It looks like my job will require me to leave Minnesota for the warmer climate of Phoenix, Arizona this weekend. I will only be there Fri-Sun and I will have to do some work (aka attend the Wild vs. Coyotes game Saturday night).
But, since I've never been to Phoenix before, I'm open to suggestions as to what is good to do in Phoenix, other than sit by the hotel pool.

You could check out the PGA tourney over at TPC Scottsdale. Maybe the PR folks on one of the teams could even score you free passes.

Good idea. I know the PR people from my team. I'll have to look into that.

For this weekend only, yes. I will be returning to Minnesota in short order however.

Scottsdale seemed to have a nice little night life goingon with some upscale restaurants and clubs... But I prefer to slum it and enjoyed the dive bar I hit with BNG. Maybe the Suns are in town? But then again, I'd rather watch paint dry then be at an NBA game. The area near the stadium seemed the perfect place to wander around and eat and drink. Four Peaks was a great little micro brewery.

I'm not much of an "upscale" guy myself, or NBA guy for that matter. But the micro brewery sounds interesting. I have also identified a couple of Irish pubs with live music that I might try and check out.

I'm back now, a day late.
I didn't really have any free time to do any of the things that were suggested. But the team got a good win 6-4!
I was supposed to get home yesterday. But my flight was overbooked, so I got bumped. They ended up flying me to Denver last night and I got flight from Denver home this morning. The airline covered the hotel in Denver and I got a voucher for a free round trip in the next year.
Not bad. I was able to parlay my free trip into another free trip. I think I'll probably use it to go to Las Vegas during the Olympic break.

Glad to hear you had a safe trip and got a win. I watched a little of the Penguis/Islanders game the other day and got a little of that "hockey itch" back. Before the strike it was a fill blown addiction, but now it has dropped behind college bball. I don't care for the NBA at all.

Phoenix is a nice, warm city that most of us would love to go to just for a bit. Nice change of scenery for awhile no doubt. Enjoy your trip. Did I mention Phoenix is warm and has great weather?

I could go in your place as long as the work thing is removed. I'll carry by golf clubs and tell eveyone my name is Minnesota Mike. I think it'll work if they haven't seen you before. :D
