnesota, Chicago... All these teams can be beat in their building. There is not a team out there that can't. It is all about playing great football at the right time.
That time is now.

I'll tell you guys one thing....we are not being taken seriously by many fans of other teams....if we make the playoffs, they don't consider us a threat. I have a Bears fan in one corner of my office and a Seahawks fan in the other...they are talking about what the NFC championship game will be like, Chicago vs. Seattle.

12-19-2005, 11:24 AM
Well they will never get a chance to see that. Its funny because they both lost to us and will again. The If you put the Seahawks and the bears together you might be able to get the redskins. Yesterday Our defense played to its potential and its just as good as the bears. we played the seahawks before their injury bug to WR's and we still beat them.
Lets just win next week at home against the gints. It will be a tough game, but when we win and if we clinch the spot. It will be nice giving Rogers, arrington, portis, salave'a and everyone else that much needed break before we head into the playoffs.

All I know is that minus a few mistakes (which we haven't had the last few weeks), this team could be contending with Seattle (who we beat by the way. And didn't we beat Chicago, too?!?!?) for home-field advantage. This is a VERY good team, and we seem to be coming together nicely right at the perfect time.
Man, I wouldn't want to be playing us any time soon!

The Panthers have cut Rod Gardner, would he be worth bringing back for a playoff run?
He already is pretty familiar with the offense and the team. And the Skins biggest remaning hole to me is WR. Jimmy Farris is a great special teamer but when I see him and Taylor "another Florida bust" Jacobs across from Santana, I cringe.
Gardner wasn't the greatest WR of all time, but he wasn't THAT bad. He'd be an upgrade over what we are sending out there now.
If Patten and Thrash weren't hurt, I wouldn't even think about it, but they are and a reunion may serve both sides well.

Its too early to think about the playoffs. We got to focus all of our attention on the tiny Giants, because those guys are playing pretty good right now. Now granted, they seem to only play well at home......this time in Fedex...we got to keep Tiki under wraps. We can not let this bumb run 200 yard all over us like last time, and we got to keep those two DEs away from Brunnel. The 12th man is going to have to be more energetic than this week agaisnt the Cowgirls. Come on Skins, redemption of the horrible performance in the meadowlands is in order, we can beat NY.
Oh yeah, I realy hate Dallass fans......but these freagin' giant fans are truly ignorant. I was Christmas shopping at the mall (wearing my beloved #26 Jersey), and a 12 year old Giant's fan had the nerve to say to me," we blew you guys out". I can't be ridiculed by an adolesense like that every again, it took all the restraint in the world to keep me from shoving this kid inside a trash can.
Come one Skins, lets shut down Tiki "gayboy" Barber and Eli "down-syndrome" Manning.

Do you mean if those 3 things happen, we're in regardless of if we lose to the Iggles?
I only ask because, as of RIGHT now, we ARE in the playoffs. If we win our last 2 games, regardless of what anyone else does, we have the #6 seed.

I think so. If the scenario happens, the record will be:
Redskins: 9-6
Cowboys: 8-7
Falcons: 8-7
Vikings: 8-7
We hold tiebreaker edges against all of those teams. Thus, if all of the teams finish 9-7, we get the wildcard.

Excellent breakdown, mate.
I just hate to rely on so many other teams. I'd just assume we win out, and let the chips fall where they may. Again, winning out means we are definitely in, and if some other teams can lose (like the Giants to the Raiders), then we can only move up in the seeding.
As of right now, we'd play the Giants in NY, and that's a tough game to win. If we won the division, we'd probably have the Bucs coming to Washington, and I like that matchup A WHOLE LOT better.

That is only if TB doesn't take over the South division. If TB becomes the leader, they would have a high seed then us, therefore, we would be going back down there. That would be a hard game to win for us, but they don't seem to be playing as well as they did against us or since going against us.

We are to overly optimist and approaching the giants the wrong way. Tiki is not the only player in the giants we got to worry about.
Offense:
Stop Osi & Straham is key.
There is possibly no way to stop them but from KC approach, they had one big ass guy go after Osi and double up on Straham which work.
Go after Delotch: (S)
Every big passing play is against him and is a big opening if we need to deep/mid pass if man on man. He just sucks...
Run to the left:
We can run big on their left side and could easily get us to the red zone. Fooly should be able to do his job there.
Look for the first down instead of the big play.
Score pass 27:
Pretty much the safe point
Defense:
Penalties:
Luke Pet. is playing in next week game after back spasm so we can easily get him to do false starts killing drives.
Containing Tiki:
Tiki is weak up the middle so whenever you except a run, it best to have the defense spread out. Ward will come up to the middle when Tiki is out.
Passing plays on first-second down
They will go to shockey
Passing play on third down
They will go to Plaxico if he is open and (if not) then toomer.Toomer seems to be used more at mid field and plaxico for a post pass at the end zone.
Field goals
Keep Feely pressure, he will definitely miss.
Eli go to guy.
When the blitz is to much, he will probably go pass to tiki on short~block routes or make a mircale pass to Shockey.
Defending short plays:
Eli rarely does the hail mary stuff anymore so defending the short routes to shockey and long cuts that tiki makes will be enough.
Pressure Eli
Special Teams:
Just gain yards. KC special teams got own.
whistleandthumb
12-20-2005, 05:29 PM
nmskin - that's a pretty good breakdown, mate. For me, it all comes down to this:
Make Eli win the game.
I just don't think he can do it yet, and his 50% completion percentage is evident of that. He'll make mistakes when pressured, which is our specialty. If we stop Tiki, and put the game on Eli's back, then I think we win. If Tiki runs for 150+ yards, it's going to be REAL tough to win.
