Fox5 talked to Champ about not having a new deal, and the level of frustration on his face and in his words was disheartening. I know that I wanted the the team to take a wait and see approach, but after that interview I sure hope that the Big Daddy fiasco is somehow tied into freeing money to get him signed now. I wouldn't want his performance this year to be a reflection of him not being happy.

I wish I could of seen that interview, has to make you worry with the season starting soon. I hope your right rskinsfan10, let's free up some over paid big-daddy money and lock-in our best player for another 6 seasons or so. I don't know if would hurt this season making him wait, but I think we all know signing him to a worthy contract would definetly make him a happier player.

Champ is the best player on the team. Shutdown cornerbacks are worth twice their weight in gold. If we let him get away we'll regret it for the next ten years. Watching him go to Hawaii in a different uniform every February will give me another reason not to watch the Pro Bowl.

I agree guys. I couldn't stomach seeing him in another jersey than a Redskins.

Would it be worth cutting BD to save Champ?

Yea I think it would, would suck for this season on Defensive line but yup if we cut BD to sign Champ there is no question that is worth it

I'd say it's worth it. I'm not sure the FO would see it that way, though. Champ's still got one more year, so I don't think they'd want to throw away our best defensive lineman to free up space for Champ this year, when they can just do it once the season's over and retain Big Daddy for that time.

no doubt, I can live with cutting BD so I won't look as foolish wearing my Redskin Champ jersey.

I think we can relax here. Since when is Snyder not prepared to pay big money for great players? He'll get anything he wants, he just has to be patient.

He might have had that look because he is tired of being asked that over and over. I feel sorry for these players sometimes.
These reports ask them the same dam question until the player is just sick of it but has no choice but to answer.
The ex-Jets players are gonna feel the same way the closer we get to opening day.

Could anyone imagine Champ in, say a BENGALS uniform? Or worse, a divisional foes uniform (like the Eagles)??? They seem to have taken a liking to OUR players as of yet.

Lord save us if Wilkenson is our best lineman. He's been eating off the potential plate for years too long.

Quite. Wilkinson is a fat pantload who stole from the team and embarrassed himself last year. He's had some decent seasons in the burgundy and gold, but 2002 was atrocious.

Maybe I'm dimwitted but whenever I read or hear a well used "pantload" reference, I crack up! Thanks for that one.

Good point TexSkin!
I saw him answering a question last night about missing DG, he seemed happy, he wondered if DG would make an appearance at Training camp.

I'm reading alot in here assuming that the Big Daddy situation is related to freeing up money for Champ. Maybe so, but I think it will take more than the $3.5M extra cap this year to do it right. I'm thinking that the FO would be wise to handle Lavar's contract retooling at the same time and use the 'this will help keep Champ' logic that may allow for both of our greats to be on the squad for a long time. Why not use the ploy with both guys of keeping the other under contract for the next 5 or so years.
