Jaguars | Tice expected to work with offensive line
Wed, 1 Feb 2006 19:53:24 -0800
Don Seeholzer, of the Pioneer Press, reports Jacksonville Jaguars assistant head coach Mike Tice is expected to spend a lot of time working with the team's offensive line and new offensive line coach Andy Heck. In an interview with Jacksonville radio station WOKV, Tice said he also talked with one of the Minnesota Vikings' 16 possible free agents about joining him in Jacksonville but declined to name the player.
So, Tice just got the Jags into a Tampering charge. Nice going Meathead.

Why would he tell a radio station that? Mike Tice got hit in the head one to many times as a player.

worst. Head Coach. Ever.
What a knuckle head. I wonder which Free Agent it was. Now if he talked to the guy before he signed the Jags contract...is it tampering?

Its tampering now. You can't speak to players/coaches under contract without the permission of the team.

What a goofball. The NFL needs to crackdown on him... They came after us for doing less.

Maybe he talked to the player before the final paperwork on his contract was signed?

Nope. Two words, Rich Kotite.

i don't know all the rules, but i think that would still violate the tampering rules because he's no longer a part of that team and he's encouraging him to go elsewhere.

Not only that, but he was encouraging the player to go to the team he was about to sign with.

Yeah, don't get too carried away. If Steve Spurrier weren't on the golf course he'd tell you different.

If he was still HC when he did it, could he have given himself permission?

I dont think much will happen. He will just say he wasnt with Jacksonville yet. I wanna see charges before he is made town dummy.

I think the GM has to, but even then, its still clearly tampering.

Well to be fair...he already was town dummy even if no charges are filed.

True. Well the last thing this guy needs is more NFL rules violations..

Norval Turner, anyone? At least Tice has a backbone. Who is Rich Kotite? I also think that after watching the Bills v. Dolphins game where the Bills were up 21 in the first quarter and still didn't run the ball, and the reversion back to JP Losman when Holcomb was doing fine, Mike Mularkey deserves some consideration for worst coach ever.
