When I pick through this Steelers forum I have noticed several times that these guys like the Redskins. Kinda strange.
Best team of the past (other than the Steelers)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What's the best team of years gone by..other than the Steelers of course cuz we all know nothing tops the Steelers Dynasty of the 70's.
The skins when Joe Gibbs was there w/ the Hogs, and Theismann, Riggins, and the fun bunch comes to mind as one great one.
Steelersfever is a decent forum.

I've always respected the Steeler Nation. They are die hard fans...they know their football...and they travel better than any fanbase in the NFL.
They are CLEARLY better than that other fanbase in the state of Pennsylvania. ;)

I guess winning a few superbowls will bring you some class.

lol
kind ahard to say i have anything agaisnt the steelers. i mean, they have a great coach, are about running the ball, and blitz the other team. doesnt sound like a bad strategy.

I like the Steelers mainly because of Hines Ward. Great football player. I also like the fact that all of Pittsburgh's sports teams rock black and gold.

Dallas being a notable exception to this statement.

I guess I'm rooting for the Steelers because I think Hines Ward, Bill Cowher, and especially the Bus deserve a ring. Those guys are class acts.

For once, I agree with you. ;)

That's cool they are giving us props. Now, I'm gonna turnaround and give them some props. I hope they pound Seattle into oblivion next Sunday.

This is good to hear, as it helps me decide who to root for next week. I was pretty ambivalent about both teams. On one hand, it would be nice to see a team who's never won it get the ring, but, as sick of I am about hearing Bettis' name, it would make a great story if the team won and sent him into retirement that way. Plus, Holmgren annoys me, as does Sean Alexander, and this post just pushed me over the fence into Steeler-land....

As much as I respect the Steelers, I don't want to see a team ahead of us on the total Super Bowl victory race.
So I want Seattle to notch their first.

They're already ahead of us.
I've always thought of Steeler fans as the AFC equivalent of Redskin fans. They're smart about football, and actually watch and pay attention to the games. They are, for the most part, very knowledgeable fans and are always dedicated to their team.

No, you aren't counting our Super Bowl in '06 ;)

My moms from Pittsburgh, and unless the Skins are playing the Stillers (or a Stillers loss could help the Skins), I sorta pull for them. Not out and out-yell at the TV-ruin my day if they lose-type rooting, but just casual.
I've always liked their teams - strong defense, running the ball etc. Definetly pullin for them in the SB.

I would like to see Cowher get a ring and I don't want Holmgren to be the first head coach to get a ring with two different team's.

Cowher, Dan Rooney and Jerome all deserve a ring. I will be pulling for the Stillers on Super Sunday.

I always liked the Steelers when we weren't playing them. Of course, my relatives/fellow fans give me grief for it, but whatever. :)

Cowher is a class act. Bettis is as well. Not that Seattle has many players that aren't, but this is Bettis' last chance at one and I would love to see Cowher get his.
I'll root for the Steelers.

Hi there-I am a Steeler fan living in DC. In my humble estimation, there are few individuals who deserve more respect than Joe Gibbs. The guy is a proven winner, a class act and just a good human being. In this day's NFL, it seems such individuals are harder and harder to find.
The biggest reason I am a Steeler fan (besides my father being from there and growing up in the 70s), is because to me, the Steeler organization is a class act. Team comes first. It is family owned, and is an integral part of the city of Pittsburgh. You can see the character in the kind of players they draft and don't draft (Plaxico not withstanding). You can also see it in the coach. Cowher is a great coach, who Sunday will hopefully get over the final hump that keeps him from being condidered one of the best ever.
You Skins fans have alot to look forward to in the next couple of years. In my humble estimation, Gibbs is helping Snyder put the pieces in place for a long and sustained competitive push. Certainly the hiring of Saunders, as well as Gregg Williams staying in DC means that Gibbs greatest SECOND legacy with the Skins (the 1st being 3 Lombardis) will be putting the pieces in place for the franchises future success. Enjoy the process of seeing them build and compete, because the truth is, it happens not very often in today's NFL.
Glad I found this board, I like talking football and it looks like this board has a good core of knowlegeable football fans. Maybe Pittsburgh-Washington next February in Miami?:)

ps. If you know of anyone who might be a season ticket holder who lucked into a 1-2 ticket(s) to SB XL in Detroit and is willing to sell it for 300-500 over face to a hard core member of the Steeler Nation, please send me an email, I would greatly appreciate it. Those &^$*#@% ticket brokers have made the Super Bowl an impossibility for the common man.:banghead:

Same. My roommate is a Browns fan, so the Steelers are his Dallas, so I can't say too many positive things about them when he's around.

It takes greatness to recognize it (I'm pretty sure I just did a spin off of another quote but whatever). I have a lot of respect for that franchise and what they have accomplished.

We are the Kryptonite to his Super Men (so to speak)
Steelers>:sfight: <Browns
If he ever gives you $#@%$#% about your team, remind him that "If it's Brown, flush it down!"
The funnny thing is that although I am a Steeler fan, if they can't win the division, I always pull for the Brownies to win it, just because they are representative of the same blue collar football team that the Steeler fans are. When I say this to people from Pittsburgh, they look at me like I'm a leper.

I have a ticket but I am going to detroit :) Im the only one in my whole family that is not a pittsburgh steeler. Of course, I will be wearing my Sean Taylor Jersey and maybe, just maybe cheering for the steelers with a terrible towel. :)
Welcome and Hail from Mexico !!!!!
