View Full Version : Rogers may not play again

Redskins Director of Sports Medicine Bubba Tyer said the next step in getting Carlos Rogers ready to play is to reduce the swelling and bleeding from his torn left biceps. Rogers did not play Sunday against the Cowboys. Gibbs said a decision on Rogers for Saturday's game against New York would "likely come down to the wire." . . .
I think this is more serious than they thought. I would not surprised if Rogers is done for 05.

That is terrible news for us. Now we have lost Thomas and Rogers for the season. Dammit man.

I did not say he is lost for the season, just my gut. Don't quote me on that because he is not on injured reserve.

I'm not taking it as fact. But from the sound of it, how can someone come back from that? He can't lift one arm.

And unfortunately it happened when Carlos was playing Special Teams in the game at Arizona. He injured it and went back and still played in the game because Springs was already out of the game at that point.
I hope we can get him back healthy, we need to get some more depth next year, but I guess if we asked GW, we have it in the form of our safeties.

Wow- I saw "might not play again" and thought it meant ever. This is bad, but I guess coming into it thinking that it could be a lot worse. Get better, Carlos.

Put a band aid on it and lay some wood brother! Now is the time! We've built the momentum. Don't stop now!
We've laid the foundation. Just get the house built and then you can rest in it all off season.

Where is the thread talking about trading Carlos? (I keed I keeed)
Seriously...I fear the Domino effect. Walt is a weak starting Corner, Jimoh can't be a nickle, Pierson did good at nickle against Dallas but Eli Manning and the Giants receivers are better IMO then Bledsoe and the gurls.
I hope Carlos gets better real soon.

That sucks that players like him have to play special teams. Carlos Loss is big but Walt Harris is really playing well so i'm not worried. We don't have to start an unexperience rookie.

He did have an injury in training camp and also earlier this season. I don't think he is exactly injury prone...not yet anyways.

I'm not that worried. The whole defensive backfield looks great when Corny is playing and destroying the pocket. Harris is a decent CB, but he's not Shawn Springs good where he can hang with a top reciever even without a passrush. I just hope this doesnt become a consistent trend for Rogers. It's tough to become a better CB when you can't make it on the field.

You kill me with your alarmist posts. One week you said that Springs was definately out yet he played that week and I pointed out to you then that Gibbs said he would make a decision by the end of the week.
Same thing here, they are making a decision by the end of the week.

Torn bicep could possible be a problem for awhile but I want to make sure it's healed properly before putting him back in there and risking anything. An injury like that is real tender and sensitive and I don't wanna see the kid break his arm or anything. I certainly wouldn't label him "injury prone" yet. This could happen to any nfl player on special teams.

I don't know about injury prone... I mean, the poor kid IS in his rookie season. I just hope he takes this time off to completely heal and get healthy for next season. If we make the playoffs, and he can come back and play then, that's great, but I'd hate to see him risk further damage to his body by trying to come back too soon.
Right now, our corners are playing great football, so there's no rush to get him back in there.

It's not torn, if it was torn he'd been put on the IR after the Cards game, everyone calm down

Carlos has already played much more than Antrell Rolle this year.

Even if it is torn it is his bicep, not his legs. He can still run, but it will affect his pass defense and one arm tackling in the nfl isn't really a good idea. I doubt they will inactivate him because if anythin it should be fixed by playoffs and we have some room to work with the roster now that thrash is getting healthy, plus we already activated a practice squad player to help at cb.

If he is an injury prone corner, that means that we need to use another draft pick on a corner.

Rogers got a torn bicep by being a physical corner. Also, it's a little early to be calling him injury prone.

It is torn, there is no ligament damage but the bicep does have a tear. They are trying to get the swelling and bleeding to go down to see if he has a chance to play again this season. I think Saturday looks doubtful but they are not ruling him out for that game or any other just yet. But he does have a tear. This is all what I heard from Bram Weinstein immediately after the Cowboys game.

Rule him out of the giants game definitly, I wouldnt want him playing even if hes 75%. Hes not injury prone if he gets an arm injury. I dont think that his injury is too severe and that he will possible return for week 17 wherever we may be. The eagles game may be tough, but we dont need extra cbs for ryan moats.

And now some know why I say he reminds me of a mad scientist in the lab.
Only HE knows what's in that bottle (of course he's not going to tell you that). Wouldn't be prudent, would it. :)

Not really. Injured coming out of college, minor injury in the middle of the year iirc, and now this.

Injury prone is one of the most overused buzzwords in the NFL. Honestly, football is a freakishly violent sport. Injuries happen and yes some guys are more durable than others, but one year a guy is injury prone and the next two years he's a workhorse (I'm thinking of Shawn Springs as one example).
I think injury prone is much less of a condition than it is made out to be. An even if Rogers is injury prone, it will take more than one year to decide.

Thank you Whit. If Carlos misses time over the next 3 seasons, then he can be called injury-prone, like say: Taylor Jacobs, Ladell Betts.
BTW, the CB that Carlos replaced, good 'ol Smooty, got injured last year, the year before and has missed considerable time this year for the Viqueens.
