Since living in Oklahoma, i come from two generations of Dallas Cowgirl fans. My Dad and Brother are also. But luckly I saw the Redskins in the 91'-92' season go to the Superbowl and win. You may call me rebelious for not going with family tradition, or maybe even a bandwagon boy. But i think God just opened my eyes to a team that has rich tradition and that was obviously a coicidence rather than bandwagon jumping. Well how did you guys get aquainted with the Redskins? I would like to know maybe this has been posted b4 but i haven't seen one and i am curious.

Football was not around my house when I was real young, since my mom didn't like it. but one day my friend called me and asked if I wanted to come over and watch a football game, so I went, turns out it was a Skins- Boys game and my friend was a Cowbioys fan ( still is) I don't even remember who won or nothing just that day I become a Skins fan. That was about 24 years ago or so and what a wild sometimes great, sometimes not ride.

I started liking the skins because my grandfather was a Giants fan and my dad a Cowboys fan. I wanted to join in the rivalry and because i hate any team from philly so the eagles were out and arizona wasnt a rivalry i went with the skins.... plus i was born in D.C.

Father became a skins fan when he went to GW and while working in DC, (I was born in Rockville, MD). I officially became a skins fan when at 8 years old I was crying when the skins were down 10-0 to the denver broncos in the super bowl... The rest is legend...

I became a Skins fan #1 because I am originally from Washington but the main reason is because on a Thanksgiving day game about 20 years ago, my family was all at my grandmothers house for the usual holiday dinner. All the guys were in one room looking at football. The Redskins were playing the Cowboys (during their glory days).
Everybody in that house were rooting for the Cowboys except one old man, who was a friend of the family.
Well the Redskins got killed and I remember the look on that old guys face and the rest of them berated him.
I said, this team can't be all bad. So the next week (me not being a football fan) was interested in seeing how the Redskins did, and of course they lost again. The next week I said, 'I wonder what washington is gonna do? So I watched part of the ending of the game against the Cardinals and the Skins lost a close game.
Well after that I just fell in love with the Redskins and have been a dieheart fan every since. So my beginning as a Skins fan was not a good one.
Most people become fans of winning teams but for some reason I started to love the bad horrible Redskins.

My father's a Redskins fan so I just followed the tradition. Plus, I was born in Silver Springs Md.
I could never imagine cheering for another team......

Born in Texas but became a Skins fan because the team just fit my persinality back then (70's). Times have been hard these years after Gibbs left but hopefully things are looking up!

yeah, grew up just outside DC (Dumfries, Va) and tried rooting for the raider (Bo Jackson), but the Redskins felt right.

First game I ever watched was SuperBowl 17. Became a fan that night and have grown more die hard every year.

My Mom and Uncle were both diehards after living in the DC area in the early 70's. The HTTR virus was passed to me at birth and to date no cure has become available.

Father. Mother. Every other relative in my family that like football is a Skins fan. Once my sister rooted for the Eagles for a couple years, but she is now a Skins fan with the rest of us. We still tease her relentlessly about it.

That my folks lived in the area, and one of my friends took me to a game at RFK when I was young and I was just hooked. The crowd was the best thing, and to tell u the truth I don't even remember who won but we were playing the giants and LT.

i didnt know it, but i was a skins fan since i was conceived. i come from a big fam.....6 brothers and 2 sisters. my parents lived in the DC area all their lives and moved to MD 30+ years ago. my whole family are skins fans, none have strayed . and now the second generation, all 9 of my nieces and nephews, are being brought up just the same. i was watching football with the family ever since i was little. the funny thing is that even though i have 6 brothers, it was my sister that thought me about football. but it was only about 7 years that i have gotten into football the way that i am into it know. before, i cheered and loved the skins, but now, i found myself loving the skins and football more and more every year.

two reasons, first and foremost, i am a third generation skins fan...so since i was the lone swimmer in the pool, i have been a skins fan. secondly i was born in Towson, MD but never was allowed to be a colts fan(yes i'm that old, lol) best pic is of my father and myself at the age of one at ole War Memorial Stadium when the skins played the colts. in a sea of white and blue, there me and my father were sporting the burgundy and gold.

I am going to show my age here, but I became a Redskins fan back in 1968 when I was 8 years old. When you grow up around the DC area, it is hard not to be a Skins fan.
The funny thing is though, I had a friend(who was 2 years older then me)that was a Baltimore Colts fan back then, and he was the one who got me into football in the first place, trying to get me to be a fan of the Colts.
I would watch football, not really rooting for any team, until I watched a Skins-Cowboys game. After that, I was hooked.
I then told my friend that I now was a Redskins fan, and he told me that he would not be my friend unless I was a Colts fan. I said "nice knowing you", and the rest is history.

My father was a Redskins fan. Not sure why as he was from Florida and went to a lot of Dolphins games. Think he was a big fan of Sonny. Anyway it's kinda odd considering neither he nor I have been anywhere near DC ever. He's more a Pats fan now(yuck) as all the years up here in New England must have corrupted him. Not me though :)

When I was a youngster many years ago I collected baseball and football cards like every other kid. I remember opening up a pack of football cards that had a Jim Ringo card in it I believe. I saw the old Skins helmet with the feather that ran up the back and that was all it took. Been a Skins fan ever since that day. Which is probably why I'm one of the few who like the retro unis and wish they would keep them. At least the helmets. I love the spear on it.
