The Redskins finally did what Champ Bailey has been waiting for. They called his agent. Owner Dan Snyder talked to Bailey's agent, Jack Reale, on Tuesday night.
Talks have not yet started, but it's more contact than the two sides have had. They agreed that they would meet when Reale comes to training camp in August, though no date has been set.
The Redskins have always said they'd re-sign Bailey, who is getting antsy for that to happen. But Washington had to resolve the situation with defensive tackle Dan Wilkinson first.
''I appreciated the call,'' Reale said. ''Dan indicated thata Champ was an important part of the team and they'd like to keep him here. We'll start our discussions and go from there.''

He and Lavar should never play anywhere else, plain and simple.

Yeah, I agree, but it seems as though todays athelets are not as "loyal" as the atheletes were 20 years ago.......of course, the sports landscape has significantly changed since then. It has been refreshing to know that Darryl Green never held the Skins hostage and asked for a boatload of money. He doesn't seem to be motivated by $$$$ like todays atheletes (and agents). I just hope that Champ wants "fair market value".......and I hope that we pay it!!!

I think that was a obvious report. I am sure the contact was amde right after the release of Big daddy. I saw that last night in a news report that Reale was contacted.

I'm definitely 'iffy' on Ohalete being on this list. :wacky: I wasn't as high as some were on his play last year. I think it was more a case of Shade and Terrell taking three steps back than 'Iffy' taking steps forward.

Right now, since I'm hungry, they kinda look like marshmellows dancing their way toward some chocolate bars and graham crackers...

I'm with Hailyeah on Iffy being on the list. I'm not even sure he can be a quality player let alone a lifelong Skin. Anyway it's good to hear that the FO is ready to deal with Champ. I just don't think it's going to be a quick or smooth negotiation.

I like Iffy because he's a USC Trojan and I saw him, Chad Morton and Sultan McCullough live several times at the LA Coliseum.

lakeannecrew, what do you think about sultan making the team or practice squad? I love his speed and arm strength.

I think Ohalete will prove himself this season. I really like him and let's not forget about Andre Lott either. He can bring the hits too.

I would love to see Lott line up with Bowen, of course I am a Vols fan too, but that has nothing to do with it :D

Sultan backed up Chad Morton in 1999 as a redshirt freshman. He gained a 1,000+ yards the following season but then in 2001 he suffered a leg injury. I forgot what happened. He was not at full-strength last year. But if I remember correctly, he was a Pac-10 100 meters champion (he used to run in the low 10s like 10.20) and one of the fastest players in Trojan football history.
I don't know if he's still has the speed before the injury, but I remember him breaking plenty of long runs just on power sweeps or quick tosses.
As for his arm strength, I have no idea. :P
Anyway, I hope he makes the PS.
I would be happy to see Bowen start with either Lott or Iffy... but probably not Terrell.
