For those of you who haven't heard, a few hours ago, Comcast Sports reported that CB Carlos Rogers is fine and will play against Tampa. They interviewed him and he said that not only does he feel fine, but he could have actually played in the recent Philly game. The coaches decided to rest him an extra week for precautionary measures. Just thought that I would update those of you who had not heard the good news.:)

This is great news, now he needs to prepare for Galloway.

None of our Cbs have the speed to cover Galloway one on one. I would stack Harris and Taylor on him and focus Rogers on their other wideout. And blitz Simms so he can't throw it deep comfortably(look at what the Pats did) or has to dump it off.

Never thought I would care, but any word on Jimoh?

This is big. While it's not everything, it is still VERY big. We would've been going into the game with only Walt Harris and Ade Jimoh (our 3rd and 4th corners) without Carlos. While I like to think positively, that particular combination did not give me confidence.

Mr. Galloway? Meet two guys who you missed last time around: Mr. Taylor and Mr. Rogers. :)

he is the fastest guy on the Bucs team according to this link to all teams' player's 40 times.

i'm glad Rogers is playing, but i'm sure they'll still try to work on him because he is still a rookie, and Harris might be the weakest link out there. This will be a big game for Taylor and Clark.

This is great news. If we can have a healthy Rogers and Harris, we shoudl be fine. I would have Prioleau play the nickel. Jimoh is the type of guy that you take for granted. He has made mistakes when he was a younger player, but zI think over the last two years has taken tremendous strides in becoming a complete CB. I hope he will be signed off for Tampa.

Is this sarcasm? Galloway is the only receiving threat on the Bucs, he beats his opponent's top man every week. And he has nearly 1300 yards and 10 TDs. He has been dominant this year and still runs a 4.2 forty.

Getting Carlos back is huge for this game.

If Brunell has a better game I see us beating the snot out of Tampon IntheEars

Oh I agree, but we need to blitz someone on the same side as Galloway, forcing Simms to look the other way, but leave somebody like Prioleau back in coverage to help out on the same side as Galloway.

Absolutely agree. This is great news we'll get to do that! I feel much better already. It might be too much to ask for Springs back too, but I'm asking anyway. Here's something I can't believe I'm saying. I wish Jimoh were No. 3 and healthy and Harris on the bench throughout. I have no confidence left in him.

Rogers returning will somewhat offset the potential loss of Springs. But we'll have 2 other big contributors playing in this game that didn't play the first TB game. Griffin and Taylor will make up for a lot of the mistakes the defense made in allowing 36 points to a team that has no business of scoring that much against us.

Keeping Carlos Rogers out an extra week is a Veteran move by a Veteran Coaching Staff. We could manage without him in the game in philly and now he is refreshed and strong against TB in good weather. The fact that we lost some CB's this week makes the move even better. I'm definitely glad that we have a strong Rogers back.

There is alot of talk in this thread about how Galloway is their only threat and Hilliard doesnt scare anyone, etc...but there is one name that no one seems to be mentioning - EDELL SHEPPARD. Other than the referees, he was the biggest factor in us losing down there earlier this year, and with Clayton out, he may be due for more playing time. Yeah, I think his two TD performance against us was a fluke too, but we better have his name down in our game plan, assuming he is even playing.

Yeah hopefully we will cover Sheppard this time around, but he has done nothing all year except for his game against us, where he had one TD and 87 yards on 3 catches.

His other 15 games this season combined he only has 3 receptions and 16 yards. We need to cover him if he's out there on Sunday, but if this dude burns us again I'll pull my hair out.

I'm a bit suprised Rogers didn't play this past week if he was healthy. It takes a game or two to get game legs going so I wish he had had a chance to work off the rust. I hope it doesn't cost the Skins early Saturday.

I agree about the game legs. Remember his first pre-season game against Cincy? Hopefully he's been able to work on his conditioning while he's been out. But I do think it's fantastic news that he'll be back!!!

I think we tried a few packages where ST was to do this to a key WR and they simply mismatched the TE on a corner. With Rogers back and still possibly getting a FULL house back for the entire secondary, with Morton getting some playing time, they can be my guest :)

Sprinkle in Grif and LaVar and gets even better. Arrington has good games against these guys. I think he elevates on these guys for some reason. Maybe because they have always been known to D up.

He better show up this game because his stock is dropping quick, after 2 tackles in the most important game of the season. He needs to make an impact if he really wants to stay a Skin.

I have been a big Lavar fan, but he does not appear to be the same. He disappeared in the Eagles game. The LA I knew never did that - he was always highly visible and made an impact. He does not appear to have the same fire/intensity, speed, etc. I don't know if he is still hampered by injuries or what (though he is still better than Holdman).

I love everything in burgundy and gold, and this year is the beginning of something special in DC . About this thread, I think Rogers will become one of the best CB's in the league, he has all the tools, he is a stud against the run, my concerns is if would be able to stay healthy. Hail redskins!!

I totally agree! I only mentioned Griffin b/c on almost every play you see two and sometimes three guys go after # 96. I love it!

The biggest key to this game is Samuels get a lockdown on Rice (IMHO). We need to shut that dude out b/c he can kill teams when he is on.

I think Griff's return is key. During that the stretch where he was out GW turned the defense from blitz happy to cover 2. The Tampa game was the only one in which GW decided to let the dogs loose, obviously because Simms was still green, however, despite the mediocrity of the Tampa Oline, the blitzes were picked up easily. It was the key to the game, no Skin could get anywhere near Simms. With Griff back and putting pressure on the pocket from the interior the blitz packages will work this time.
