I know he is a headcase but how would he have faired in SS offense? This seems like the perfect offense for him.
BTW I am not saying I want him here but just wonder if he would have been happy in this offense, man we know he has the gun for it.

Please don't bring this up............ I'm mean I hate Jeff George.
I think he would still suck. A true contender to break David Carr's only NFL record.

Jeff George is the biggest waste of talent in the history of the NFL. HIs arm was right up there with the classic NFL guns like Terry Bradshaw, Bert Jones, etc. In fact, it was his supreme confidence in that arm that was his downfall. He showed no interests in reading a defense or following through a play the way it was designed, i.e., if the first option was covered, move to the second, third, etc. I'm sure in his opinion there was no such thing as a covered receiver, with his arm.
In fact, in a strong case of irony, SS's offense may be the worst fit for a guy like George. SS's offense requires the QB to read the defense and get the offense into a play appropriate for what the QB sees.
Jeff George would be the worse thing that could happen to our East Coast offense.

Very well put robert11273. You were reading my mind. Which I feel very sorry for you.;)
No doubt about JG arm. That has never been the problem with him. Its the fact that he has way to much confidence in the arm that has kept him just about every coaches dog house that he's played for.
I have actually thought about starting a thread like this myself. You would think JG would be great in this offense, but I don't Spurrier would the patience to deal with him...

Thanks CarMike.
George is the poster boy for a coulda/woulda/shoulda campaign.
The other thing I forgot to mention is the leadership issue, which ultimately got him cut by Marty. There is no question that the QB has to be one of the leaders, or at the very least, exhibit leadership that makes your teammates want to run through a wall for you. Can anyone truly say that about George?

George once said leadership was over rated...kinda like himself right. :)

George would not fit well in this offense at all, simply because in this offense, the QB is expected to take the lead and be the leader of the offense. I remember all too well George's comment that 'leadership is overrated'.
No thanks. I think he would be a perfect fit in Dallas.

George can do one thing, and one thing only. He can make some very pretty throws in practice. This is the thing that's made coaches fall in love with him, only to see him make mistake after mistake come game time because he overestimates what he can do.
I'd rather have Wuerffel.

Spurrier requires his quarterbacks to think and make their own decisions frequently. However, make a bad decision and Spurrier comes down on you like a ton of bricks. Jeff George's decisions are usually bad ones.

The guy is poison. With his arm comes his terrible attitude. Just one of those guys who hurts you more than he helps you.

I guess I made the mistake of thinking about his arm instead of his head. You guys are right, that he probably would not have had the patience to learn this system and work hard at geting better at check offs and stuff. Like I said I did not want him here again.
Ramsey will soon make us forget about hte awful QB streak we have had going. Atleast I hope he does

He's better than Woeful. That's about all there is to say about George.

i thought that was ryan leaf!
those two are carbon copies of each other, except (and i feel all yucky saying this) if it is possible, george may have had more heart than leaf.
having said that, i wouldn't want either of them in the same zip code as my football team!!

Sadly he isn't better than Wuerffel...he should be, he definately has more athletic ability...but Wuerffel is a better QB...and that isn't saying much.
