"I think it's really important for this great state of baseball to reach out to people of all walks of life to make sure that the sport is inclusive. The best way to do it is to convince little kids how to—the beauty of playing baseball."—Washington, D.C., Feb. 13, 2006Source (http://www.slate.com/id/2136852/)
How many votes in the electoral college does the state of baseball have?

I wonder if there will be an attempt to make GW comissioner of baseball after he leaves office. OH I shudder at the thought.

I'd shudder if I still cared for baseball at all. Since I don't you'd probably here faint and distinctly evil laughter coming from the First State.
One thing I will miss about ole Georgie are his "all your base are belong to us" quotes. But that will be all I miss.

Actually, I think Commissioner of Baseball is the perfect job for Bush. I'd always thought that Bush would have been excellent as the VP of a big country club because he could hang around rich guys, play golf, tell dirty jokes, and drink a lot of alcohol. Those are all things Bush likes to do, aside from the booze, which he's given up.
Since hobnobbing with country club members virtually requires truly heroic amounts of alcohol intake, Baseball Commissioner is a better job. He still gets to hang around with rich white guys who are all Republicans. He gets to take management's side in every labor dispute, which is what he'd do anyway. He gets to go to ball games for free any time he wants in any city he wants and the winter meetings are always held in the poshest resorts and hotels.
He'd be perfect for the job. It's not like he'd have a ton of power. The days of the dictator commish in the manner of Judge Landis ended when the owners emasculated Fay Vincent. The Commish is just a mouthpiece for the owners now. Bush has spent his entire career as a mouthpiece for rich guys.
Plus, Bush genuinely loves the game of baseball.

The bad part for him is the job doesn't come with an army that he could use to invade the State of Basketball, or the State of Tennis or the State of Soccer.

Post of the day right there!
Army or no army, I could see him trying to find a way to do it!

Commissioner of baseball? Bite your tongue.
Whatever useless endeavor he applies himself to after 2008 (remember this is a man who could not succeed at any business other than politics) let's at least hope that it does not involve any kind of public speaking.
Every time he mangles the English language I cringe. If I see him on the talk circuit or traveling around the world as some sort of ex-president ambassador I will have to continue that terrible reaction.
What is the WH pension like? Do we need to start up a collection to keep him quiet in his golden years? We might be able to raise quite a sum.

There is no possible way that Bush could be worse than Selig. Could they be equally bad? Yes. But worse is not possible.

Don't doubt that there is ANYTHING Bush could not do worse than his predecessor.
