Are you ready for some football???? It's about that time. I was wondering; as fans of our beloved Redskins, what area of the first pre-season game are you going to pay "special attention" to? If you could only pick ONE......what area are you going to FOCUS on in the game against Carolina?

A. The play calling of Steve Spurrier.

B. The play of Patrick Ramsey.

C. The competition at Running Back.

D. The play of our NEW free-agents.

E. Steven Davis and his new role with "the enemy".

F. How the DL will stand up in thier first test of the season.

G. How Taylor Jacobs and the rest of the "rookies" will perform.

H. The play of the special teams.

I. Something Else.

Actually, I think that all of these topics will be interesting as far as how they play out. If I personally had to pick only one, I would pick "B". I want to really see the play of Patrick Ramsey. Does he have a good grasp of the offense. Is he making good reads. How is going to stand up against the pressure. Does he look like he is ready to take the reigns of the offense. Are his throws hitting the mark, etc.

What keys are you guys looking for in the first game of the pre-season????

I am also interested in how Ramsey does... but I wonder how much he will play in this first game?

I'll definately be watching the play of Ramsey first; but also the RB's and our safetey's, and yes the real Fun n Gun since we should have the players to execute it now.

I just hope Spurrier sticks to his guns and remembers what he learned from last year... dont send out the starters and rack up tons of points thinking it is a good sign... use them sparingly!

Ramsey won't get more than a couple of posessions in this game if Spurrier plays it right. Hamdan will probably wind up with the most snaps of the day. Hopefully Banks will get some, too. I wanna see him out there.

I am interested in seeing how well our DL plays with Big Daddy.

Personally, I'm more interested in seeing how well they play without Big Daddy. ;)

Actually, I heard Spurrier say this morning that Ramsey will probably play more this preseason then any other starting QB in the league.

I'd like to see him get the playing time but not at the expense of getting injured. I'll definately watch him.

Really? Hmmm, interesting. I'll consider it a good thing as long as he's not injured. I still wanna see Banks get some time, though.

It will take me till the first half is over before I get into watching certian players as I just want to soak in the return of the greatest thing in sports...Redskins football and then I wanna see how our lines play.

I feel you on this one. I just want to see us on the field "playing". I don't want any injuries either...... not even the wind knocked out.... not even a spinter.

im going to NYC this weekend so i might miss the game . but i will set my VCR to watch it when i get back home. the panthers have a very good defense, so i'll be looking to see how the protection holds up for Ram and how big the holes are for the backs. of course, i want to see how ramsey takes command of the offense and makes some plays to keep drives alive. i know that spurrier plans to play him alot during the preseason, but please SS, dont get him hurt! i want to see how the kicking game performs....and i want to see the D hold davis to -2 yards rushing in his 7-10 carries (just a guess)...

I wanna see the battle between Terrell and Ohalete for safety.

With regards to Ramsey and the PreSeason, I think he will play a little longer than established QB's on other teams. SS needs game film to evaluate his progress. He said as much on ESPN. So I think you can expect Ramsey to play longer and the starting O line group, so he doesn't take a beating while SS evaluates.

I think the receiving group will play less than Ramsey, Coles and Gardner definately will only be in a series or 2, so that Jacobs and Russell can get some real game time.

Finally, the way Terrell is playing in camp, from what I have been hearing anyway, that he may hang on to the FS spot, which moves Bowen over to SS, which moves Ohalete to the bench.

The passing game. Since that's all Spurrier does & what we were worst at. A bad combination especially if it were to stay that way.

So Ramsey, first. How far he has come along.

And WR core, second. How well they works with Ramsey.

You will get a good test of your O line. The Panther D Line and line backers are as good as any in football. The starting line was only together for 8 games last year with suspensions to Peppers and Buckner. Our secondary is still suspect and should be prime for fun and gun...if the QB has time.

Davis looks great and we hope to have D Foster back by the second preseason game. Thats as good of a 1-2 RB punch as there is in the league if Foster gets healthy.

Our Offense is better but will be run first, predictable and with Peete at QB how good can it be. We have upgraded the line and recievers though. If we can score 21 points we will beat most teams.

I am interested to see what Steve has learned in a year in the NFL. Running up the score in preseason is stupid.
