Armstrong fined for cheering on Redskins
DALLAS (AP) - Mavericks guard Darrell Armstrong was so happy his beloved Washington Redskins beat the Dallas Cowboys that he grabbed a microphone before Sunday night's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves and hollered, "How 'bout those Redskins!"
It's going to cost him $1,000.
Dallas coach Avery Johnson announced the fine during his postgame news conference and team owner Mark Cuban later verified it was legit, much to the chagrin of a disbelieving Armstrong. The money will all go to charity, with Johnson saying the Cowboys would decide the recipient.
The Redskins wrapped up a 35-7 victory over the Cowboys shortly before the Mavericks left the locker room to play the Timberwolves.
As part of the pregame ceremonies, guard Devin Harris wished the crowd a happy holiday. Then Armstrong, who wasn't scheduled to speak, asked for the microphone. He added his holiday wishes, then made his fine-inducing proclamation, a twist on a famous line by former Cowboys coach Jimmy Johnson.
A mixture of laughter and boos followed, even from German import Dirk Nowitzki. Cuban laughed, too, and joked with Armstrong about it when he returned to the bench.

Only thing that pissed me off about the Stewart being there is the fact he gets those tickets for free for being part of Gibbs Racing...

As lonmg as we win Gibbs could invite Pol pot Hitler and Stalin to be on the sideline....better yet on the opposing player's sideline.

I would wait until after he is traded in the off season, you can't insult your fan base in your hometown like that. Who does he think he is Randy Moss?

I wish the people of Dallas had a better sense of humor. I'm quite sure it was all in good fun and Cuban even laughed about after he did it. Probably some Cowboy official went crying to the Mavs and they went ahead and fined him.
Sounds a little like the 'Boys are sore losers.

Took me a minute but I just got this...Armstrong plays for the DALLAS Mavericks and before last nights game he did this. He is sooo my hero. This is about the greatest thing I've heard. Stupid fine, but I bet he pays it gladly!

Yeah but just think if a Washington Wizard player yelled how about the Cowboys at a home game after the Redskins got clobbered. We would rightly be calling for blood. I love that he did it but the fine is deserved. And I do think he will be gone somehow in the off season because of it.

What is the official reason for fining him?? I mean can they actually fine a guy for cheering on a Football team during an NBA pregame holiday wish speech??

he'll still be there...Avery Johnson loves the energy he brings on the court and he's made A LOT of big shots for the Mavs late in the season and in the playoffs.

Definatley see the point. I still think that because Cuban was laughing right along with him when he said it, that the fine came from somebody crying to the Mavs about it all. Nonetheless, it was still funny and if he needs help paying the fine, I'll chip in a 5 spot

It says Dallas is going to decide where the money goes. Maybe they can donate it to help send Michael Irvin's "brother/cousin" to rehab.

Not only should Dan Snyder pay the fine, but he should sent his jet to pick up Armstrong for the Giants game.
