Just one more reason I can't wait for the season to start. If Smoot steps it up and Bowen is as good as I think he can be we might have a decent backfield instead of just Champ and pray for a bad pass :D

It is good to hear Smoot get serious... that has been his main problem I think... he joked so much last year that he was unprepared and many times got beat deep. This year he seems a tad more focused.

When I see it on the field with Smoot I will believe it. Hope he shows me this year.

I hope he does well, but I don't think he will be eating pineapples (make it to the Pro Bowl). Not because of his ablity but because of the guy across from him. I have never seen two CB from the same team make the Pro Bowl. :smash:

I like Smoot, but Champ is my man.

It sure would be cool for Smoot to make the selection committee re-think that little piece of historical data though!

I think the Eagles had Vincent and Taylor, as recently as last year maybe... i could be wrong... but at least there is a shot for both to go.

Looking for Smoot to have a big year as well but he is gonna have to prove it because you know that opposing QB's will not be throwing to that other side on a consistent basis.

The reason I look for big things from Smoot this year is one thing.....its a contract year for him. He'll get paid for what he does this year.

I like Smoot a lot. And I'm going to miss his personality when he leaves the Redskins next year. No way will he be wearing B&G after this year. With the FO trying to wrap Champ up for the next 7-10 years, there just wont be money left for Smoot.

With that said, don't be surprised if Smoot makes it to Hawaii. If he stays healthy for the year of couse......

every eagles starting defensive back was a pro bowler last year excluding blaine bishop.

Smoot will definately have a chance to prove himself. I'm sure every team on the schedule has/will have seen the footage of Antonio Bryant working him over like a red-headed step child in last seasons finale. (No offense to those red-heads out there)

He needs to start playing like a pro instead of assuming other teams fear him like a pro bowler.

That game against the cowboys last year still has me worried about Smoot. I mean Bryant caught for 170 yards..... That was there whole offense (except for Emmitt falling short :p ).

As far as getting his chances,..........he will. Let's keep it real though.... teams don't fear him, they fear Champ Baily. And Baily doesn't say a word about how good he is, he lets others talk about him. What a "Classy Guy".

Actually Luvskins, Champ has started talking about it a bit more. Smoot has brought that out of him a little. He said in the article that he knew nobody was going to throw to him. But Spurrier and others have noticed a difference, whereas last year is was just Smoot talking. I think his offseason workouts also say a lot to his commitment. Even if he's a long way from pineapple, you have to have that vision and I think he sees that he needs to improve. To talk all that smack and get beat by Antonio Bryant like a punk has to stick in Smoot's craw. He probably sees every catch Bryant made with every bench rep. This year is not just another year where we look good on paper, but this a year where a number of players have taken charge (i.e. Smoot, Lavar on defense and Jansen on offense) because they known disappointment their entire career and they know that they have to get better and make sure those around them are getting better. I look to compete with the Eagles for the best db's just like I expect to compete with the Ravens or Steelers for best LB's the biggest difference to me is the motivation of our players. They seem more fired up than ever because they know our acquisitions were solid and we have a QB, however green he might be, to put our faith in. I don't think it's too much of a stretch for Smoot to be in the Pro Bowl, but if not, I think he will still be pro bowl caliber.

I sure hope Smoot can back up his loud mouth with some productivity.
