He was gone for six. Being 10-0 up at that point would have put a completely different complexion on the game. Hasselback was in a real shaky period at that point and it could have broken him at that point.
He is very much a confidence QB.
Oh well. Shoulda, Woulda, Coulda.

You're telling me, man. I've been thinking about that all day long... :(
Oh well, Carlos will still be a great player for us and he'll have plenty of chances to capitalize on plays like that for years. It would have been great if he could have made the pick, but it wasn't meant to be. We'll get our shot though real soon, I know that.

I agree bu what if Hall makes that FG and Moss makes that final catch in the end zone.. all what ifs.... but on the other side how bad do we get beat if Alexander plays the whole game? always what ifs and hindsight is always 20/20 but this team made t farther than I honestly bet most of us here would have thought this summer. So What if we win it all next year? thats the only what if that matters

Your right the whole game is What ifs. I pick that play because the timing was crucial, the one point when we had Seattle truly on the rack. Hasselback drove Seattle down the field and scored on that same drive.

A lot of things could have gone our way. What if Edell Shepherd made the catch last week and stole momentum and won in overtime? Lots of things could have happened. Yes the pick would have been huge, but I'm not going to dwell on it. We still had the lead and still had many other chances to add to it.

I think the bottom line is that we could not have asked for a better effort all around by our D in the playoffs..they were our whole team for 7 quarters..they created turnovers, 3 and outs, they scored..they were awesome and have absolutely nothing to regret..

It would have been a game changing play that is for sure.Rogers made a game saving play last week so I cant complain, he had a torn ticep muscles a few weeks ago so he has the heart of a warrior and am proud of what he accomplished this year.I Look for even bigger and better things from him next season.:Peace:

Rogers certainly looks like he was worth the #9 pick.

i was talking with my friends how that was the turning point in the game. It wasn't as easy as it looked though. The reciever got a hand in there too.

After that play, I knew our fate was sealed. We missed out on several opportunities and it just wasn't our day.

You're telling me, man. I've been thinking about that all day long... :(I've been thinking about since the play occured. I had a bad feeling about the outcome of the game (along with Gibbs not challenging the spot of the ball on one of Jackson's catches that would have been a 4th and 1) as soon as it happened.

I have the feeling that those missed opportunities will haunt the players [themselves] this offseason.
Hopefully,it makes them workout and prepare better this winter/spring.
I want the team to be bigger, faster stronger, healthier, and more prepared in their execution next season.
A lot of guys didn't step up,or couldn't stay healthy, when their opportunities came.

I personally think the major turning point in that game was the missed field goal. The team seemed flat after that point. I know I was feeling drained, and down after it happened.

i sort of concur but i have a different take. The turning point wasn't that we missed the field goal it was that we had to go for a field goal at all. We were given a turnover in good field position after we had gained momentum. This happened in a must score scenario and we couldn't put it in the end zone. We shouldn't have had to even settle for a field goal.

yeah yeah yeah... i know he missed it. but i'm glad he did. it's things like that that make players elevate themselves to the next level so when it comes around again on a BIGGER STAGE... they make that same play with ease.
let's hope carlos gets another shot next year

During the offseason, all of our CBs need to do some catching exercises. When our MLB leads the team in picks, there is a problem. We have had opportunities all year with the picks, and they have been dropped. This needs to be addressed

There's no reason to put so much significance on that one play. Yeah, it was a tough break, but it was NOT an easy catch, as the receiver's hand was in there, too, as someone else said.
Plus, even after that, we had so many chances to win that game. There were tons of opportunities that we didn't take advantage of. You knock their big running back out of the game, you win the turnover battle 3-0, etc., etc., you should probably win the game.
We just ran out of gas on offense yesterday. Too many injuries, nothing left in the tank. We really need to have one major goal next year:
Homefield Advantage and a week off.

That pick was tougher than it looked. the receiver did get an arm in there as some have pointed out. Carlos looks like he's going to be real good so i don't hold it against him.
Would have been nice though!

let's hope carlos gets another shot next yearYou're glad that he missed it? That makes very little sense. How about going with the logic that if he does make that pick, then the next time he's in that position he has even more confidence in making that play? You're talking about potentially the difference in us typing the things that we are tyoing today in comparison to many of us making travel plans for either Chicago or Charlotte. I'd much rather be concerned with making those travel plans then hoping that Rogers makes that play next time.

I love Rogers but if he would have Int that pass.He would have taken that pass to the house we would be playing in the NFC championship next weekend .

Does anyone question the decision to go for a field goal at that point? I do. The Skins were on the 18 yard line with not much time left (time for maybe 1 more possession). 4th and I believe about 4 to go. They had momentum. A field goal would still leave us 4 points down, i.e., requiring a touchdown to win, as opposed to being tied. I would have gone for it (I know I'm not Gibbs, but that is my opinion, and as Gibbs will be the first to say, he is not perfect).

If alexander plays, they dont do all this wierd qb running with hasslebeck and we stuff the run allowing us to pull out.

I think it was the right call, Gruden went for it against us the week before and paid dearly. I'm sure he'd do things differently if he could. When the other team hands you the ball like that you've gotta take the points, and there was plenty of time left, there were 8 minutes still on the clock.
I was glad Joe decided to kick the FG because I didn't have much faith in us converting that 4th and 4, we were around 20% on third downs all day. I just never expected Hall to miss from 36 yards.

My favorite quote for situations like this come from old Sammy Baugh.
After the game where the Redskins lost to the Bears 73-0, a reporter asks Baugh how the game would have been different if the WR had held on for a touchdown in the first quarter.
Baugh replies: It would have been 73-7

That is an awesome quote, but I don't think they had our defense back then, lol. Look what we did to TB last week with a 14 point lead.
