11 catches, 215 yards, 2 TDs.

It's like someone is playing Madden and hotrouting Smith to run a fly on every play.

He and Santana definately deserved the probowl nods.

I thought the bears had a good D.

Best reciever in the NFL right now. Randy Moss just took another play off, TO is just another way to say cancer, and Marvin Harrison like his Colts QB chokes in the playoffs. Steve Smith is sick.

btw we can use this thread as the discussion thread for the game, its just that the title is so fitting. He is absolutely destroying the defense.

Smith is the best parts of Santana Moss and Laveraneus Coles combined. He's amazing.

I love Santana to death but we really need someone who can eat up those crossing routes and throws over the middle like Coles did too. Smith does that and goes deep like the best of them too. He's a monster.

That is a touchback that will be turned into a 1st down once they take the penalty. It is not a TD just yet.

He and Santana will double-handedly win the Pro Bowl for the NFC.

AMEN!

Man, do I hate the Panthers. Now I have to hear about how the Redskins lost and the Panthers won. To make matters even worse is that the guy can't name 3 players off of the Panthers. :banghead:

Ok, but you have to give the drugs to the entire Carolina FO. I'll do recon. Mike can watch the exits.

We need to copy Carolinas gameplan for how they get smith the ball he is amazing with the rock in his hands. Funny how he and Moss are so alike IMO.

Well they do a lot of things in the same way but Smith takes a lot of underneath and crossing routes that we don't give to Santana, but I know they're in the playbook because Coles ran them all the time, he just had his career nearly ended on each one.

I think our gameplan with Santana is great considering he has no one on the other side to take the heat off and he still got 1400 yards and 9 TDs, but we need someone who can run those intermediate routes and provide an additional threat on the other side. That would only make this offense that much more dangerous. I see that as being the missing puzzle piece to a top flight NFL defense on this team.

Interesting, I didn't know that. Maybe Danny should throw another bounty at him and get him to come back here for another Super Bowl run.

That's because all Jake does is throw it up and say a prayer. Luckily for him, Steve Smith is a god. The Panthers gameplan just reinforces my belief that the Skins should throw deep to Moss 1/5 of our plays. He has not had a ball intercepted on him all year.

Yeah, Henning is excellent. I've been meaning to post for the last couple of weeks that, aside from the Redskins, the Panthers are the best coached team left. They are always prepared and always have a game plan on both sides of the ball.

About Steve Smith, if Santana Moss is a 9/10 on the receiver scale, then Steve Smith is a 10.

Steve Smith is bad and has had a tremendous year so far. As of now, he is the best receiver in the nfl. Has tremendous speed and hands. He is also as tough as nails and brings a true passion to the game. Doing all this without tremendous size. Heck of a year no doubt.

2 Trips to the NFC Championship game in 3 years plus a SB torching of the 2003 PATS says otherwise. Just look up Jake's post season stats.

I think the two best QB's in the NFC advanced their teams to the Championship game.

I'm surprised people don't like Jake Delhomme. Some guys celebrate like that to rub it in to the opposing team but Delhomme is genuine and has a passion for the game. He is an awesome playoff QB and he had to put in his years as a back-up before he got a chance. The guy is a great story, I don't see how you could not like him.

Steve Smith is awesome but Delhomme deserves a little credit for getting him the ball seemingly at every opportunity. You never see Steve Smith wide open and not getting the ball.

I have to agree here. I neither like nor dislike Delhomme, but he gets it done... Actually, I just remembered that I like him from when he was with the Saints and he beat a heavily favored dallass team. So GO JAKE! :)

Smith is in a class all by himself based on this season.

I guess Muhammed was a god last year then. Come on, give Delhomme some credit. He did fine without Steve Smith last year.

I never said he wasn't tough but if you think he ran as many crossing routes over the middle as Smith and Coles have then you're mistaken. Getting hit once over the middle does not mean Santana is used often in that capacity. He isn't because Gibbs knows he'd get killed.

If you notice Delhomme targets one receiver and rarely checks down. He just throws it up and lets them make plays. He's not a bad QB, he just takes a LOT of chances and benefits from dynamite receivers. If you don't think he throws up prayers go back and look at some his 17 interceptions from this year and you'll see what I mean.

Did anybody catch Smith yelling at one of the asst coaches? It got pretty heated, John Fox had to come over and tell Smith to sit down.

That's nothing Rich. His 2nd or 3rd year, he nearly killed a practice squad WR, Anthony Bright, during a film session. Sucker punched him then beat the crap out of him. Bright had to spend quite a bit of time in the hospital. I think he was blind for a day or so. Not a pretty site. I'll try to find the article. But its been a while ago. And I may not be 100% correct with what I said above. But I know it was very bad. The Panthers were even thinking about cutting him loose.

Sorry for the above post. lol

I made a couple of errors. Here's a couple of quotes from the 2002 season.

An All-Pro kick returner as a rookie last season, Smith has struggled this year with his extra duties as a regular receiver. Before Week 14, he had scored just two touchdowns -- none on returns -- and had just one 100-yard receiving game.

He's also had problems off the field, receiving a one-game suspension last month for beating up teammate Anthony Bright during a film session -- an assault that was so bad, Bright was hospitalized for two days and filed charges against Smith.

His apology to his teammates wasn't immediately accepted, even though Smith admitted he is undergoing counseling, and his punishment continued when he caught just one pass in the win over Cleveland.

"Steve has come a long way, he's realized he made a mistake and he's humbled," Muhammad said. "Most of his energy is now focused on the field, and that's where it needs to be. We know he has potential, but that's not enough right now.

http://www.nfl.com/teams/story/CAR/5912071

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Nov. 20, 2002) -- The Carolina Panthers suspended wide receiver Steve Smith with a teammate during a team meeting.

Coach John Fox said Smith and receiver Anthony Bright had an "altercation" during a meeting Nov. 18.

Smith will miss Carolina's game Nov. 24 against the Atlanta Falcons.

Smith, an All-Pro kick returner as a rookie last season, has 36 catches for 534 yards and two touchdowns this season.

"First and foremost, I would like to apologize to Anthony Bright," Smith said in a press release. "I regret the actions that led to my suspension and want to apologize to my teammates, coaches, the organization, and fans of the Carolina Panthers. Being away and watching this week will be difficult, but I take full responsibility for my absence and actions."

Yeah, the Hawks shut down SS last night big time. They completely took away their entire scheme - they couldn't move the ball at all. Big props to Seattle for taking away their best offensive weapon.

I think they have their hands full with the Steelers though - they have several options on O ... should be a good game.
