During President Bush's first term, Lawrence Franklin was part of a core network of neoconservative strategists at the Pentagon who pushed for taking a hawkish line in the Middle East. He advocated the removal of Iran's theocratic government and made secret trips to Italy in 2001 to learn more about Tehran's overseas intelligence operations, colleagues say.
Now Mr. Franklin works nights as a parking valet at Charles Town Races & Slots in West Virginia. The 59-year-old Farsi speaker and father of five was sentenced last month to more than 12 years in prison for passing classified information to two lobbyists and an Israeli diplomat in hopes they would steer the Bush administration toward taking a tougher approach toward Iran.Source: Wall Street Journal [subscription required] (http://online.wsj.com/article/SB113917770993565451.html?mod=home_page_one_us)

Oddly enough...Mrs. dj_stouty and I were contemplating going to Charlestown Slots this Saturday night to watch the ponies and try our luck at some video poker.
I'll probably park in the sef-parking. No telling what a former spy may do to my car. ;)

I went up there a couple of months ago. It was good fun but the wife isn't big on the ponies. She didn't do too well on the video poker, so its my guess that the next time we go it will be to a place with actual cards, lol.

Great, so when those 12 Farsi speaking West Virginians show up, it'll validate his entire hiring process, lol.

I hear ya...casinos aren't the same if they don't have table games. Its only a matter of time until every slot joint in the US has roulette/BJ/Baccarat..etc.
Anyway, I'll say hi to the valet for you guys.

I can't go to a Casino unless they have a Poker room. At least then I am playing other people. Betting against the house is your surest form of losing.
