I was at the send off on Thursday and it was a day I will never forget.

I was one of the first fans to show up at Redskins Park and when I got out of my truck, a few of the media were already there and recognized me from the send off the Friday before and asked me if I would like to be interviewed on TV.

I said "sure."

I then told them that "Gibbs" the dog was on his way ("Gibbs" owners are friends of mine) and the media people were eagerly waiting for them to arrive.

About 2 minutes later, here my friends were pulling up right next to us and I told the media that this was the owners of "Gibbs."

When they stepped out of their SUV, the media swarmed over them wanting to get "Gibbs" and them on TV.

If was funny seeing their faces when they were rushed by all the media.

Total shock. :lol1:

I got interviewed by Channel 9, Channel 4 and Comcast SportsNet. I also saw myself on Fox 5 and on RedskinsTV.com.

What a day to be a Redskins fan.

But, what really made this day special was when Joe Gibbs came out before the buses left and said a few words to the big crowd of Skins fans.

After Joe said how great we fans were and he signed a few autographs, he started to head back towards the car waiting for him and I went to shake Gibbs hand, he stopped to shake my hand and I said "Thanks, Joe."

While still shaking my hand he leans in towards me where our faces were like a foot away and he said looking me in the eye "No. Thank you for being the greatest fans."

Joe Gibbs is an amazing man and I am so proud that we, the Redskins fans, have him as our coach again.

I would have posted my pics of the send off, but in the attachment window after trying to put up ONE pic, it read "exceeds your quota by 34.0 KB.

What is up by that, Mods???

What a wonderful experience! I met him briefly as well, after their Tampa win (unfortunately I was unable to go to the sendoffs due to work). At any rate, he truely is even nicer in person than he appears to be on TV~ I didn't think that was possible.

Its simply amazing to me how even among a huge crowd of people Mr. Gibbs manages to have a genuine moment with each one. What a man!

We love you coach Gibbs! Thanks for comming back to us~

Awesome story Skins Fan 44! I would have chills had Gibbs said that to me for a long time. The man is one of the classiest individuals in the history of proffesional sports, and I feel honored he is our coach.

Hail Joe Gibbs!!

First off, happy birthday Dave!

I had a very similar experience when welcoming the team back Sunday morning. It was honestly the coldest I can remember (due to the high winds), and b/c it was in the 50's earlier in the day, I really wasn't well prepared at all. Fent, BNG, tessy, DoGood, and I waited outside in the nasty freezing weather and Gibbs made sure that he went down the line signing and talking to all the fans. After shaking my hand, he reached to sign my memoribilia, but I told him, "I don't have anything with me coach I just wanted to show up and thank you and the team for a great season". He then signed one of his pamphlets about his views as a Christian. I haven't read it yet, but I am looking forward to going through it.

He is such a great guy and there is nobody in the world I would rather have coach the Washington Redskins.
