...when the 'Skins were 5-5 (let alone 5-6!) I would have bet my house that there was no way, zero, they were going to make the playoffs. I was frustrated for about the sixth year running that our team sucked with no indicaiton of turning things around.

I hated Brunell, thought Portis was classy but tremendously overpaid and could not carry the team, and was pretty sure Gibbs had lost it.

Now, I still think Brunell sucks but have to admit he's getting it done, Portis is still overpaid but IS capable of carrying us, and Gibbs DOES know what he's doing.

Most importantly, it is great to not be pissed off at my favorite team, which I have been for years. It feels great to be really excited again and truly feel our team has a chance. Win or lose tomorrow, I FINALLY feel like the 'SKins are back and likely to be back for a while.

ALL HAIL JOE GIBBS; our saviour back in the early '80s and today.

It is good that you can admit when you are wrong.

I never once lost faith in Gibbs.

It takes to guts to come out and admit this stuff.
The truth shall set you free.
I just hope that you don't acquire too many bumps and bruises[insults and jeering] along the way.

Well, that is the price you pay. If you don't post about the Skins for a full month until after they are locked in the playoffs, then you deserve some bumps and bruises.

Just wondering what makes you think he sucks?

Me neither. I have to admit I thought the players were starting to quit when we were 5-6 and then they too turned it around. We got a specail team here and there is room on the Bandwagon for everyone. Even if you were on and got off. The only problem then is I moved up and took your window seat....now you have to sit in the back of the bus.

See, that is the thing for me. I don't feel the players ever quit. All last year I thought they were fighting their tails off trying to find their way. The Oakland game was atrocious, but the Charger game was well played by the burgundy and gold until the end. And arguably the best football player in the league beat us so I didn't get upset really... Not like I did when the Giants beat us, but that was obviously an abberation.

This is a good football team, and I am very proud of them for their effort.... Even more so than the results.

Great post and yes I think most of us felt we weren't going to the playoffs especially after the loss to SD. We should have kept faith in Gibbs. He is a miracle worker and amazing head coach.

Welcome back to the bandwagon.

Maybe next time you won't doubt as much...

For the record, I was never off "the bandwagon", always have been an ardant fan, rootin' on the team all the way back to before that first blessed season when Lombardi was our coach. You can be a diehard fan and point out faults, you know, and we've had plenty.

But now I'm back in the sunshine of the land of lollipops, chocolate, and underwear models.

That three-game stretch was tough, and it tested all of us.

For me, I never lost faith in Gibbs, either, but I did question the team's heart, especially after that Oakland game, which was just like something out of OUR Norv Turner era. Boy, did it hurt to hear everything hurled Gibbs' way and the Redskins' way during that time.

But, the week before that Dallass game at FedEx, something changed. I just had "a feeling" for no real reason. I mean, we'd beaten the Rams and Cardinals rather unconvincingly, so there was no reason to think we'd slaughter a pretty good Cowboy team. But I just could sense a change in the air, and I decided to commit myself once again to the Gibbs Army, as my bold prediction-post stated days before the cowgirl game (we need a "toot my own horn" emoticon).

I decided it was "all or nothing." I was going to commit everything I had as a fan to that game and let the cards fall where they may. Redskins, do or die, baby! I felt a great thumping in the force. And of course, just as I had foreseen, a great thumping we delivered to those cowpies.

And it all started way back in training camp when I delivered a DVD of the 1982 NFC Championship game to one Chris Cooley and told him to watch it to see what the team means to its fans and to understand what Redskin tradition is all about.

Every day, I wait for Gibbs' call of thanks.

It never comes.

But that's okay.

Have to admit, it has taken me a bit a time to lose my pessimistic ways after the last 10 years of furstration. But, I'm very impressed with what we accomplished and even in my most pessimistic moments always left the door open for some "well maybe if's" in my mind.

Bring 'em on!!

It's Ok, Duke. You're just a guy who gets things wrong publically and then has to humiliate himself. No problemo.

Well I for one am thanking you WWD! Cooley stepped it up BIG TIME in the second Dallass game. I think he got the message loud and clear. ;)

Portis is overpaid compared to who? If Brunell sucks, how bad is Ramsey if he can't overtake him?

For admitting you were wrong, you're not eating your crow very well...need some salt?
