Ok, here's the official nba allstar weekend thread. Tonight at 7 it officially kicks off with the celebrity basketball game, and at 9 is the rookie challenge game. And please, don't fill this thread with a whole bunch of posts about why you think the Allstar game is stupid...

Haha, I saw that, and then he bent down over him and stared the poor guy down, how embarrassing.
I watched a little bit of this game but it didn't hold my interest. If they had just kept the camera on Eva Longoria then I probably would have kept watching.

i didnt see much of the game either but i did see chris brown show bow wow up. if chris brown was a rapper, that would be the beginning of some beef on wax, lol.

I fell asleep in the rookie game too. I'm sooo excited for Gilbert. This could really boost his publicity.

TNT had a show where they added ten players to the original list of the 50 greatest players in NBA history. Real interesting discussions on who made it.
I can't believe that Charles Barkley left Kobe off of his list all together. The only panelist to do so. His hatred for Kobe is unreal. At least his fellow commentators were killing him for leaving Kobe off. Heres the list in case anyone is interested. Duncan got the most points in their voting system, followed by Kobe.
1) Tim Duncan
2) Kobe Bryant
3) Dominique Wilkins
4) Allen Iverson
5) Bob McAdoo
6) Kevin Garnett
7) Reggie Miller
8) Connie Hawkins
9) Jason Kidd
10) Gary Payton

"I can't believe that the decision is going to come down to a white guy when it's about dunking"
Barkley needs his own daytime talkshow.

im glad arenas was second. i was afraid he was gonna have a bad showing. he should of won though, nowitzki didnt get that money ball off in time. did anybody else think it was soooo sick when gilbert had his last shot for the second round and he dribbled the ball, swished it, then turned around and did the 3 fingers? that was so sick

One of the better slam dunk contests. Igudola's dunk where he caught the ball from behind the backboard and dunked it on the other side was probably the sickest dunk I have ever seen.

Yeah, Arenas did and admirable job! I was happy he made it to the second round and got 2nd place to boot! Well done GA, way to represent.

Ditto, that was insane.
What's up with them getting as many tries at it takes. I say limit it to maybe 5 attempts at the most. Thats two years in a row that one dude took over 10 tries to make the dunk. Gets a little boring IMO.

The judges were clearly biased in the dunk contest. They love Nate Robinson. AI did a better job IMO... Especially since it took Nate numerous tries to just make his dunks.

I agree 100%. I think the best dunks were AIs off the back of the backboard. And when Nate jumped over Spud for a jam.
My favorite line was when Nate brough Spud out and Barkley said it's not that impressive for a short guy to jump over another short guy.

I'm starting to like Kobe a lot more this year, he seems like he's gotten rid of a little bit of the chip on his shoulder, and the end to his feud with Shaq seems like it has taken a big load off of his mind.
When he was younger he was one of my favorite players in the league, along with Shaq. I'm still not his biggest fan but I'm coming around on him again, and his game this year has just been incredible to watch.

Gil is gettin DISRESPECTED. He has like 5 mins today and we've been through 3 quarters.

Yeah and now that he's in they're not even letting him touch the ball. I really hope Gil comes into the second half with something to prove because he'll need to carry us if we're to make the post season with any chance of advancing.

LeBron is like incapable of passing the ball tonight. It seems like every time he touches the ball, he ends up shooting it. All he really cares about is winning MVP... Gil hasn't hit a shot tonight (0/4) and is being taken out.

Well looks like LeBron got what he wished for.

Gilbert had some considerable minutes in the 3rd-4th quarters, I think they played him 10 minutes straight, but he just wasn't feeling it. He was off the entire night.

He was off the entire night.he didnt play in the 3rd. he played about 5 mins in the 2nd and 5 mins in the 4th. though i am mad he didnt play more, i can understand it cuz he was off. im kind of pissed cuz i believe the nation truly hasnt seen the arenas we all know and love yet. whenever he plays on natl tv, he doesnt play at his highest level.
