Quarterback Patrick Ramsey experienced some growing pains during the morning practice. He struggled to find his rhythm, which explained why his timing was off with his receivers and why his touch wasn't consistent. Many times during the morning and afternoon workouts, the second-year quarterback shouted at himself in frustration, and Coach Steve Spurrier admitted afterward he was displeased with the way the entire offense played. Ramsey said the defense confused him during practice. In the afternoon, Ramsey looked a little more comfortable but still missed some receivers and even fumbled a snap. "There were tough plays I feel I should have made out there," Ramsey said. "It took a little while to get the rhythm today."

In an article about Dan Wilkinson in today's Post, there's some mention of the defense trying to confuse Ramsey as much as possible by shifting a lot before every play. According to both that article and this Ramsey Watch, it seems like it worked very well. That was one of his big problems last year, and it looks like he's not past it yet.

The good thing about this is, it is still very early in his first full camp so lets just chalk it up to growing pains and let him use the preseason to get over as much as he can. Remember guys he is still a very inexperienced payer and he will struggle now and some in the season, lets hope he gets most of it out of the way now

I read that this morning in the Post. My first thought was: This is why you must remember Ramsey has started five NFL games. Lots of people on this site are very confident Ramsey will be a star. After just five starts, I'm not sure what makes them so confident. I just hope they're correct.

Hey guys, there are a bunch of exceptional LBs and CBs over there on that other side that played together last years. Ramsey has several new pieces to the puzzle to work in. I'm not worried.

The problem is, you could probably say that for at least 10 of the games on our schedule. That can't be an excuse in the NFL.

It sure is the 3rd day of TC, Joe. You're talking about an offensive unit that hasn't played together vs 8 of 11 on D that have in the same system. The D should be whippin' up on them early on here.

I dunno. You can sa that, then at the same time say that Ramsey's been on the team for a year, so he should know the nuances of our defense better than any other. There are factors all over the place. We'll see.

He has spent a lot time in book study this offseeason but how much did he play vs our defense till camp started. Give this kid a chance before we get worried

It's not that I'm not giving him a chance. Check out my avatar. ;)

I'm just thinking that he needs to be able to play against a shifting defense. It's what the Saints did to him last year.

I think we should bench him and go with Hamden. Hahahahahaha

I'm glad they're exercising his brain in training camp this way. Makes him that much more prepared in the games.

It is 1 report from 1 day in training camp. Tha's all!
It is good to see the Coach become concerned - identify the needs and address them now.
Let's see how Patrick does after the 1st exhibition game when he gets a few "game time" reps.
I'm not worried - I believe we have a good QB who will become an All-Pro QB!

like spurrier said, this is the time for him to make mistakes, in TC and in preseason so that they can go back and correct them in time for the season. ive already accepted the fact that he is going to have some tough times this season, but i still feel he will be a good qb for the B&G.

Guys and gals we need to face a bit of reality. Patrick Ramsey is young. He is not going to come out and look like Elway, Marino, Farve, etc....right away. He is only in his second year with five starts, there will be mistakes made, there will be ugly plays, there will be horrid throws, but there will also be amazing accuracy, great passes. There will be highs and lows this season with Patrick. Anyone that flips wehn he makes a bad choice, a mistake it just down right nuts. We Skin fans need two thing with Patrick, faith and patience.
