A very gracious Thank You to LadyNRedskinsfan
for allowing me to use her sig for the topic of this post! :)
After the jubilation of the whooping put on the cowpukes dies down, we must take a long hard and serious look at the Saturday Game.
Up here in the Northeast the so called sports gurus are already talking about how there isn’t much left for the “Gints” to accomplish except get a second round bye and play their first playoff game at home. In other words, they are dissin the game against our Beloved Team. Somehow I feel that the members of this board have a little more insight to share. Make no mistake – this game is as important as the one that just finished!
Your thoughts on the importance of the game, game strategy, 12th man presence, or anything else that bears upon this critical game, if you want to share!

Damn right. The job is not done. WE MUST FINISH IT OFF.
12th man, we need you.

I think we can win the division, but I have my Week 17 reservations. We have to win out and the Gints have to lose two. Considering we go head to head next week, that could be 1 for us and 1 against them. My concern is that the Gints finish up with Jokeland on the road. While the Gints are not a very good road team and even if we win in Philly, if there is one thing that all Redskin fans know is that we cannot count on Norv for anything.
That said, if we win out, WE'RE IN BABY!

That seals it... I am going to check stubhub and ebay for a single ticket. Dangit I want to be there as the self appointed leader of the upper deck (specifically section 439).

Win the game against the Gnats, using the 12th man like yesterday. Stop the whole offense(Tiki Barber), and run the ball right over Pierce. I like the guy, but he is now a traitor. And one last thing, Make ST hit Burress so hard he can't get up.

Actually, we don't NEED to win two in a row. If Atlanta drops one to TB or CAR(possible) and Minnesota drops one to BAL or CHI(possible) and Dallas drops one to CAR or STL(possible), we only need one win to go.
But why leave it up to chance? Lets win the next two and take this bad boy to the playoffs. The only person who can the stop the Redskins are the Redskins themselves.

For Week 17, we should be Norv Turner fans. Playing playoff games in FedEx would be incredible.

I would love it better if we somehow pulled out the division title. Through it right into the faces of the sports world/cowboys/giants. We are the best in the division, and we should prove it by taking the title. That is what I want for christmas guys.

No doubt in my mind before the Dallass game that we could win 3 in a row, and now after that whooping of the Cowgirls, I'm that much more confident.I believe that 2 in a row is easily sermountable. The Giants killed us earlier, so we need to get our revenge on Saturday. The Philly game will be then a test to see if we can keep up the intensity playing against a non-playoff team.
Gameplan over the last two weeks...KEEP GIVING CP THE BALL!!!

But can the Skins clinch at least a WC with a win over the Giants and losses by Minnesota (at Bal), Dallas (at Carolina) and Atlanta (at TB)? I know that's a lot to happen, but is the math right?

Actually, I think Antonio Pierce is gone for the rest of the regular season. He won't be suiting up against us.

Yeah me too, Larry Johnson had 173 rushing on their defense......so the absence of Pierce was critical. I'm glad he won't be in the line up.

My question is how much do you think Pierce and Hasselbeck were a factor in the last game against the Giants? As in picking up signals and such from their time here in DC.

Mike Barrow was with Dallas and Gregg williams dispensed with his regular signals and used a numbered wristband to counteract the possibility of signals being read.
Look for the same next week.

I dont know, the commentators were saying that because the Cowgirls signed Mike Barrow....they were paranoid about reading our playcalls on defense. But they reiterated the fact GW had a wrist band with all the plays on it, and that they would give basic signals for the D to reference to. So i'm not sure how much of a role that played in our 36 to zap butt whooping. I know this much, its ain't going to happen again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is very good news for us, because we have a hell of a better defense than KC.

If the season ended right now, the Skins would be the #6 seed in the NFC and have the final wild card spot because Atlanta lost last night. The Skins have an 8-2 conference record, including wins over Chicago, Seattle (only two teams have done that,) and Dallas twice(:dalassuk: ) which puts them in a very good position to make the playoffs if they win out.
Basically, they need to win every game or if they lose, have an incredible stroke of luck.

So then wouldn't losses by Atl, Minnesota and dallas - who the Skins are currently tied with but beating on the breaker - coupled with a win over NY seal the deal?

We need to remember this game has some meaning for the Giants, it will determine if they are the #2, #3 or #4 seed, this game will determine their seed, the Giants are tied with Chicago [who plays Green Bay] and Carolina [who plays Dallas] and Tampa and Atlanta playing each other. Carolina has a 1 game lead and Chicago has the easiest of the opponents the last 2 weeks [Green Bay and Minnesota].
We need to remember that yes, it's gonna take some help for the Giants to finish tied with us. So the focus for Giants will be on their seeding and not necessarily to beat us, they are playing for an extra week off of rest.

If they mess around, they could be trying for the #6 -wildcard spot. A loss to us and Oakland, and we would be getting one of the top 4 spots.

Yeah they're trying not to mention him at all, from when I checked their team's website. Might have to look again, who know's maybe the Giants have him floating outside Redskins Park with a hidden camera.

