Corruption is swirling around Democatic Congressman William Jefferson of [where else?] Louisiana. If he doesn't plead guilty to accepting a bribe from a former aid, he will be indicted for same -- and maybe one or two other things. Nothing quite so dramatic as the Dukester of California, who went down for bribery last year, but this guy deserves prison time.
For all the smarmy the details, read this (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/15/AR2006021502752_pf.html).

Huey Long would be proud. Not enough hookers involved in this scandal to interest Huey much. That man had some standards.

Congress ought to change the budget.
They ought to use the taxpayer's money and build a prison for all of the crooked and corrupt people in Washington.
That way they could get their hands dirty for real,by doing the peoples business for once,by doing a little hard labor. :imshock:

We could send them to Afghanistan to do the landmine cleanup in our faulty body armor.

He should be thrown out of the house and every Democrat should vote for his expulsion. There will be no excuse if you tolerate corruption in your own party.

Do these guys ever actually see the inside of a jail cell?
While in the lobby of the law firm, Jefferson approached Pfeffer in private and told him that he would require 5 to 7 percent of Mody's new Nigerian company, the court document said.
Later, in a phone conversation, Jefferson told Pfeffer that he wanted a family member to be put on the payroll of the Nigerian company and to receive about $2,500 to $5,000 in monthly payments, court documents said.
"Pfeffer understood that [Jefferson] was soliciting a bribe in exchange" for the congressman's assistance in "official acts," including influencing high-ranking officials in the Nigerian government via trips and correspondences, and meeting with officials of the Export-Import Bank to help secure financing, the court document said.
Maybe one of you connected guys can explain this to me: Why do congressman sell out so easily? Seems to me there plenty of ways for a congressman to make good money legally.

There was a congressman from down here in these parts who was caught on tape selling his vote for a set of snow tires. And a State Senator who killed a bill for...umm...lets say it starts with the letters: "H" and "J".

And a State Senator who killed a bill for...umm...lets say it starts with the letters: "H" and "J".He prefers a hands-on relationship with his constituents.

I wonder if he has anything to do with that e-mail I got about that Nigerian bank account. I gave them my account number like they asked, but now I'm just waiting for all that money they were going to wire to me.
