That is SOOOO true. The 12th man matters big time in these types of games. I mean, if all things were equal against an opponent -- saying that a team would win 5 games in 10 against an opponent -- a rabid 12th man can EASILY make that number 7 in 10 or better.

Awesome! I look forward to hearing superskin represent on 980 and good for them to realize his significance in the birth of the FED into stadium greatness.
Speaking of skins fans on the radio, I ripped Kevin Wall a new one today on 630 WMAL for saying the "Redskins suck" about a month ago. I called him a cowgirl and told him that he was wrong to talk about Joe Gibbs' Redskins like that and that he needs to realize this is Redskins country!

No doubt, Whit. I am actually surprised that Bram Weinstein circumvented the impermeable influence that Tony Kornheiser has over Sportstalk 980 to invite me on the show. Unlike all of us here at HR, many Redskin ticket holders need a gentle "reminder" that last week's spectacle - as brilliant as it was - was NOT the crescendo of this season. That, on the contrary, will take place on Saturday, as the gift of a playoff berth could very well fill our stocking by the following night. As with every opportunity I have to address the 12th Man, I will:
a) Raise the bar for the big game
b) Plug HR, and
c) Take a shot at Kornheiser for his anti-fanatic views. It's the Holiday Season though, so I may cut him some slack. Plus, he DID "predict" a five game run to catapult us into the playoffs.
It should be fun.

I'd prefer you save any media venom for the likes of Peter King for his annual campaigns against Art Monk and for Sally Jenkins for her nonsensical ramblings and bogus stats to support said ramblings.

I second that. I can't wait to hear what King says about Rod Smith and the Hall. His big argument against Monk was he only went to 2 pro bowls. Same for Smith.

Please remind Tony of something for us:
The players feed off of the fans. Generations of players have said as much. Additionally, it is WELL known that loud, properly mobilized fans can and do affect the outcome of opponent's offensive series, which in turn can and do affect the outcome of games. You only need the multitide of false start penalties directly attributable to crowd noise in the Chicago and Dallass games this year to show you that the 12th man does make a difference. So we REALLY need them to show up big time this week against the Gints.
Thanks, Supe. From all of us.

SS - this is FANTASTIC news!! I know you're going to get to work early this week bringing the message that this Saturday's game IS OUR SEASON! Not to mention, it's our last home game, which means it's the last chance this year to come make noise and show appreciation for our team.
Lookin' forward to seeing you on Saturday, Supe.

Last home game? Not so fast, Whistle. Winning the division is still quite plausible, which would automatically bring a wild card game back to Fortress FedEx. Let's not lay the tarp over the grass just yet.
Lady - I am honored that you added that to your signature. Thanks, babe!

You're EXACTLY right, SS, and the division title IS within our reach, if Norval will just help us out a little.
BUT - we need to show up like it's the last home game. We need to show up like this game is our Super Bowl, because not only do we need to win to control our own fate, BUT WE NEED REVENGE!!!

Yeah I was going to mention that. He has pulled the bandwagon out of the garage a little bit here and bucked the media trend. He's backing the 'skins all out for our playoff push.
Congrats on the upcoming airtime. Make sure we get an mp3 clip of that event. We'll want everyone to a chance to hear.
And lastly, I think the nice thing about this week being an even bigger game, is that the ultimate insult for Dallas is not to linger on the gloating. Ultimately it will be best when we expect to beat them every week and our focus is on higher more lofty goals. While I'm content to finish this season with our high point being a Dallas sweep, it would be even sweeter if that were simply a footnote!

boy he got a TON of air time. Bram gave him a hard time about the dream thing and suit magically appearing, but SS stuck to the point throughout in a very sincere way... The fans do make a difference. They are a part of the team. And we're establishing an identity at FedEx. Classy, professional job. Very well spoken. Outstanding mate!

Here's a synopsis. Some things may be out of order or incomplete:
SS started out explaining how JKC came to him in a dream and them he awoke to find the super suit at the foot of his bed. Bram gave him a bit of crap, but SS stayed strong.
He mentioned the Funky 4 by name and gave them their props as being great people and super Redskin fans.
He took TK to task a couple of times about the value of the fans and the 12th man. He mentioned that TK loves to remind callers that they don't suit up, but it takes 45 minutes for him to suit up. Also, any fans that wear a team hat or a team jersey when they go to fedex are suiting up.
He mentioned that fans make a difference and that Gibbs has said as much. He also mentioned that Gibbs' first press conference that he refererred to the fans as part of the team.
Crowd noise and energy can affect 3 or 4 plays that in turn can affect the game. He specifically mentioned the Chicago game and pointed out that the 12th man was back.
He plugged hR as a site that the real fans use as a resource to discuss the Redskins and plan 12th man activities.
He made a plea for the 12th man to be in their seats early and to make things as difficult as possible on the Gints by being LOUD.
There is no Mrs. SS.
He mentioned that Chief Zee is a great person and a hero of his.
The dance with the Funky 4 at 35-0 was telling Dallass and their fans that "You don't win here anymore."
Homefield advantage is not about the grass or the gatorade. It's about the fans, the 12th man.
At the end, Bram agreed with SS about the value of the 12th man and the value of homefield advantage, specifically citing that he saw what the Redskin fans did for the team in Arizona [de facto props to the fans that made that trip].
SS did his Bram impression. The French judge sandbagged him with a 5.8, but all in all it wasn't bad.

Thanks alot everybody. I thought it went well too. It is so empowering when an opportunity comes along to speak to a mass audience of Redskin fans, many of whom will be filling the stadium on Saturday. My hope is that those who listened (and arent as "involved" as all of us here at HR) came away with a "directive" to heed - to make noise and contribute to a frenzied atmosphere this weekend.
By the way, I really like Bram. Its obvious that he is a true advocate of the 12th Man theory, unlike most of his colleagues. Kudos to him.