Giants just signed Roman Phifer at LB. I think Pierce is done for the season.
Keys to the game:
Stop Tiki, make Eli beat us.
No Turnovers.
Run Portis Run.

yeah, the funny thing about that was when they were talking about it and said Mike Barrow wouldn't be of much help lying on his back when he was nursing a knee injury...a knee injury.. go figure
Edit: Mike Barrow is an NFC East Slut... his last stint will probably be with the Iggles sometime next year

I think Hasselback and Pierce played a huge role in giving up things about our team to their new teammates and the butt whooping we took that day points to them giving away some of our secrets and I think Pierce played a major role in this. With that being said I don`t see our coaches and players being fooled again by the same team and we will make the necessary adjustments. I too am happy it looks like Pierce will not be playing this week and I can`t wait to smack these Giants in the mouth on our homefield just like they slapped us around on their field.Hail to the Redskins!!!

Dont kid yourself with hasselbeck and peirce, we got beat plain and simple no death praising or anything we simply beat ourselves with drops and fumbles. I KNOW That we are a better team from back then and we CAN beat them with relative ease if we play like we did last sunday.
Also Anyone notice this? We blew away the 49ers the game before the gints and now they come up again after another blowout hopefully we dont get too cocky and practice like crazy to get an edge.

9-7 requires that Dallass, Atlanta and Minny all lose one of their next 2 games. I'd rather not be back in the boat (pardon the pun for Minny) where we have to be scoreboard watchers.
Besides, it shouldn't matter. This week we feast on Gint flesh.

I don't think they'll be cocky. Gibbs & Co. will basically remind them that the Gints "purdy mouthed" 'em last time these two teams played. I think there is a revenge factor and a sense of urgency. A lot of the players have mentioned that, to them, they have been in the playoffs for the last 3 weeks. That's the right attitude to have going into a big game, IMO.

For me, this is the biggest game I'll ever watch, and I'll be there. This game is far more important than the Dallas assault; there's the chance to play extra games on the line. I hope to be a part of a crowd that was so intimidating last week, and I'll bring my A-game.
On to strategy: First of all, throw out the first game. It means nothing. We will not be beaten like that again. On defense, our main focus is obviously Tiki Barber. The guy became a very good player now that he knows how to hold on to the ball. If he gets going, we won't have a chance. Stopping him to minimal gains on 1st down is absolutely necessary. Griffin comes in huge here, as he missed the first Giants game.
Since we're at home, we have to force the Giants into 3rd and long and make Eli throw the ball. His completion percentage is terrible, especially on the road. Everybody and they mama seems to be scared of Sean Taylor nowadays, and rightfully so. The guy swings a sledgehammer in the secondary. I suspect that he will have Shockey locked down, forcing Manning to test Shawn Springs on Burress. I'm confident about that matchup.
On offense, we have to hope Ray Brown brings the beer to the party. He's filling in for our main-man Randy Thomas, and he'll need to really get out there when he pulls. Our running game needs to be productive on first down, and we need to sustain long drives and keep Tiki Barber warming his ass on the bench.
The OLine play is the key to this whole game. Our book-ends, Jansen and Samuels, need to man up and protect Brunell against maybe the best DE tandem in the NFC this year. Do that, and we can light up this defense. IMO, the Giants don't have an answer for both Moss and Cooley, so one of them will be open plenty of times.
Let's go out there and whip them Giants.

dont know if I've done these calculations correctly, but if ALL the chips fell right, would we be able to earn a first round bye?
Here's what I have.....
Chicago loses this week to the Packers and drop to 10-5.
Redskins beat the Giants. Redskins goto 9-6, Giants 10-5.
Dallas beats the Panthers. Cowboys goto 9-6, Panthers 10-5
Atlanta beats the Bucs. Falcons goto 9-6, Bucs drop to 9-6
Vikings beat the Ravens. Vikings move to 9-6
-----------------Week 17------------
Redskins beat Eagles....move to 10-6
Saints beat TB....Bucs drop to 9-7
Vikings beat Bears.....Vikings 10-6, Bears 10-6 (Vikings would win Divison with 5-1 div record)
Giants lose to Oakland....drop to 10-6 (Redskins win div due to 5-1 div record)
Atlanta beat the Panthers.....Atlanta moves to 10-6, Carolina drops to 10-6. (Carolina would win the divison due to a better strength of victory)
Cowboys beat the Rams...Cowboys move to 10-6
------------------------
I believe, if I've done all my calculations correctly....it would leave these 6 teams heading into the playoffs.
1. Seattle 14-2 (record doesnt matter...using my scenario they are #1 no matter what)
2. Redskins 10-6 (Holds best conf record of 10-2)
3. Carolina 10-6
4. Vikings 10-6
5. Giants 10-6
6. Bears 10-6
7. Cowboys 10-6
8. Falcons 10-6
9. Bucs 9-7
Is that correct??????????
