Who's Hot, Who's Not Running back Trung Canidate and safety Matt Bowen had another run-in yesterday. Earlier in the week, Bowen lowered his shoulder into Canidate on a play during what was supposed to be non-contact drills. The two ended up scuffling yesterday, with Canidate slapping Bowen's helmet. They were separated and practice continued. . . .

Its good to see some competition between the O and D. As long as no one gets hurt...it only leads to tougher play down the stretch.

From Canidate:
“It’s football, baby. When you’re coming in on a blitz, I’ve got to protect the quarterback. That’s all it is. Everything’s cool with Matt and me, and he knows that.” -- running back Trung Canidate, commenting on his shoving match with safety Matt Bowen
That's great to hear. One, he has his priorities straight with protecting the QB and two, no hard feelings. I'm glad that he's showing that he's tougher than most people thought.

Yeah, Canidate's really giving it all out there to prove he can do everything. The Post says he has the makings of an every-down back, but Spurrier might not take advantage of that. Also good to hear that there isn't any bad blood between him and Bowen.

I don't want Canidate to be an every down back. I want him to run fast and take a quick break,......... run fast/ take a break. He could be every down if we are passing alot, but I still want to see what he and the others have to offer on friday. I hope he is taped up good. I don't want no mess.

Just gonna type the same thing Lady. This attitude is a breath of fresh air, fire and enthusiasm reigns. That is the one benefit of a big player or roster turnover, you get a new look, new feel, new attitude. I just dont see a downside to this competition.

Anyone notice the RB rankings? Hmmm...I don't know about Morton being #2, but I'd love for us to keep Watson
Ranking the RBs
1. Trung Canidate should be watching his rear-view mirror, because there are two other backs ready to take this job from him, plus he dropped at least one catchable pass coming out of the backfield.
2. Chad Morton is making everyone forget he's only 5 feet 8. The kick returner-running back has wowed crowds with his moves when he gets into the open field, and when he catches screen passes, it is likely the play will go for a large gain.
3. Kenny Watson came back from a sprained knee, and showed his typical tough running style, bulldozing through linemen. It should only be a few more days before Watson is again showing he is right in this competition.
4. Ladell Betts may not even be in this race anymore, still sitting out because of a sprained left elbow.
