Did anybody hear about this? I just ran across it on the local news site, I don't remember ever hearing about it. Not a big deal anyway.

if its just 1 day, i guess it isnt that big of a deal, but i would kinda expect better from springs. although it was reckless driving(speeding), and who hasnt gotten that. well i havent, but i dont drive much.

The thing is, everybody flies on the Greenway, if you aren't going 85 mph, you will get run off the road. I guess because he was so far above (reckless starts at 20 mph over the speed limit) he had to serve jail time and he lost his license for 6 months. That sucks, I better be more careful.

Can't sit here and scold Shawn for wrong-doing, when I've been caught excessively speeding a bunch of times. Sometimes you gotta get what you paid for in an engine. :) This does come as shocking news, however.

Sucks he had to spend a night in jail for a reckless, but he was flyin. Surprised the cop was able to keep up with him.

It would be hard not to drive very fast if you had the proper vehicle as Sean evidently does. I would be a bit more concerned about the 6 month license suspension. I had to learn the hard way awhile back that Illinois is the only state in the nation where you can't go to jail for excessive speeding. No one should ever be going 33 mph over the speed limit. Love his excuse though- definitely a "true Redskin."

We've all sped at one time or another, but it's still no excuse.
What if something happened?Would you feel the same way if some one was injured or killed?
That's a dangerous situation for everyone concerned.
I've been late for work too,but I've never drove 90 + to get there.
It's just plain stupid.

Yeah speeding is one thing, almost warping time on the freeway is another.

Shoot, I drive between 80-90 MPH down 495 in the morning getting to work, and I have had PG county cops pass me. Not that big of a deal in the fast lane baby.

I bet he does have to go. My wife had to after 2 speeding tickets in a 6 month period, to reduce the points on her license.

I'm not going to hold this against him, considering he was willing to give up an organ to his dad and effectively end his football career.

98 isnt nothin, I hit 160-170 on my bike consistantly. SS is still one of my favorites.

170? Yikes...you need to be a bit more careful!
Anyway...anything under 100 is ok in my book. I roll over 80 every day on 495/66, and I'm passed frequently.
If I owned a car as nice as Spring's car, I'd probably push 100 also. :guilty:

Agreed. Or worse, he will cause someone else to die too.
If you want to go over 100 mph, do it on a racetrack.

Kind of suprised he actually went to jail at all for excessive speed. You figure being a celeb and being able to afford a lawyer he would walk away with a hand slap.
I have been to court and seen people caught driving drunk that didn't spend a day in jail if they had a lawyer.

It says in the article that this happened back in September, I think he just paid the price for it now.
I know lots of people that regularly drive this fast, but slow down Shawn. Be safe, we need ya and so does your family!

Thats funny but not funny. He said he was late for work. I guess he didn't want to be late for Gregg Williams Practice. He must of figured one day in jail was worse than being late for the Animal trainers practice!!!!!!
Now thats a core Redskin Guy.

To my way of thinking, for the $$$ you pay to drive the Greenway you be allowed to speed. Let the mobile tax collectors pick up their revenue on 495.

They wrote it up for 98. My guess he was pushing 120. I know 20 yrs ago I got pulled for 125 and the guy wrote it up as 74 so it wouldn't be reckless. Thanks again officer. Maybe the officer was giving him a break, you never know.

You know when I read this, I thought:
"Hmm I wonder what carnival that was to pay to get out of jail for donations?"
Now I see it and the more I think about it, it is a lesson well learned. He must resist getting into risking other people in anything with him or others.

It wouldn't be possible to drive 120 on that stretch of road unless he was in an Indy car. Its a windy road, its hard enough to stay on going 85.

I don't know Rich. if he was coming out of a corner at 85, that car could get there quick. I haven't been on that road for a while though.

I live about a half mile from the end of it, a good portion of it has been closed down to 2 and even one lane for construction. If he were to have gone faster than 98 mph, it would have to be right after coming thru the toll booth on the Sterling end. Anyway, even at 98 mph, he is lucky all that happened is getting pulled over, hopefully he has learned his lesson.

That would make sense. still have hard time believing that he would go to jail for 98, when other celebs walk for much worse.

All of this is going to be nothing especially with the 839754094357437509743058 posts on what is going to happen to Sean Taylor. Springs is a good guy IMO who just made a mistake. I think that if Shawn gets hurt again he will probably retire to give his organ to his dad who need a transfer. That just says what kind of a guy he is.

"SPRINGS ","SHAWN ","A","030","XXXX","NE 130TH ","ST","REDMOND ","WA","06/22/2005","65-69MPH/45MPH ZONE "
This is probably why he went to jail.. habitual offender.. there could be more tickets in loudoun/DC/MD as well..
