Lure of basketball brings Fox's Brown to CBS

James Brown, the host of Fox's popular NFL studio show for the past 12 years, is returning to CBS, where he began his network career.

Brown's move, which CBS announced Monday, is among a handful involving prominent NFL TV personalities.

• CBS sideline reporter Bonnie Bernstein said Monday she is leaving the network to begin a consulting firm called Velvet Hammer Media, aimed at current and aspiring broadcasters.

• CBS sideline reporter Armen Keteyian, in a move expected to be announced this week, will be moving from CBS Sports to CBS News, two executives with knowledge of the move said.

• ESPN reporter Andrea Kremer is being considered for a spot with NBC's Sunday night NFL coverage team. "I'm flattered to be considered, but right now I'm under contract to ESPN," said Kremer, who has been with ESPN since 1989 and is under contract through April.

As for the future of Fox NFL Sunday, analyst Terry Bradshaw could become the host, Brown speculated. But David Hill, chairman of Fox Sports, told USA TODAY he won't make a decision for months.

Big loss for FOX, JB is one of the best.

Andrea Kremer has always been good but did you all see that neck during the Super Bowl? Ugh, wrap an ascot around that or wear a turtleneck.

Yeah, I read this in the Post this morning, and I was shocked by it.

its sad to see the only redskins homer on the NFC's coverage show leaving. i watch FOX more than i watch CBS but with bradshaw most liking being JB's replacement, i may have to find another pre-game show to watch. :(

I don't get why he is going to CBS. Isn't football moving from CBS to NBC next year? What will JB be doing at CBS then?

This is the format for next year:

Fox has the NFC package
CBS has the AFC package
NBC has the Sunday Night package (with marquee games and the ability to poach from Fox/CBS at the end of the season)
ESPN has the Monday Night package
NFL Network has the late season Thursday/Saturday Night package

ABC is now the network with no football.

The Fox pregame will be unwatchable with Terry Bradsshaw as the ring leader and Brown gone. Bad move!

I'm going to miss Brown, he was the best part of the show and the most educated out of the four. Very bad move!

JB is a man with a lot of class and intellegence. I'm glad to see him putting some distance between Terry Bradshaw.

I can't see Bradshow hosting the show, something tells me it would be a mess. But regardless this is a bad move for Fox, they lose a great host in JB, big pick up for CBS. Best of luck JB.

Its very sad to see JB leave my favorite pregame show. I cant see TB leading the show either. What would be nice is if they brought Chris Collinsworth(I think thats how u spell his last name) back to lead the show.

Collinsworth has signed on with NBC to be in their studio pregame show.

JB was hands down my favorite...and he was the perfect straight man to sit beisde the joke-cracking Bradshaw and Howie.

I will still watch FOX pre-game, but I'll miss JB.

FOX is loosing alot of talent. Collinsworth and JB are some of my favorite TV personalities.

JB was the reason to watch Fox Pre-game. He will be missed and impossible to replace.

I agree - there is NO WAY, NO HOW, this will happen. Bradshaw is the comedy sideshow (or at least he tries to be) and you always need a straight-laced guy to run things. I predict that Fox will lure someone "safe" from out of the play-by-play booth (i.e Kenny Albert) and put him in that role. Whatever they do, big loss for FOX.

Bradshaw? He's not very good as a straight man. He can barely read the cue cards too. Nah, they'll be looking outside the current team for JB's replacement, IMO.

Bah :( He was my favorite on the FOX pregame show.

I guess it'll be okay for FOX though. They still have the best pregame show by far, and their production quality (audio and video) is the best as well. CBS can't hold a candle to it.

I guess my new favorite on the pre-game show is Jimmie Johnson, even though he was a Cowboy :/

Fox's show has slowly been going down the toilet for years, and I have a feeling that JB knew it was time to cut his losses and move onto greener pastures. I remember when the Fox Pre-game show would kill in the ratings, and now CBS is #1. They'll need to go hire someone REALLY good if they want to repair the damage done on that show.

I will still watch FOX pre-game, but I'll miss JB.Yeah he seemed to anchor those guys very well. CBS football coverage is horrid. Bad color bad graphics, I am glad they don't handle the NFC.
